I had that to actually happen 2 years ago and that is why we stopped using real pumpkins on front porch because they would decimate them in 3-4 days.

They just want the bird feeders, though we have not put any pumpkins out this year. I bought new squirrel resistant ones and installed them with blockers. They try, but it takes them so long to get to the dogs are already chasing them out the back yard. The front yard feeder has been retired, and way at the front of the property I dump the old bird feed when I clean out the feeders, they can have that.
