I'm curious if you weighed your stuff before you sent it? If so, how much was it?
Yes, they said if I didn't like the quote they will mail it back. I guess we'll see what happens

I weighed just the gold at Fed Ex before putting it in the envelope. It weighed 1.6oz (which would convert to 29.19pw) They said that I had 21.6. It could be that the scales weren't exactly accurate.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still glad that I sent it in. It was useless broken pieces that were sitting in my jewelry box that I never would have had repaired. I just thought that it would have been closer to $600-$700.

Gold is measured in troy ounces, which isn't the same as a regualr oz. It takes more gold to make a troy oz.

I figured my weight in all 3 types and come out with very similiar numbers - pw 2294.56, troy oz 2294.25 and ounces 2517.13.
The gold party gal tested it all and weighed it all in front of me...not to say she couldn't be wrong, but I feel pretty good about her totals.

I have been following along with this thread for a while now too and FINALLY sent my gold in. I sent in quite a bit, things that I had that I no longer wear or were broken. I just took it to Kinkos/fed ex this evening and they said it will go out tomorrow and be there by Wed AM...

I will post what I get...Either way I will be happy..It was just old things cluttering the jewelry box. The amount that I get is going towards upgrading our DL passes from Deluxe to Premium..We are going over New Years so excited!!

I sent a total of : 1 ring, 5 charms (3 with stones) 1 anklet, 7 Broken chains, 5 pairs of earrings and 1 single earring, 4 ball spacers.

Well...got my call today, I was pleased with the offer since it was just broken stuff anyway. USGB called this afternoon with offer of $203! Its already in my paypal account

talked to USGB today and got my offer. I, too was pleased and found it interesting to compare to the gold party I went to. Just to recap...at the gold party I was offered 1070.00 and told I had 115.6 grams (which comes out to 74.33 pennywt, 3.716 troy oz or 4.07 oz). I had estimated it should be $2200.00 - 2500.00 approx. My offer was $2,138 and I was told 2 of the larger charms did not test gold (which they had at the party). They are sending them back to me. Sooo, very interesting and I'm glad I changed my mind and tried USGB - finally!! After watching this thread for many months.
Give them a try! They have been great to deal with and its super easy to do.

just to add - I had 6 rings, 10 various sized charms, 1 long rope chain, 1 brooch, 1 brooch w/ matching clip on earrings, 1 necklace with matching clip on earrings. The sets w/ clip on earrings were old and heavier then anything else I had. I will try to post a picture once I upload them.

THAT BEING SAID...I did finally send my gold in last week...I had emailed them over a month ago. The whole FedEx thing threw me. I just mailed it Priority w/ confirmation and insurance last Thurs. Got a call yesterday. $406.21! Not bad for a bunch of stuff I never wear!

Sent 1/31, they called the next Tuesday & had my check Monday. Just over $400...4 mismatched earrings, 3 very thin necklaces, about 20 hollow beads, 3 small rings; a bracelet. Not bad for things i never wear!

That price is for pure gold though. What you send in is not. And it will depend on the karat you have as well. You can look up prices on US gold buyers website

can I ask about stones in jewelry? do you take them out or do they and then renturn..the pin I have has like 4 I think pink saphires, they are too lite to be rubys but also have ring with topaz 50 years old and diamond chips? in some. Thanks
