In planning an upcoming Very Merrytime Cruise on the Wonder out of Galveston, we were thinking of taking some gifts on board for the family. Does security require that gifts not be wrapped? Would it matter if the gifts were in checked luggage versus carry-on? Thanks!

Wrapped gifts are fine at the port as long as they don't contain any beverages that might need inspection or prohibited items. Checked versus carry on doesn't matter, but anything expensive like electronics or jewelry should go in your carry on.

As long as you're not talking about flying with wrapped packages. They'll make you open them if you fly. I'd keep any special gifts in my carry on, not checked bags. Checked bags are often not in your direct control.

To avoid wrapped gifts from being opened for inspection, bring separate paper gift bags from dollar store instead of wrapping the gifts. It will be as good and less time consuming. You will have lots to pack for the trip anyways.

Have fun planning!
