Do any of you have an old Ouija Board stashed in your cellar or attic? If so and you want to sell it, now is the time!
I listed one with the word Halloween in the title and suggested in the listing that this would be great for a Halloween Party. It ends in 90 minutes and has 9 bids already!

HELP!!!! I have someone requesting shipping info going to Taiwan. I only ship inside the US, but this is an item that I'm not too sure if it will sell or not, so I'm considering going ahead with it. It is an antique adding machine that weighs about 60lbs. Has anyone ever shipped to Taiwan? How much extra paperwork is involved & how can I protect myself without Del Confirmation? Also, any suggestions on how I should send it, if I decide to go ahead? Thanks. Sandy

Hi, everyone!

I am doing ok on my auctions, have sold 3 small $ items, but it is a good start. I do have a question about ebay and paypal and your opinion on something.

First the question, I only have a personal account on paypal, but when I send the invoice through Ebay it says that I accept credit cards, why do they do that? Is there a way around that or another way to send bills to them? For small $ items the amount to accept credit cards is too much in my opinion. Any advise.

Also the 3 items I did sell, after receiving a credit card request that I denied, I sent the 3 people this message.

*****Hi, I just wanted to touch base with you. When paying I do accept paypal but not any major credit cards since I have a personal account not a business account. The invoice says that I do and I am not sure why since I dont. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Tamie******

I also let the person with the credit card one that I did deny it and why and asked her if there was another way to send payment. Did I do ok?

What are the +/- of accepting credit cards beside the fee for the credit cards. Anyone know?

Thank you for help and advise.

Do you have the box checked that says you accept PayPal? If you have this marked it shows the credit card payment. You will need to uncheck this box and simply state in your payment and shipping that you accept PayPal from a checking account (not linked through check card) or PayPal balance. You can also accept Echecks through paypal with no fees (on a personal account).

I do not accept credit cards simularly to you the items I am selling generally only sell for $5 or under and the fees are too much.

Everyone has their preference when it comes to scales. It also depends on what you sell the most of and if they weigh more than 5 lbs. Some scales, like the first one I bought, go only as high as 5 lbs. Since I sell some heavy items, I purchased a 30lb postal scale off eBay from a really funny guy who specializes in postal scales. He starts his auctions at .99 but they rarely sell for less than $30. I did a BIN for a silver electronic scale with an ac adapter for $35 and have been thrilled with it. I don't know how I did without it! Let me know if you want his eBay name.

For very small items you can use a diet scale or you can weigh yourself then weigh yourself and the item for much cheaper ways to weigh.

Hope that helps! :teeth:

Yes, I would be very interested in purchasing a scale like that. Could you lead me to this person. Thanks!

For those of you that didn't know, I thought I'd mention it's 1 cent gallery today on ebay!

UGH, I'm stuck with how to mail a book. A large skinny one. Can I wrap it in bubble wrap and put it in a tyvek priority envelope. Or can I take apart another box, cut and tape it together. Its cheaper to cut and tape a box, this way I can ship media, right. The book isn't heavy at all and will fit in the envelope perfectly. But I buy my boxes, so the cost would run about the same, priority mail vs. cutting up a new box. Thanks (again)....

OK, I'm answering my own question here, I'm going to double wrap it with bublble wrap and put it in a priority mail envelope. This way I won't worry when the buyer gets it(I read that media mail can take anywhere from 5 days to weeks)Its a hard covered book so it should withstand the postal abuse between shipment, and I'll put a piece of cardboard on both sides of the book.

Well, you had the RIGHT answer! :) That's exactly what I would have suggested if I had seen this yesterday.. Once in awhile I run out of the large bubble envelopes when I'm mailing out books or magazines so I'll use a plain manila envelope and do exactly what you said you were going to do - and then I tape the living daylights out of the envelope to give it extra strength.. Everything has always arrived in fine shape, so I think you'll be okay!

I don't sell outside the U.S., so I can only suggest that you call your local post office and see what they say.. With such a heavy item I'm imagining the postage would be quite high..

Hope it works out for you!

---------------------------------------------------

About the only reason I can think of that some people don't want to accept credit cards is due to the extra fees involved.. However, if you upgrade to a Premier Business account and get their debit card and then use the card like a credit card at the post office and such you will get a 1.5% cash-back rebate, which helps to off-set some of those fees..

The plus side is that it often encourages more people to bid on your items, they will often bid higher if it's going on a cc, they know that the transaction will take less time to turn around, and you pretty much have your money and access to it immediately..

I accept all forms of payment, but it's really a hassle to have to wait for money to arrive in the mail and people tend to be a lot slower in paying for their auctions when they have to send a check or make a special trip somewhere to purchase a money order.. Then with the personal checks, you need to wait 10 days or so for it to clear so in reality, it could take almost a month to complete the transaction..

Also - keep in mind that people are going to be doing their Christmas shopping via eBay and for the most part are going to want their items yesterday... If you have to wait for payments to arrive via the mail (which will slow down considerably as the holidays approach) you will have to stop your "holiday" selling much sooner because there won't be enough time to wait for payments to arrive and then get the items shipped out.. With the cc's you can extend your holiday sales for a much longer period of time because you can ship the items the very next day if you would like to..

Whatever you decide, best of luck to you! :)

I think that may be the reason no one was posting to this thread yesterday.. We were all too busy taking advantage of that sale!! LOL .. I know I was! I never use the gallery feature unless they offer the 1 cent sale so I tried to get quite a few things up.. ;)

I'm in my fourth week of listing. My first two were awesome!! Last week was horrible. Horrible. I think I made $40. $40, I didn't have, but still, horrible. This week I listed a bunch. I think I've got 20 or so. I listed last night and yesterday and already have bids, so that is great. I've got an item that is ending today that was bid up to $102 the first day. 7 day auction. No bids since. I'm hoping I have a lot of last minute bidders.

Well I left my first negative feedback....wow how nerve wracking!! I do feel better though because this seller has done this to a TON of people in the last 2 months(had good feedback before I bought...now he has 17 negs!!! all for non reciept of item!! What a rip off! )

Now is there a way to inform ebay of this thief?

But how do I add funds to my new Paypal Debit Card? I would like to start using it.

Thanks,

Martha

Just go out to your main account page on paypal. The second tab says add funds. Select that tab and it will take you to a page that you select transfer funds from checking account. Select this buttona nd just answer the questions. It will take about 3 days for the money to show in your paypal account.

HELP! I have a feeling I need to find out some information about shipping outside of the US. I have another potential bidder that would like me to ship to Europe. This package is only 6 pounds, but I have no idea what the steps are for this type of shipping. Doris or someone else who does ship overseas, Please Help & let me know what is required. Thanks, Sandy

It really is easy to ship out of the states. The hardest part is getting the boxes, if you are used to free Priority boxes.

Just go to the home page of the USPS and click on calculate postage, and then calculate international..hopefully this will take you there:

http://tinyurl.com/d64x

Put in the weight, etc, if a package or envy, pick out the place from the drop down menu, and you're off. Most of my items go via air letter post (small packages).

The only other thing you have to do is fill out the customs form (usually not if in an envy (bubble envy or otherwise). Tic off merchandie on the form and you are good to go.

Of course it's a little distrubing..you prob won't buy insurance, since then you have to ship a much more expensive way, and also overseas people who use Paypal all have unconfirmed addy's...but so far my buyers have all been honest. And some pay through concealed cash.

If you want confirmation on the cost (just to make you feel better), put the package measurement's weight and where it's going in a post..we'lll make sure you're doing alright.
