You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

It is against ebay rules to contact a bidder or a seller through ebay and offer to sell or purchase items off ebay. Your account could be suspended.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-circumventing.html

Users may not avoid eBay fees

Users may not use systems or techniques to circumvent eBay fees.

Examples:

* Offer outside of eBay - offering the opportunity to purchase the item or other merchandise outside of eBay through an item listing.
* Unreasonable shipping or handling costs - listings with low prices but unreasonably high shipping or handling costs.
* Listings with additional purchases- listing an item that requires or offers an additional purchase. For example, travel certificates that require the holder to buy or pay for something (such as a hotel room for 7 nights) as a condition of receiving the benefit of the coupon (such as free or discounted airfare).
* Multiple Item Listing (Dutch) Avoidance - listing a single item and offering additional identical items for sale in the item description. In these situations, the seller typically instructs buyers to indicate the number of items they want, and states that they can get the same price as the item in the listing.
* Email address, phone number or domain name in the title or subtitle - listings with an email address or domain name in the title. Exception: This will be permissible only in listings that are offering a domain name for sale.
* Catalog Sales - listings of catalogs from which buyers may directly order items are prohibited. In these situations, the seller will typically offer the catalog for low bid prices and complete sales outside of eBay for items found in the catalog. Old (those that you cannot order from any longer) or collectible catalogs are permissible. Please see the complete catalog policy.
* Reserve Fee Avoidance - Canceling bids and ending a listing early because the seller's desired price has not been met.

Listings that circumvent eBay fees are not permitted.

I have sold several items on Ebay, but have not really ventured into clothing. I have some toddler/small child clothes which I would like to sell. They are a mixture of Osh Kosh, Disney, etc. For those who have had some success at selling clothes, how would you recommend I sell these? As individual items, or make up lots of 2 or 3 items? I'm thinking lots as this would make the shipping from Canada more palatable.
Is there anything special that needs to be mentioned in such an ad to make it more attractive to potential buyers?

Thanks for any info you can give me!

Finally had my first really bad experience with a "witchy" postal clerk.. I've never seen her in my PO before and I sure hope she's not going to be a regular!!

I went in there on Friday with about 12 different packages for eBay sales and she hassled me over EVERY SINGLE ONE of them!

"This one has too much tape on it.."

"This one doesn't have enough tape on it.."

"What is inside this one?"

"This shouldn't have any tape at all and I don't CARE if it's to keep the rain from smudging the label.."

"This one needs a customs form.."

"You DO realize that if Media Mail is undeliverable it gets THROWN OUT - right?"

"This one needs to be marked - 'Room available only' - so don't expect it to get there anytime soon.."

etc., etc......
------------

Sheesh! By the time she was done harassing me over every single package I wanted to reach across the counter and STRANGLE her!!!!

I sure hope she's not a new regular or I'm going to have to look for another PO to use..

That postal clerk sounds like they should keep her in the back stuffing mailboxes!!!! :hyper:

I DO go to the PO in the next town which is actually closer to where I live. The clerks there are friendly and efficient. The Postmaster knows me by name. He should, I drop $300 a week there.

The PO in my own town has nice clerks for the most part. There is one that is miserable and not unlike the clerk you encountered. If it's my turn and I get him, I step aside and let the person behind me go and will wait for another clerk. If he is the only clerk on, I take my business elsewhere. Speak to the Postmaster if you continue to have a problem.

What does "room available only" mean?? I've never heard of that!!

At least your PO clerk will actually pick up packages! I have the "I-cant-take-it -if-its- over-5 lbs!" problem clerk...

Great, if I ever want to buy two stamps, I'll come to see her!

That makes (at least) three of us wondering....

Also, I never knew that media mail was thrown out if undeliverable. How can they get away with that?

My understanding is that Media Mail WILL be returned to sender if undeliverable, but Bound Printed Matter will not be unless you write on the package, "if undeliverable, return postage guaranteed" (this is per my post office).

I've only sold adult clothing (things purchased for other family members who never wore them), but I listed them in related lots. Same size, things that would create related separates, etc., and noted the manufacturer (no major labels, but some people might know), size, actual garment measurements, color if it varied from garment to my monitor (box of standard Crayola Crayons 64 count makes a great frame of reference!) and condition of each piece.

