I am wondering about something that is happening to me lately as a buyer. Whenever I use the 'ask a seller a question' feature, I do not get the copy back to my email. And I am wondering if the questions are actually going through all the time. The reason I am not assuming that they are not going through is that occasionally I am getting an answer. When I do not get an answer, I do not bid. But I am not sure if it is just that some sellers are not answering or if sometimes the whole system is not working and they don't get my message.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Would anyone help me test out this problem? I currently don't have anything for sale. But if someone would give me a way to see something of their's for sale, I could test out the feature.

TIA!

I've asked a couple questions in the last few days and I've rec'd the copy of my question in my mail, if that helps at all.

I've decided to try it and am about to finish my first ebay sale. I have set up paypal and I think I understand that I request money through them to the buyers email address. Is this correct? Do I have to go to the post office twice? Once with the package to find out how much it is to ship, then invoice the customer, wait for paypal to verify the money and then go back to the post office to ship the package? I'm about to have a panic attack! I don't want to goof this up but since it's my first time - I have no clue what to do next.

You can either do it manually thru Ebay after the auction is finished, or set up Paypal to do it automatically (this is what I have done). That way the buyer is invoiced quickly even if you can't get to your computer for several hours or whatever.

You can take your item to the post office to get it weighed in order to calculate shipping, but it's better to do this prior to posting as most people like to know shipping before they bid. Buy a scale and do your calculations at home - this saves having to go back and forth to the post office with every item.

Once you've been paid, then you ship, not before.

One more question from a newbie. I signed up for the personal paypal (no cc). Then I put the paypal logo on my auction. Now that the auction is over ebay sent me an email (invoice type thing) to email to the customer and it says that paypal accepts all major credit cards. What did I do wrong and what do I do now? This is very stressful. Thanks for your help.

A quick question - I am pretty new at selling - i had an auction end on May 13 and got an email a couple days later from the buyer saying they were sending a money order for the purchase. I still have not received it - i have sent a couple e-mails just saying the item is ready, just waiting for the money order but have had no replies.

How long is reasonable to wait for the money order to arrive? I dont mind waiting a bit longer, but certainly am not familiar with the preferred method here.

THANKS!

You need to take the Paypal logo out - uncheck it - in all future auctions... Be prepared as people will now be trying to pay you with a CC and will be getting ticked off because they can't..:(

Where is it coming from? I've had to wait as long as 3 to 4 weeks - and don't forget, we just had a holiday as well..

CAnne - I don't understand - I thought paypal was so that you could receive payments that way - minus the cc option. Don't they have where you can accept paypal personal and paypal premier separately? I haven't heard from my buyer yet so I don't know how they want to pay - should I get the premier paypal for this purchase or explain the problem to her? I'm not sure I want to continue doing this ebay thing. The rules are so hard to figure out. Also I'm wondering how ebay knows which paypal account is mine when they are totally separate entities. So confused!

thanks C.Ann - i wasnt so concerned about the time as i was the lack of response, but guess what...a response just came....and I hould have the money order by the weekend.

still, its always good to get others opinions when you are first starting out with E-bay.

keep in mind eBay owns PayPal...

Another example, when you print a shipping label with PayPal, eBay knows it automatically and you can click on the link in MyEbay to track the package!

I do not get the copy back to my email.

did you tick off the little square that says something like..tick here to get a copy? Or does that make it mad, and it's really tic? (ticked off, get it LOL?)

How about we just go with putting a check mark in the box?

"Tic" and "tick" have too many various definitions..LOL

::yes::

Barb45 - You can have a paypal account and not accept the CC's, you just can't display the logo in the auctions. You can state in there that you accept paypal, but can't display their logo. To be honest - I have 2 pp accts. One personal, one premier. I use the personal one when I am trading coupons, etc. so I don't get hit with fees. Otherwise, I just use the premier one for anything ebay. I figure the potential for greater earnings offsets the fees I incur on the premier account.

Well I'm just over a week into this and have been doing very well....I've made over $500 profit.

I have a few people email now asking me to make a deal outside of ebay. I've been saying no....I assume this is against the rules of ebay am I right? How do you handle requests like this?

If it is a current action, you can not cancel the auction to sell outside of ebay. However, if the auction is closed with no buyers and someone contacts me I have not problems selling them the item outside of ebay.

I actually have a number of the same items. So people are emailing while the auction is going on asking me to sell them another outside of ebay.

I see nothing wrong with this. As long you do not state in your auctions that you have more available.
