Hi,
Most buyers will not leave feedback until they recieve thier item and have time to inspect it. When i recieve payment i send the following message:

Hi,
I received your payment and I will mail your package out to you on Monday
morning. ( or when ever you are sending it) You should receive it shortly. I have also left positive feedback
for you.
Thanks for your purchase and have a great day,

Most will leave you feedback-some just take longer than others and i never ask them to.

Cheryl

I just wondered what everyone does to try to get their buyers to leave feedback?

I do nothing, because I very much hate it when someone bugs ME to them feedback. I figure if they want to leave it, they will.

Just as an aside..I know someone who sent out a note last week telling the buyer they were new, and would appreciate feedback. The person wrote back that they thought the item was junk, and if they left feedback, it would be a neg..he asked, did she still want the feedback? She didn't respond LOL!

I've been leaving feedback as soon as I receive payment and ship their item. Should I wait longer?

I've seen where some people don't leave feedback until they've received it???

I send an email upon receiving payment that thanks the buyer for the fast payment, advises of the ship date (normally the following day), and says, "I will leave positive feedback for you on eBay and will appreciate your doing the same for me after your item has arrived safely."
I always ship immediately and this combination seems to work for me. I was pleased recently to receive good feedback from a buyer with 11 positives on his rating, but he had never left FB for anyone else. I was his first ;) ! OTOH, some buyers have taken 2 months before leaving it.

I email the winner when I ship and ask that they email me back after they receive their package so that we can exchange feedback.

I use Del Confirmation also, but this seems to work pretty well, especially with newbies that aren't familiar with the feedback system, or may not know they should leave feedback. Sandy

I have on my invoices/packing slip that appropriate feedback will be left once notified that item has arrived. If the person does not notfiy me I will generally leave the appropriate feedback once I know the item has arrived (I use DC) and the buyer has had time to contact me if something is wrong.

what is turbo lister (or whatever the turbo thing is called) is it a prgram you can download to make listing faster? That would be cool since it takes so long for me to list. Let me know how to get it!

I just thought that I would let everyone know this morning that today (Monday Sept 22 & Tuesday Sept 23) are Penny Gallery Days. It figures. Just like last time, I had just listed like 15 items last night. Now to find some more to list. Hope this helps you! Sandy

WEll, I filed my first NPB last nite. The auction ended on 8/27. Her first email to me was on day 10 after the auction indicating that she had sent a check. I still have not received it. Hoping that when she gets the NPB notice she will just pay via Paypal and be done. However, this is an item I wouldn't really mind relisting!

Last week was okay, not terrific. I did have 1/2 of my stuff sell, but mostly for the opening bid. Although, I did have one pack of brand new boys' underwear that went for 2x what I paid for it, plus shipping. Sometimes it amazes me what people will pay for stuff on ebay that they could just go to their local K-Mart or Wal-Mart and buy. Oh well, good for us I guess!

Hope everyone has great sales this week!

I listed 27 items and 24 sold, most for more than I dared to hope for!! However, it looks like I am going to have to upgrade my Paypal account - I received 5 Paypal payments and 2 used credit cards! I have resisted accepting credit cards thru Paypal thus far, but it appears that many people find it convenient....and don't read the fine print. At least I can get the Paypal debit card to offset those fees.

Hey - anyone else get any complaints about your auctions all ending at the same time if you use Turbolister? It's happened to me twice now, and I was curious if anyone else had any feedback!

Thanks!

Hi, I am new to ebaying and have only been doing it for about 3 weeks thanks to all of you guys of course!!

Have a question. I have put up for sale a doll trunk of my daughters last night and started it at 19.99. Woke up this morning to find I already had one bid and an email from that bidder wanting to know if i will do a BIN. I have read that most of you don't like to take people up on this type of offer and I understand. However, I just can't make up my mind. I keep thinking that if she is the only one who wants it then I will end up with only the 19.99 but if someone else wants it who knows what it would end up at? So I just can't decide what to do? I also don't know what kind of BIN price to put on it even if I wanted to. There aren't any other trunks like mine up to compare it to. So that makes it hard also.
Any advice out there??
Thanks so much.

P.S. last night I sold my DD's doll bunk beds. started them at 9.99 and they sold last night for 46.00! It was hoping for $20-$25!! So far that's my biggest sale though. Most of my other stuff is just smaller $10 stuff.

Well, I don't think I'd end it early on something like that. You said that the bunkbeds went for way more than you expected. So, the same will probably be true of the trunk. If it is doll stuff for the American Girls, they sell really well. You had a bid on the first night. I think I'd wait until and see how it goes. Besides, you can't add buy it now once someone has bid on it. Unless the person who bid is the person who emailed you. You'd have to cancel the first bid and then add it.

