WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I just dropped off my package at Fed Ex this morning. I asked the girl to weigh the gold before I put it in the envelope. It was exactly 1.6 ounces so we'll see how much USGB offers me.

Based on what I've read here, I should get a call from them tomorrow.

I'm thinking that maybe around $700 but once piece is 10k. Keeping my fingers crossed for good news!

Did you get your call yet? I sent mine in yesterday too and haven't heard anything.

i got a call about an hour ago. they said it weighed 21.6 penny weights and offered me 465.75. it's not as much as i thought but i took it. it's stuff that i'd never wear or fix.

My offer was smaller ($300) but it was a small lot. I took it but they said because they were working overtime tonight they wouldn't put it in my Paypal account until Monday.

Still like you it's stuff I'd never wear.

How do I tell if something is gold plated or (real) gold? :confused3

I have cheap looking ring that are stamped 10K.

Do they take Sterling Silver...how do I know something is (real) silver?

ETA: How much is shipping? or do they pay shipping?

I just figured out what I am doing tomorrow - cleaning out the jewelry box! How did I not know about this before? What stinks is I frequently "de-clutter" my jewelry box and throw out broken/mis-matched jewelry. I never knew I could sell it! Do they take watches? Hopefully I'll be able to find enough to pay for my Dooney Disney Bag that is on the way! THANK YOU for this post!

I have couple other questions (sorry)....

are those silver italian charm bracelets worth anything? I have one, as does DD, that I never wear. Are/were those even real silver? I have NO idea....

About how much is a high school ring worth? 10K I think. I don't have a way to weigh it.

I thought I would get it today. I live in MD and this was coming from NYC. I got the phone call Wed evening around 5/5:30 and he said it was being put in the mail that night. So I figure that meant it went into a box somewhere and maybe went out on Thursday???? Well it didn't come today. If it doesn't come on Monday then I will be concerned. Has everyone gotten their checks okay??? Thanks

Sent my stuff on Saturday

Pair of small 14K hoops
1 single stud earring
4 thin gold rings (1 broken) 10K
Bracelet 10K

Was offered $149 and it's in my paypal already! :cool1:

My check came today. YAY.....I was going to be WORRIED if it didn't show up today. So tomorrow morning...off to the bank we go.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in this forum!!! :worship: After reading this thread I went to the USGB website and asked for the form to submit my jewelry. Yesterday I sent 4 old rings, 2 14k and 2 10k, 3 broken bracelets, one broken chain and 2 pair of earrings, today I received the call, I almost fainted when they offered me $922.67!!! I had to asked them twice the amount because I couldn;t believe it. So, once again, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!! :cloud9: :cheer2:

I'm from Canada so they won't send me the free envelope. I still sent it in paying less than $10.00 in postage and got a phone call offering $409.00 Monday night. I had the check by Friday.
I had earlier gone to a mall kiosk that bought gold and they offered me $200.00 which I didn't think was that bad. Boy, am I happy that I read this board and took my chances. I receved more than double!!!

Thanks to all!

Money is so tight right now and DH and I are having a tough time with money for Christmas so I'm sending in my old gold today! I've been meaning to do it for a while but kept putting it off. So I'm sending in 4 rings, 4 earrings (just one pair and the other 2 are mixed), 2 charms, 8 necklaces, 2 bracelets (thin chains), and 1 watch. It comes to 1.9oz on my scale and is mixed 10k and 14k. Although 3 of the pieces (1 charm, 1 bracelet, and the watch) I'm not sure about. So crossing my fingers that I get a good price. I'm only thinking I'll get $250. We'll see....

Did your items have stones in them? I sent a lot more than that and I got less than 1/2 of what you sent. :confused3

I attended a gold party tonight and hoped somebody could check over my numbers.
They used grams instead of ounces or pennyweight. I had 115.6 grams of 14 k gold.
They offered me 1070.00...which I was excited about.
until I got home.......
when I go to the USgoldbuyers website and check the numbers I come up with this:
115.6 grams = 4.07767 oz
4.07767 oz x 612.20 per ounce as of the current rate posted on their site comes out to $2,496.00!!! Quite a difference.
Did I convert this right?
Thanks for your thoughts & help.

You probably would've gotten more, but not that much more. Just becuase it weighs that much, you have to remember it depends on the karat and purity.

well it looks like my calculations were correct, although I realize they may have slight variations if they test them differently then the gold party people. Still a significant difference. usgoldbuyers gave me this info to help w/ conversions, in case anybody else needs it: http://www.saveonscales.com/weight_converter.html

I requested an envelope today and will be sending my stuff soon.
Has anybody sold their stuff recently with them? I have been following this thread for many months.

I would be surprised if you get the higher amount. I sold my stuff a few weeks ago to USGoldBuyers. One piece was 10k and the rest was 14k. They said that it was 21.6 pw ( I thought that it was a little more than that). They check the purity and gave me $465.75. That came very close to the 10k rate, not the 14k.

I think that if you're not happy with what they offer, they will return the pieces to you.

I'm curious if you weighed your stuff before you sent it? If so, how much was it?
Yes, they said if I didn't like the quote they will mail it back. I guess we'll see what happens :)

what you weigh it as really doesn't matter. if it has any stones or other metals on it, plus the gold isn't pure, it will be lower than what you think...usually ..if you weighed it. Mine weighed alot (I forget now) but most was silver and I didn't get very much for it.
