Has anyone been unhappy with the quote from USGB and have they requested the gold to be returned ?

Can anyone post what the DWT (and the karat) of the gold they sent in, so I can tell what they are paying per DWT for 10K and 14K gold.

I had my gold looked at in the mall today and they came up with 17.3 DWT of 10K and 21.5 of 14K......gave me a price of $470.

In looking at USGB, based on the table on their web site for DWT for 10K and 14K, they may offer quite a bit more.......Actually, based on today's gold spot price, they offer about 90% of the retail price for gold......10% margin does not seem like a lot, so just wondering how they stay in business if it is only 10% margin.

So, for those of you that have sent in and got money back, can you list the DWT for each karat weight you sent in and how much they paid you ?

Just seeing how much margin they are really working on....

Either way, I think I will give USGB a shot...

So a general question on why choose one over another, since it looks like both sites are legit and pay quickly. It does seem that USGB has quite a bit larger payout than GF for most of the karat weights, so one would think to send their gold to the one that pays the most (again, since both these sites are legit), but on the other hand, USGB's prices look like they are working on a VERY small margin (at least versus the spot price of gold on Friday) which makes me think something else is going on for them to stay in business. Looks like GF is working on a
30% markup from the spot price versus up to 10% at USGB.

Again, just looking for reasoning why people choose GF over USGB (or vice versa).....

First time sending something to USGB. Another successful transaction....... Sent in 14.2 DWT of 10K gold, just called with a settlement of $246...... right in line with what there web site stated...... FYI, was only offered $170 at the mall kiosk....Packing up my 20+ DWT of 14K gold next....!!

What's the "policy" on this thread about suggesting good buying sites? I recently dealt with a GREAT place and I don't want to look like a spammer or anything. Since I'm not a regular BBer, I want to broach this in the right way. I've been lurking on this thread for some time, and when I was ready to sell my stuff, I almost went through USGB. One of my co-workers told me about the site I ended up going to and I did much better than I would have at USGB.

If you have a Cashland or a Cash America near you most locations buy gold and pay very well for it. They pay per gram and will give a free quote also.

Ok, after months of following this thread I have finally decided to send my gold "junk" off to usgb. I weighed what I have at 1.6 oz, am I figuring correctly that this is 29.166 dwt? And then take my dwt weight and multiply by what usgb is paying per dwt? I just don't want to feel stupid when they call and I am expectly a whole different amount from what they may offer.

Well, it depends on if it is 10, 14, 18, or 24K gold, or even gold at all, or gold plated silver (or some other metal).

From my 2 dealings with USGB recently, they were providing almost exactly what their web site notes as payments for each DWT Karat weight.

Yep, that's what I did. My estimate was within about $20 of what they offered. I figured the difference was I was using a postal scale and they have a jewelry scale - the postal scale only goes to the tenth in ounces. It was close enough for me to be happy with it though

I went to one of those Sell your gold shops and they offered me $45 on my platinum ring. Since then it's pretty much put me off of the whole thing. On top of that mine has a big diamond and I don't know what to do with the diamond. Any advice?
