Would a CM Let Me Propose Like This?

I've already put this on the Weddins Board, but I figured I'd ask here as well.
I think I read somewhere (I think on Gifts of a Lifetimne's Site) that Disney charges an arm and a leg to "rent" characters, but I was really hoping to have Mickey there when I proposed to my girlfriend on our next trip (Sept 2004), but I didn't know if I could do this.
While we're in the regular line to get your picture taken with Mickey, I would sneak over to the CM w/ Mickey and tell him/her what I was about to do, and ask if a picture could be taken while I'm on the knee. I didn't know what were the odds of actually being told "No, you can't." I think that with Mickey right there, it would make everything a little more special.
Anyone know if I would be told "No" by the CM, since I already know the answer to the more important question is "Yes".
The other option is just not telling the CM, but I think that it's something the CM should have a heads-up on.
Thanks.

I would defiitely ask. You may want to go to Toontown where Mickey is in an air conditioned location. Outside, they have time limits and depending on the crowds, they may not let you.

Or at the Studios where I have rarely seen a line for Mickey at all.

I don't see any reason why they would not allow this because it is a positive experience for everyone around. I think it is a beautiful occasion and if you wanted to share it with the park, its guest, and even mickey, everyone would be obliged!

just to help you decide on the location:

at Toontown, Mickey is in his tux (if you can call red pants and a jacket a tux)

at MGM he is in his sorcerer get up.

Come to think of it, at MGM i know they have a staff photographer on hand taking pics and giving you those cards so you can pick you photo up later. I am not sure if they have these in Toontown. (there is a CM there with each character, but i don't recall a photographer.) That's not to say that if you had your own camera you couldn't give it to the CM and ask them to take the photo.

They have the photographer at Toontown as well. I can't imagine anyone saying no to you there. You waited for your special time with Mickey just like everyone else, only your time that day will be the most special one to you!!!;)

Good luck with this, so romantic :)

Ahh, what a lovely idea. :sunny:

I think it would be one mean CM who would refuse that request! Go for it!

Thanks for all the quick responses.
I'd really prefer to do it at the castle for the better backdrop (I'm actually a photographer, so I think of these things :p ). Although Fancy Mickey in Toontown is a little more fitting for the occasaion.

I forgot to mention earlier that I'll actually be proposing on my birthday, so maybe the "Happy Birthday" button from Town Hall, would help me when I ask the CM.

Make sure to go where a pro photo is !!! We have had good luck with their photos.

From what I remember it seems like the meet and greet with Mickey in Toontown might be a little more personal than at MGM. I know at MGM everyone just waited in line to see Mickey while at Toontown I think it was basically one family at a time in the room with Mickey:D

There's always a character meal - Mickey's at alot of them!

I certainly hope you're planning to let us know the outcome of this!!

Even tho' you know the answer to the all-important question, I'm sure lots of us would like to know the details. (Ya know, living vicariously . . . . . ) !!! :)

Hello All, Coming from a cast member her self, I think that this is a great IDEA! The only thing that would be wrong is if it was at an outdoor location. You take the risk of people cutting infront of you while taking the picture and other things. I think the best idea is to first of all talk to a photgrapher as soon as you enter say the Magic Kingdom, or even a mangaer. They might be able to tell you if its a possiblity. I think that they would do that for you because It would be a magic momement. The bday button would be a bad idea when i had mine I got a personal meet and greet with cindy and prince charming.and I am a cast memeber and they didnt know that. If you need anymore idea or anything about the proposal I could be of some assistance...

Have A Magical Day.

The privacy of being w/ Mickey in Toontown, and having one of their photographers (instead of using one of my cameras) is appealing. Does anyone know where I could see the set-up over in Toontown? We had skipped it last month, as we already had a pic with Mickey.
We were at the MGM Meet and Greet with Fantasia Mickey, and all that was was a line of people inside.
Also, in case the weather's not that great, in Toontown we'll be a little sheltered as opposed to the Castle.
I guess its the Virgo in me that wants to have all this planned out even though its 18 months away. :o

Chris - what a wonderful idea!!
I, too, think you would like the privacy of Mickey's Toontown location for your proposal - maybe you could also try for a pic with Mickey by the castle if you asked a CM for help. What a lucky bride-to-be -- Virgos make the VERY BEST husbands! - I can attest to that !:smooth:

hAm53 when is this special day? Maybe some of us would keep an eye out for this occassion and a helping hand.

NJMouse ~ The big day of nerves is September 7, 2004 (my birthday). Unless we somehow win a trip to WDW before that.

I'm sure she'll be like "Why do we need another picture with Mickey?!?" To which I'll pull the whole "It's my birthday, I can do what I want" angle.
The other thing I was thinking of was if I say the Mayor of Main Street USA on our walk in, to explain to him what I was looking to do and hope for some help. After all, he is the mayor. Or mention it at City Hall when I'm picking up my Birthday Button.
The hardest part will be to get a free second away from Rose (my girlfriend) to actually tell a CM what I'm looking to do.
