WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Im going to a jewerly party tomorrow and hoping to net $500. I weighed everything and per the current value- so .04kg= 1.60753 troy oz. the current value is $934 per troy oz. So Im looking at around $1400 is that correct? Im going to see what the offer me and if its not near what I want I will try US Gold buyers. My friend is having the party said she received a check for $2900 and its a cop/rn coming to the house. Im keeping my fingers crossed. all mine is 14k with a few stones.

You are not going to get current $/oz from any rebuyer (they have to make a profit as well.) Selling at one of those parties typically is not a good idea as they pay out less than to begin with plus they give a certain portion to the party host. So your pay out will be less (often significantly less.) Honestly, if you have that amount I would just sell it to US Goldbuyers. You can call them and give them your weight and they will give you a quote. I would at least do that before you go to the party.

thank you. I called and he told me $800 per the weight I gave him (dh weighed it a few times again and they all came out as .05kg). That seems like they are taking 1/2 of its value for profit. I will take it tomorrow and see what they say and decide. thanks so much!

Thanks for this thread! I have lurked for about a half a year. I finally sent my "junk", I mean gold yesterday. Hoping to get the call soon :)

Hmmm, something doesn't seem right. When I sent mine in one of my pieces was a gold coin that was 1 troy ounce. I recived about $50 less than what the sell price for it was that day. The same with the rest of the weight.

If you can, I would take it to a local jewler today and have them weigh it to see what it comes out at and then price it with US Goldbuyers. They consitently have the highest payouts of any gold buyer across the nation. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal about how fantastic their payouts are (and what a rip off gold parties and travelling buyers are.)

I gurantee you would get a much better price with them over the party but if you want cash instantly, the party is the way to go (It takes about a week total turnover time from gold to cash with US Gold buyers.)

Good luck :)

I was wrong:rolleyes: dh figured it out for me and his quote was right. Mine is 14k gold not 24k gold so dh came up with $817. He said I wouldnt get more than that at the party, so I called fedex and within 30' they were at my door and took it away. I will keep you all updated. I have never done anything like this before.. It will go towards dd's braces and registration for football & cheerleading. For items laying in my drawer for years no less.. :confused3 thanks again. Im so glad I saw this post this am or I would of taken the pieces to the party tomorrow

okay I received my call- I guess this is the best I will get:confused3
Im told now that I have 1.25 troy oz of mixed gold and I think he said 31 pennyweight so he gave me a quote of $475... a check will be coming in the mail. Im assuming this is more than I would of received at the party. I wanted $500 so I guess its close enough..

People, this is a scam - why can't the moderators take this off?
:confused3
Because if you had read any of this thread you would see that the 2 companies that people are using here are legitimate. And they are not scammers. My guess is that you haven't read any of this thread.

Hmm... really? Funny, because I just got money put into my PayPal account by USGoldbuyers.com ($260 to be exact) for 3 rings, 2 pendants and a gold chain I sent them (went out Friday, got there today-Monday). Scam or not, I got money for something sitting in my jewelry box for the past 8 years! :P

No scam here...I used USGoldBuyers and got $1,400 for stuff sitting in my jewelry box. My local jeweler was going to give me $1,000.

While there are scam companies doing this with jewelry right now, you will find alot of great research & time spent on this thread to make it extremely beneficial to many, many posters.
Maybe take a little time to read the great success stories or contact the 2 companies used by everybody and see for yourself.

I have two friends that are having parties at their homes where they buy gold. Has anyone participated in a party like this?

don't do the mail in thing. I've seen news specials warning of them. They are a scam. Well, they will send you money but nothing near market value. Probably 30 bucks or so when you should get hundreds. Just take it to any local jeweler and they should be able to buy it right there.

I swear some people dont read anything before they make comments. There are 2 companies that people on here have been using forever now and noone has been scammed by either of these companies. You must be a jeweler and trying to drum up some business for yourself.
your local jeweler does not give you as much as these will sorry to inform you.

Everyone - please take your time and do your research! Plenty of us on here have done so and have been very pleased with the results. Yes, many parties, travelling shows and tv ads are rip-offs. However, US Gold Buyers had a write up in the Wall Street Journal praising its service and high payouts in relation to any other goldbuyer. Sorry, but I am going to trust the Wall Street Journal over some random posters on a internet thread any day. I have $1,200 in my bank account to prove it (which BTW was more than $150 more than a local jeweler was offering :thumbsup2)

While I understand your need to warn everybody of the scams out there (and there are plenty I'm sure), perhaps you should have taken the time to read this thread before jumping to conclusions. Not everybody out there is a scammer. Sometimes all you have to do is a little research.

My local jeweler wanted to give me $50. for the first batch of gold I had. US Gold Buyers gave me $120. :rolleyes1 They're a legit, professional company.

I have no idea what a local jewler would have given me, but USGB gave me $533. When I sent it in I told my husband I would be happy with $100, so you can imagine how happy I was with what I got. Not a scam!
