Yet another shoe question. . . KEEN??

Okay, I have been very successful with my Merrell's at Disney--however, I have to admit that I hate the way they look. They fade almost as soon as you purchase them. Last year while I was touring the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, a lady and I started talking about shoes and she said that she moved away from Merrell's and now wears Keen. So all of you Keen people out there, which style do you like and how do they run? Are they true to size?? I have a narrow foot--do you think they would work? Also, are they really worth the money and have you made it all week at WDW wearing them? Thanks so much!!

Keens are very well recommended here. I tried them but my foot is a bit wide and I had to go up 2 sizes just to fit into them! Not good at all. Since your foot is narrow, you should give them a try.

my dh loves his keens, they are great for park touring. Especially good that they are water proof. He has worn them to WDW and also on a cruise for water activities. My BIL and SIL both wore them for our last WDW trip and declared there feet felt wonderful!
As much as he loves them he would not just wear this shoe for a week at WDW, both of us switch off between a couple different pair of shoes, helps keep the hot spots, blisters and foot pains away. Any shoe that makes my feet feel good after all that walking is worth the price.

I have the opposite experience- I have a wide foot and my Keens are PERFECT so perhaps it depends on the style. Mine are the canvas Coronado.

I recommend reading reviews (you can just google Keen reviews) before ordering. I read lots of them and settled on the style that got the best reviews for my type of feet (wide, high arches). It worked well because I've loved them since the day I got them- my feet have never been so comfy in shoes!

This is also my problem with keens. My kids have narrow feet, and they would work well for them. For people with wide feet, they just don't fit well. My friend pretty much lives in hers. She even wears them in the winter here, and we live in Utah so there's lots of snow.

I have plantar fasciitis in both feet and my Merrell Encore Mary Janes "saved" my recent Disney trip. I do have Keens as well but can't wear them all day like I do my Merrell's. I received a number of compliments on my Merrells including questions on where to buy them. Why don't you like the look of yours?

I bought some for my son and I, he loved them and wore the all the time last trip, me on the other hand... I am a very true 7.5, and they don't make half sizes, I tried to 7, to small, I ended up keeping the 8 but sort of wish I didn't. I ended up back in my birkenstocks by the end... It's just a matter of preference.

It's not that I mind the style, I wear Merrell palmetto slides. The problem is that the leather fades horribly and the colors look worn and old almost as soon as you wear them. However, they are the most comfortable sandal ever.

I don't wear Keens (another wide foot here) but never rely on a single pair of shoes when at WDW. I switch out every day (sometimes mid-day) to avoid "hot spots". I have and wear three pairs of Birkenstocks, crocks flip-flops, and two pairs of tevas. Never had a problem since I started this regimen!

Love my Keens.

They don't all run the same size. So, I stress that you try them on. I had a pair that was real wide and I wore a 9 1/2 after I wore those out I bought a new different pair and had to get a size 11. So try them.

My Keen sandals are the only shoes I wear when at WDW.

I had the opposite experience, I have narrow feet and the sales person warned me Keens run very wide. Of the 6-8 styles available, only one fit me correctly. I would say that they do run true to length, but they are all different shapes and widths so you need to get the one that fits your foot properly.

Get someone to fit you professionally, go to a store like REI where people know what they're doing. Otherwise they'll hurt your feet--not just blisters, but they'll mess them up good.

BTW my DH wears Merrell sandals and we both have Merrell hiking boots and haven't noticed any issues.

I wear Keen everyday. I have about 10 pair and love allof them. I will be taking a few pair to wear with me next week. DH has bad ankles and bad back pain. He has had surgery on both a few times. I had him get Keens and he loves them. He now has three pairs and I will probably get him more. I always get mine on Ebay which is must less espensive. Try them on in the store first to see if they fit. I will also be taking a pair of chacos to change into.

I love my Keen Newport H2 shoes.

I am a 14B (farily narrow - which is a hard size to find for men), and the size 14 Newport H2 fit perfectly.

I wear them all the time during summer with no issues (I will occassionally put some moleskin on since I never wear socks with these, and you walk ALOT at WDW).

If you can't find a pair of Keen's that work well, I recommend looking for a pair by a company called Ahnu. They have quite a few different styles. I have a pair of their Tildon II's and love them. They run narrow, have decent arch support, and they're really lightweight and comfortable (to me anyway).

I have wide feet and buy them up 1/2 a size. I have a very high arch and they give great support and I have never got a blister wearing them, something I can't say about Reebok and Nike sneakers. I like the Venice the best of the sandal styles I have, and the harvest maryjanes (not good for water though, the uppers are recycled rice bags) are really cute. I also have syles for winter etc I must have 15-20 pair of them.

All my Venice and other sandal styles are the H2O ones so they're waterproof, a bonus when going to Florida. I keep getting new colors but my faves are still my first pair...the lime green ones I got in honor of the Dis!

I also like Teva Westwater for looks but they don't have as good of an arch support.

The Keen hybrid shoes may be my favorite shoe ever (okay, no...sorry, Uggs, I did not mean that). lol But they do rank way up there. To give you any indication of how good these shoes are, I am a hiker and at the first of August I did a 5 day hike in camping with the kids. My trail boots had been replaced because of a wayward dog, so my newer ones still needed more breaking in than what they had. After day 3, I had a serious hot spot on my little toe (because I have little, wide Hobbit feet ) and couldn't wear those anymore. I put on my Keens, hiked another 18 miles (in the mountains and through rain) and had not one blister other than what my boots had originally started. I worship my Keens , because hurting feet will ruin any trip.

Definitely! Go with the closed toe, no matter how unattractive you may feel they are. After the first few times of being stepped on in line, or ran over by wayward strollers, (or stub your toe on the curb) you will be VERY glad you have them.

Hubby and I much prefer Keens - spent a mint on them because of the DISboards, and we think they might possibly be the most uncomfortable shoes we have ever worn. They are used for garden shoes - $89.00 garden shoes! Yikes!
