Would I have had any options?

I made a reservation for someone else with a check-in day of Labor Day. Last Friday I just happened to check my personal email from work, and found out that she had a sick child and that she wanted to change the reservation. I was able to move it since I got the message during the day on Friday, but if I hadn't gotten it until Friday evening...would there have been any way to reschedule the reservation? Can we call the resort directly in that case, or would the whole 5 day reservation have been forfeited?
 
DVC resorts have limited ability to access DVC account information at times when MS is closed for such transactions.

Many have reported success adding dates to a reservation or even cancelling a reservation by calling the resort directly. I don't think they can handle banking/borrowing or transfers, but should ben able to assist with something like your question.
 
I think the frontdesk CMs will help the best they can on nights & weekends with the limited membership info they have. I think they contact Member Services on the next working day. I know this is how an emergency extended stay was handled for a friend/DVC member earlier this year.
 
The proper approach is to contact the resort if MS is closed.
 

Thanks for the information all. I am confused that this question got moved out of the "planning" forum as it is about planning a reservation, but I guess I'll figure it out eventually.