Anytime someone on here has mentioned that a buyer wants them to end the auction early, the item sells for much more then they anticipated. I did add a buy it now last week for someone who wanted to buy some of my daughter's undershirts. I had four of them listed. I started the bid at 1.99 and she agreed to pay $6. I had just listed a couple in a different size the week before, and they ended at the beginning bid. So, I thought it was worth my while.

Madi100: yes the person who bid is the same one who emailed me about the BIN. Thanks for your advice though. It'm still thinking it over this morning. :)

Hi LisaRay....

I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. It was a hinged box that I started at $5. Within a day someone offered me $60 to end the auction early. I did not and it end at $113!!!!

DO NOT END IT EARLY!!!!! ;)

Thanks for all the advice. The person who had asked me to end it with a BIN did not offer a price and i was having a hard time figuring out what to do! But 6 hours later it has another person bidding on it and is up to $31! So looks like i have found my answer :)

Thanks

Well over the weekend I did it. I finally put myself down and started doing the ebay thing. Although my husband thinks I am crazy. He also thinks it is a big security risk.

I have a few question:

From your experience what sells?
Do I need to worry about taxes? (My husband brought this one up)
I started out with
Several Brooches, books, hot wheels cars, cd's PoP80's, dvd old movies, wallpaper,

I am in the process of going through my son's clothes? Any other suggesion (of course without giving any of your own secrets away) You guys have inspired to get off my duff and get going. Thanks. Lets hope it works out.

I also posted for 7 days is that long enough?

Thanks Guys, LinK

Name brand kids' clothing in good condition seem to go really well., especially Gymboree, Lands End, Tommy, Gap, Nautica. If you have new items with tags, try them individually first and make sure you put NWT in your title. My auctions are mostly clothing, so I can't really comment on your other questions.

I just thought that I would let everyone know this morning that today (Monday Sept 22 & Tuesday Sept 23) are Penny Gallery Days.

I saw that..how annoying, just when I got so much up and so much ready to go up this week as I start selling again. Now buyers will have to wade through tons of stuff to find mine LOL!!

I wish I knew..the easiest way to find out if you have anything that sells, is go to search, advanced search, put in the item you want to know about, and hit completed auctions. That is usually a good indication..if you don't see the item, try the search in about a month again.

If you are selling items from your closet, technically you owe taxes, but without going into the long story, the IRS usually doesn't bother with you. The best thing is to have receipts from those purchases.

If you are buying stuff to resell, you should be filling out a schedule C, as a business, and claiming your income, as well as deducting your costs. You prob should get a resale certificate from your state and collect (and pay to your state) sales tax on items shipping within your state.
This is the short version once again.

Hi All

I thought I would give you a few updates...

first...my long lost book never did arrive so now I must decide what to do about feedback....also is there a way to complain directly to ebay? I did file with paypal and here is the response I got:
"Our investigation has determined that the seller is at fault, but we were
unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the
PayPal User Agreement, Buyer Complaint funds recovery cannot be guaranteed.

If this transaction took place on an auction site, we encourage you to
contact the auction site"
HUMPH! not too helpful!

Also I wanted to say that I am still stumped on my old books. Here is an idea of what I have and if you have a clue of where I can get help please let me know!

I have lots of 1900 and earlier nursing school books

I have a ton of college issued lit books like shakespere, emerson, whitman, twain, homer, tennyson etc..

I also have several "womens" books on how to run a household and entertaining (these are a RIOT to read!)

All of these are 1930 and older many in the 1800's

I more question....please bear with me!
I have a lot of Japanese dolls that I would love to sell but again don't know what they are even called or what the worth would be. These are at least 40 years old.

Okay now that I have babbled on and on I just have to say I am so glad this thread exsists for all of us to come to!!!!
YOu are guys are great!

A question for those of you who have listed CD's. Do you have better luck listing them individually or as a lot? I finally got a huge box of CD's out and spent the whole day checking on what was already listed. I found most of them listed individually but I wouldn't say they were any record-breaking sellers! So I just thought I'd get some opinions! TIA

A while back I asked about selling magazines. I had several years of Parrot magazines. Well I split them into lots of years and every auction sold. A couple went for the low starting price but others went for a bit higher. I think because of the shipping cost being due to the fact that 12 magazines are pretty heavy, this deterred many from bidding!

Take care!
Vicky

Hi mom2smjn,
I enjoy the researching almost as much as selling! :) - You may need to go to the library for the dolls, to see what pictures you can find that might identify the age, manufacturer and/or design. Then if you come up with specific identifiable names, do searches online to see if any stores or auction houses list them, in addition to eBay.

Someone earlier listed a site for book research - it is http://www.addall.com/used/
