WOW - I just sold my old gold........

once usgb receives the package, how long are you all waiting before you hear anything from them? my package has been delivered and signed for this morning. so i am curious how long it takes.

thanks
Mine was signed for this morning at 9:45, and still nothing it is now 2:10. I was chatting online with one of their reps, they said up to 24 hours after the package is received you will get a call... please post if you get a call and I will do the same.

Just got my call, 330.05. wow... things that were at least 20 yrs old some were 30 yrs old. It was about 20 less than I thought but on the bright side it was 169.00 more than another offer.. off shopping. :dance3:

i just checked my voice msgs and they did call. i have no idea how i missed that call, its to my cell which i carried around with me all day just for this call. so i will return the call tomorrow.

keeping my fingers crossed they offer really good.

Mine was signed for early in the AM and I got the call at 4:50 PM. I am a little ticked at them. they never sent me back the stuff I asked back. And I've never heard back why.

My sister and I went local and sold some sterling silver and some jewelry that was left by our grandmother. We aren't jewelry people and we've been holding on to this stuff for about 10 years. We got $2200 to split between the 2 of us. I was shocked, but very glad that we did it. I'm going tomorrow morning to pay half of my tuition for next semester (my last semester)! Really excited and relieved.

I've got a bunch of old gold items that are either broken or I'll never wear again.

I've read through much of this thread and I'm trying to decide which company to send them to.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

It seems that a lot of people had success with USGB but I just wanted some opinions before I send it all off to them.

Thanks!

USGB was wonderful to deal with and the prices have never been higher. Now is a great time to be selling your gold to them! Today USGB was buying at just over $600 an ounce!

It should be more than that. Gold is like 1100 an ounce right now.

Isn't that for 24K gold?

Most of what I have is 14K with the exception on one bracelet that is 10K.

I called them last Friday and they said it was $512 for 14K so it's up a bit. The rep that I spoke to said that he was sending something to me via email but it never came (I checked my junk folder and in box) so that made me a little suspicious. I think that I'll call again and see if they can resend it.

Okay I went online and did a live chat. THey sent me the forms. Now the paperwork says to call Fed Ex to arrange for a pickup and to ask for a box and airbill. Well it is all automatic on the phone to them and it asks if this is for air or ground. I assume it is air if we are requesting an air bill? Also, if they are picking it up....obviouslys they are bringing you the box/air bill. SO do they drop it off and then come back for it or wait for you to fill it out and all?? Can I just go to the Fed Ex place and get the box/ air bill and do it that way?? Thanks

I took my stuff to a Kinkos/Fed Ex place. I placed my stuff in snack size zip locks then put that in a manilla envelope. That was placed into the Fed. Ex box. They should have it tomorrow. I figure anything I get is better than it sitting in my house not being worn. I sent in some old rings including my high school class ring, some bracelets and necklaces. Some were broken. We shall see. ;)

What is everyone's experience with the home parties for selling gold? I have one booked at my house in two weeks:) It was my intention to take at least a few pieces to a local jeweler and send same to USGB and then have the company coming to compare prices but it didn't happen...

I think I have quite a few coming and I get 10% of everything sold as well as $100 to pay for appetizers and drinks (as long as the party yields $1000 which it will because my gold alone was $1100 a few weeks ago). I also get $50 for anyone who books a party.

Has anyone compared home parties? From these threads, it seems that jewelers offer much less. The rep said that she has found that jewelers are much less and that her company prices were competitive to USGB, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less and this is coming from customers at her party that actually take the time to compare. I do of course realize that she is a salesperson;)

Thoughts?

I just went to my first home gold party on Saturday. I didn't have much to sell and was happy with my $286.00 she offered me! I thought it was so worth being a hostess that I booked a party for Dec 1st. Other people at the party had alot more gold than I had and all were very shocked and surprised with their offers. Everyone left very happy!

Here's a link:

You'll need to subscribe, but maybe you already do. Consumer Reports sent out mystery shoppers to try to find out which companies are paying a fair price and which are not. The reason everyone and his dog are trying to convince you to sell to them is they believe gold will go a lot higher, so shop around before you let your precious metals go.

Thanks JennSaint, that's good to hear. I'm happy with what I was offered but I'd hate anyone to feel like I was having a party for them to be ripped off...

Well I was pleasantly SURPRISED  I am getting a check for 450.57, :yay: I am happy. I can't believe how FAST they get back to you at USGB. I sent to Kinkos around 1:45 yesterday and just got my call. The check is being sent out tonight he said. SO I hope I get it on Sat.

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE THAT POSTED about this. Now I think I will go back through my stuff and make sure there is nothing else to get rid of.

Oh he did say I had a few pieces that were not gold which I was not sure so I threw them in anyway. He was so nice and said "that is okay, not a problem" He said he would mail them back or donate to Salvation Army. I said to just donate them.