Since the items were not popular status labels and more on the order of practical garments (very nice, good designs and well made, but limited audience), I listed the lots for a fair amount (about $4 per garment), and the winning bids came in $5 to $6 per garment, which surprised me. Better than a yard sale!

If the package is sent parcel post (cheapest method for regular items), it technically is space available on the trucks... Thats why it could take up to 14 days to be delivered. But in no way should it be marked "Room Available only".

Also, if Media Mail is U.A.A. (Undeliverable as Addressed), it MUST be returned to sender.. I think you need to have a talk with the postmaster! I work for the usps and I can give you the real deal ;)

Hey guys....Any idea of the era on this musical jewelry box? It's not very big. About 4" x 6" x 3"h. I'd like to have a bit more background before I list it. Give you one guess what song it plays!

Thanks so much for that info! I'm hoping and praying she was just a substitute or something as I've never seen her before and I do NOT want to deal with her on a regular basis.. Nasty, nasty, nasty....

I had never heard of this "room available only" either - and I've been doing this for over a year now - nor did any other postal employee ever tell me that my media mail would be "thrown out" if it was undeliverable..

I sure hope she's not there when I go in this coming week!!

I once sent a package to Alaska (the North Pole, by the way) via media mail. This was for a half.com transaction. After 1 month it still hadn't arrived. I went to the Post office to fill out a form for them to start a search or whatever they do. They postal clerk told me that "It was probably thrown away because it was media mail." I said, "What???" I filled out the form anyway. I didn't hear back from my buyer, so assumed it eventually got there. I will NEVER send mail to Alaska via media mail again. Even if I have to lose out on postage.

I usually include separate shipping rates for Alaska & Hawaii (I don't use the rate calculator). I don't feel those who reside in the contiguous 48 states should pay the higher rate, and I don't think I should pay it either! :)

I made a purchase on 5/13 from an eBay Power Seller. It never arrived. After numerous emails, the seller did get back to me and promised a refund. That was on 5/29.

As of this weekend...no refund to my PayPal account. So I wrote to him again. He appologied and said he would take care of it on Monday.

This afternoon, I get an email from PayPal that a partial refund has been offered. The explanation is that the unrefunded money was spent on postage!!!! WHAT???!!! I've got to pay for postage on an item that was never received???? I can understand if it wasn't what I expect and that I wanted my money back in return for sending back the item but why should I pay for postage when the item was never received????

What is everyone's take on this? I'm out almost $5 because the seller didn't use any tracking or delivery confirmation? Your opinions and suggestions on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

If I were foolish enough to not use tracking or delivery confirmation, I would feel obligated to refund the FULL amount - including S&H..

Have you checked his feedback to see if he has a "habit" of making a quick five bucks this way?

I'm just going to guess early to mid 70's. I would venture that the latest would be 1976/78. I remember the avocado/green/orange phase was big until maybe 1976.

My first question is did you insure the item? If so then he should be filing a claim with the PO. If a tracer is put and it unsucessful, the PO will refund the cost of the item plus potage.

My second question is does he have proof that he mailed the item, PO receipt etc. Shipping Number. DC #? or anything.

As a rule of thumb if I sent the package and can prove that I did (PO Reciept and DC #) and the buyer does not insure the item then I won't refund and they just learned the hard lesson of the importance of insuring.

If they do insure and it "get lost in the mail" then I would file a claim with the PO first. Then once the claim as been processed I would issue a full refund (including my handling charge)

So I guess in short, if you did not insure the item then I think you should count yourself lucky to be getting the partial refund. If you did insure I would tell the buyer to file the claim with the P.O. and that you expect a full refund, including postage since they will receive this from the PO.

Just an FYI

NO REGULAR MAIL DELIVERY OR RETAIL SERVICE ON FRIDAY, JUNE 11, AS MARK OF RESPECT FOR FORMER PRESIDENT RONALD W. REAGAN

Express Mail service will be available.

All postal units, including Headquarters, Area and District administrative offices will observe this day of mourning.

Regular delivery and retail operations will resume Saturday, June 12.

Business mailers who had planned to deposit large mail volumes at Postal Service Bulk Mail Acceptance Units on Friday should contact their mail acceptance facilities, to determine if there are any changes to acceptance dates and times.

Wow..thanks for the info, although I'll be at Disney so it wouldn't effect me, I find that very interesting. I wonder if they have done that before, for an ex president.
