I just wanted to thank everyone for the link to the usps shipping assistant program! It's really great, especially since i use media mail most often. The 13c delivery confirmation is very nice :)

I still haven't gotten my act together enough to list on ebay! I am nervous about what to say on my listings. It just seems so complicated! I wish this thread wasn't a million pages long. I started compiling a list of the important info but it was taking forever. Maybe I'll get back to it after my son's birthday party on Sunday.

I have been selling on amazon.com and have done well, but now it's time to move out the kid's clothes on Ebay. As soon as I get up the nerve. :)

I have a new Paypal Debit Card. Is this card used only for purchases? Or can I make it my primary card on Paypal which will receive payments from my buyers too? I tried to add the card to my Paypal profile and it said it couldn't accept a Paypal Debit card. So do you get a monthly statement like a regular credit card or is this strictly debit. Sorry, but I am lost on this.

Thanks again,

Martha

Hi, bafmrf. I just got the paypal debit card around 2 weeks ago. Being it has the mastercard logo it can be used where ever the credit cards are accepted. But being its not a regular credit card where you carry a monthly balance I'm assuming we'll get a statement. and not a bill. The money comes from the amount we have in our paypal account so luckily for me, I won't be able to over charge on anything. Actually, I've only used it at the post office when I have several boxes to send. I usually take all the money out of my paypal account and put it in my own checking account, then I transfer it over to my savings. If I don't do that I'll spend all my ebay money. I hope I'm right and making sense. I'm sure one of the more experienced ones will answer for you, if I'm wrong.

Can someone explain this again. I have looked all over and can't figure out where to do the 13cent delivery confirmation. I have been able to do the free delivery confirmation for Priority mail, though.

Thanks.
Maggie

Do get the 13c DC you need to download the program, you can not do this direct from the website (that I know of). Once you have the program you just print out the shipping lables and they automatically have the DC and you pay the 13c when along with postage.

So, the balance in my Paypal account is my "Open to buy" on my debit card? Correct? Normally I swept that amount into my checking account. Do you leave quite a bit on your balance? Or just enough for shipping and things? I have a water softener to buy and I thought I should transfer some money to my debit card so I could get the 1.5% back but that is quite a bit of money to leave sit at Paypal isn't it?

Thanks for being so patient.

Where is that link? I looked at what I thought was the program but first class and media mail wasn't an option. Was I in the wrong place and if so, where should I be?
Thanks!!

bafmrf. EVERYONE on this board is patient. If you look through the 100000's of pages you'll see my posts with so many questions(half of them a baby can figure out, but not me) and everyone was answered with step by step instructions telling me what to do and how to do it. Thank god for these boards and the great people on it.

But to answer your question, yes, the money thats in your paypal account can be used however you want. You can buy your water softner using the paypal debit card, just make sure where you buy it accepts mastercard/visa and you'll be all set.

I never leave more than a few dollars in my paypal account. (not that I usually have more than a few dollars in there anyway, I don't sell expensive things). I always take it out and put it in my reg. account. I do leave some for shipping only when I use "my money". You see I cheat alittle with my ebay money. Sometimes I take my dh's money to pay for shipping, this way I have alittle more in my acount. He don't know and he's not going to miss a 20.00 here and there,LOL.

But I think alot of people use there paypal debit for everything, shipping, gas, etc. I hate to use it for the household things that I feel my dh should pay for, LOL....Afterall, I'm the one finding things to sell, listing, checking online all the time, packaging, shipping, and not to mention how nervous I get when I sell something and hope and pray that it gets to the buyer quick and there satisfied with it. So I think my cheating is alttle well deserved.....

So go ahead and use your paypal debit for your water softner and don't worry....

Oh, make sure its activated. Just go to the www.paypal website and it will tell you how to do that...

I do the same thing with my husband's money. I figure $10-$20 here and there won't kill him. I hate to see my balance dwindle.

Thanks for the help. I totally understand now.

