Would you go alone?

Yes, go!

I go alone all of the time. DS is going to school in Daytona and DW and I go down to check on him and the house. We alternate trips to save money and keep the other house functioning.

I will come down for a week at a time and spend my spare time at disney. I will do a lot of just checking out the small things. I try to do at least one new thing every trip.

You can have sooo much fun by yourself. Stop and appreciate the small things.

I have done 4 solo trips - my husband is not the Disney nut that I am and rather than wait for him to decide he wants to go, I go by myself. It's great, no problems at all.

Thanks guys I thik I may just do that! We hae AP's and live 30 - 45 mins away depending on traffic. The only reason I wouldn't stay after dark is the drive back (most of its on a 2 line country road which I'm not used to yet and don't like - city girl being transplanted to the country unexpectedly) so for safty reason I would leave before then. Maybe I'll drive down there today and mosie around for a few hours. LOL

I spent a day at WDW after a business trip in April this year. I was hesitant about it, but went. I had a day left on a hopper anyways. I spend most of the afternoon at epcot and never got to the WS, since i wanted to rush over to MK to see wishes etc. I got quite a lot done, since i wasn't waiting on everyone else in my group! It was fine!

but one of my favorite parts of going is 'sharing' the magic with my family, so I missed that part. I love seeing their excitement. I had to call my sister while I was watching WISHES alone, because I felt a little lonely with all these families around me. But hey, i was at WDW, so it wasn't too bad!! I did get some looks as I waited in line by myself etc. I didn't care though!

Party of 1 please! :earsgirl: :rotfl:

In 36 more days, I will be at WDW for my 6th solo trip ! Each annual trip is for 6 nights. I don't have any children, anyway, so I don't have to worry about that. My DH stays home with our two cats, HIS choice !
My Disney trip is like my mental health week! LOL !
I always have such a great time. I keep touch with my DH and also my Mom with my cell phone. I am never lonely at WDW ! :Pinkbounc

If I had the chance/excuse to do it, I would (and also, if I could get over the guilt of leaving DS at home  ).

My friend goes on an annual training trip every year and she squeaks out a couple personal days for herself, and I am so envious every year when she tells us how she had such a nice time shopping by herself, etc.

Ohhhhh, I wish, I wish... :goodvibes

Last summer I had a business trip to LA, and ended up with two half-days I could spend at DL. It was wonderful! The first time I went with a friend/co-worker, but the second time I was absolutely totally on my own for 8 hours at DL, and it was heaven. It was insanely packed, so I barely got to hit any rides, but it was still a lot of fun.

DS is 9, and right now I wouldn't go on a trip to WDW without him unless I was already there for some other reason, like the trip to LA. Even then I had to bring him back a whole bunch of pins to make it up to him! (I'm a terrible liar and couldn't hide the trip from him.)

But once he's old enough to not want to go with me, I'll definitely go on my own. I travel alone for business all the time, so travelling solo isn't any big deal. Plus, DS doesn't like some of the things I do (he hates roller coasters, so I haven't been on Space Mountain for a looooong time).

He will be old enough someday to not want to go with me, right? ;) I guess if not, at least eventually he'll be old enough to take care of himself while I ride Rock and Roller Coaster. :cool1:

I would not go alone.. but that is me, I would miss my best friend, my DH of 36 years, who loves WDW as much as I do.

Many of my friends go alone and love it.

Although I've done Washington D.C. alone several times, Disney is one place I would not go alone because I love to share this type of experience with my DH and DS!

I admire those who have done Disney alone! Have a great time!

I say go for it I've done it many times even do it when they are here with me.
I just tell them I'm going either get up and go or stay and call me when you want .
I'm an early riser and late stayeruper and love the parks DW just can't hang so this doesn't cause arguements .
I play Paintball ( It's going on now at WWoS ) twice a year At WWoS and that when I go by myself .I'm not playing this week so I was going anyhow and decide to take DD out of school for a day for her B-Day and take them as well for this trip.

Now My DW would never come here with just me (took our first trip in 13yrs. w/o DD to Vegas for our Ann. ) but thats just her.
Bottom line is you have to do you things every once in awhile in order to keep the sanity of family life.

I went solo for the first time in April of 2004. It was wonderful. Different circumstances for everyone. Do what's best for you.

I'm going solo the end of Nov. Sure, I was a bit nervous once the excitement of booking my first solo trip wore off. But, I'll be meeting some DIS friends there, going to some meets..that kind of thing. I'm really looking forward to being able to do exactly what I want to do, when I want to do it for the first time. I feel very safe in WDW so that isn't an issue. My big problem with going solo in Nov???? I'm afraid it will become habit-forming!!!!!

I'm afraid it is habit forming! I'll be checking into BCV 1 month from today for my 7th solo trip!

so how did it go?
did you go today?
i was going to say that you can go early in the morning, and then be ready to drive home by early noon.....
be sure to buy your favorite snack food (mine is a frozen coke in tomorrowland -- there are no frozen cokes or slurpees in the country where we live....so it's a great treat when we're in WDW)....

I would go alone. I think it would be relaxing to be at the hotel. Nobody would know you were alone at the park. I would love to just roam by myself. You could be a single rider and get on faster. My husban is motion sick and stayed with our kids a lot and I went off to do rides y myself last visit.

I say GO!!

It should be fun and relaxing. I am actually jealous. If I had the opportunity I would do it. I have to admit I would be a little apprehensive at first, but once there it would probably be nice to be completely selfish.

I happened to be in the area on business, and found myself with about 6 hours to kill. Soarin was in soft opening, so I went, and was able to ride 3 times all by myself. It was a wonderful experience (no kids fighting, or complaing, or being distracted), and I would do it again, if under the same circumstances. It's amazing how much you can get done when the kids aren't around!!

Btw, I'm not slighting my children, we've commited to going every year for the next 5 years. It's just a different experience when you are by yourself, and you can go to the things YOU want to do, and browse what shops YOU want to shop..

You Moms might want to relay this story to your family. My first solo trip was when our kids were young. DH and our 2 DSs got together and surprised me with my first solo "Mom's Weekend". They sent me off for a weekend of rejuvenation, sort of like a spa retreat or something. Now that the kids are grown and gone, DS still understands that even though we go yearly, I still need my "Mom's weekend" (although it's now longer than just a weekend, more like a whole week).