Does anyone know if there is a way to find out what day I completed the NPB alert form for an auction. I somehow neglected to write the date down. I want to file for the final fees but I don't know when my 10 days is up. Thanks!

didn't you get a copy of the notice that was sent to the buyer?? That should tell you the date the you filled and just count ten days and that is the day you can file. Barring this, you can go in to file for the fees and it will tell you that you have to what at least 10 tens, just do that until you "hit" the right day. :)

Right now I have one buyer who won 8 auctions on Saturday that has yet to contact me. I sent the invoice, and the reminder. I will be sending a personal email on Friday (tomorrow) and if I still do not hear from him by Sunday then I am off to file NPB. UGH!! It wouldn't be so bad if was that it was for EIGHT ($0.99) items.

I'm pretty sure the copy email got deleted. I have very good records for all of my other auctions, but of course this one. I have personally sent this person 3 emails. She only responded to one. Saying she was paying the next day (of course). That was almost 3 weeks ago. I gave her some time, and now I'm done giving her time. Ironically, she has only a feedback of 8. But all 8 are from this month, and are glowing with positive remarks on how quick she pays. To boot 4 of these are from the last 7 days!!!

Maybe I read this wrong on the ebay discussion board, but if you get a non paying bidder and file a npb report, then request your fvfc, can the non paying bidder leave you a negative feedback? If this is true (and I hope I misunderstood) then it really isn't fair. Maybe an experiences seller can answer this. I filed a npb report and I have just a few more days left to request my fvf's, I don't have much feedback, being I just started selling (I have 50 +), and I really wouldn't want to get hit with a neg. so early in the game. But, I would like my fees back. I gave the bidder over a month to get in touch with me and she only e-mailed me once asking me not to file with ebay. I feel my first neg. coming....

Unfortunetly YES they can still give you a neg. I just had it happen, the buyer had the wrong email on his account and all the invoices went to that wrong email address. And I agree it is no fair.

I have been using shipping assistant for a while with no problems. Our computer crashed so we had to re-install everything. I downloaded shipping assistant and now when I go to print a label, it comes up a "Sample Do Not Mail" across the label. I double checked that I did not have test label selected. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Martha

This is so funny! I do this too!!! DH said the only way we can go back to Disney this Thanksgiving is if I pay for it all with "extra" money - Rewards programs, ebay, half.com, etc. So I have eBaying like crazy trying to get the money. I set up a separate checking account just for this. What I do is deposit all of my "extra" money into the second checking account. But when I pay for shipping at the post office, I use our regular check card! He hasn't caught on yet.

Don't worry. We aren't starving because of me taking the extra money out of the account. And I work too so it isn't just DHs money. DH is just, shall we say, tight with the money. (That may be a little unfair since we have gone to Disney twice already with our annual passes. But doesn't it make sense to use them while we can?)

I've got to say, as much as I want to do the eBay thing, I haven't had much luck. I have put maybe a dozen items up on eBay to sell and have sold less than half. I am starting with relatively low prices, and still no nibbles.

I kind of feel I have nothing left to sell from around the house. I tried grabbing a few things that were more than 75% off at GAP and posted them. I think they cost me about $5 each and I posted them for $9. These were for expensive shirts (over $40) and pants ($55). No nibbles!

Where can I find stuff to sell that people want? I don't have the time with three kids to rummage through flea markets. I have become really frustrated with this. Where am I going wrong?

Many thanks... Paul

You need to register to be able to print a "real" label.

I was looking thru the Stamps.com web page and I have a question for anyone who uses it. I like the idea of it but besides the convenience of it what are the other benefits? Aside from the interductory offer does it include any postage or are you paying the monthly fee on top of all the postage costs? I did figure that if you send more than 50 items out a month with DC it works out to about the monthly fee, but is that it> Thanks for all your help! Oh yeah....could someone lead me to the best deal on scales on ebay. I know several people are happy with the ones they got. Thanks (I'm looking for a 30# er) thanks!!
