Worst room you've ever gotten?

Maybe you could say you saw a photo taken from room 8108 which is classified as TP View, but there’s no theme park visible?
Yea that’s what I was thinking.. inquire about buying direct Poly, but have concerns. ;)

If I got that as a standard view like at BLT, I'd be thrilled. TPV, they're crazy.
Exactly, it should be set up same as BLT.

You could see a glimpse of Space Mountain. I think a lot of the TPV rooms have that same view, but you get obviously a much better view from higher up.

I had Pool/Garden Room on the first floor of the Boardwalk that looked out on the train of laundry carts.

I can understand if it was one of the standard rooms but when I am using extra points for a view I don't want to looking at the maintenance area.

Our worst was BWV. We booked a boardwalk view studio and ended up looking at the sidewalk/grass area outside the back entrance to the resort. It was super depressing especially for my DH who had been wanting to stay at BWV forever, and this was definitely not looking at the boardwalk from that side angle.

Yeah this is a really bad look. I almost feel like the compensation back wasn't enough. They basically just charged you the "correct" room price (which SHOULD have already been the case). Like, not only did you not get the room you booked, but you then had to take extra time out of your staycation to explain to them why this isn't acceptable. Way more than just a minor inconvenience IMO. This doesn't make me feel too confident about our TPV we have booked for June.

We had a POS at AKL Jambo that was on par with a bad best western condition wise. It was for two. Nights before moving so we dealt with it, but man was that room beat on and filthy

Do you mean the Village Green (see map linked below)? When that was categorized as BW view, many guests, my DH and I included, complained about it. The complaints were so frequent that D.V.C. recategorized it as P/G view (same points cost), and now it’s highly sought after for that partial BW view!

I love akv and stay in the jambo dvc side often. After state of rooms our last two trips and given refurb calendar we’re intentionally skipping this year and next until the refurb is complete. My understanding is they are supposed to refurb every 7 years. The last refurb I see is listed in 2016 which means we’re currently 2 years overdue. Estimates put it to not start until halfway into next year. This means there’s potential for an every 7 year refurb to be complete 3 to 4 years late (50% overdue).

since i have stayed in AKL standard view and gotten a decent view of the Savannah I really thought if you pay the extra for Savannah or theme park view you get a premium experience. Did you happen to ask if that room is actually a theme park view room or did they put you in a different category? I get why you are disappointed.
When i checked in the people who checked me in said “oh its a water view” at which point I was like uhhh its supposed to be a theme park view but sure. And then they told me it was a first floor room and I was like well great 😑 so much for my 7th floor or higher request. And THEN when I got into the room thats when I found out it didn’t have any view of a theme park it was also an accessible room which just made me laugh at that point. I was listening to an old DVC podcast and they pretty much said if you’re more specific and give room numbers they’re more likely to fill your requests but that the exact opposite happens with Poly which ended up being true. I’m not sure why I bother with room requests anymore, I seem to frequently get the opposite of what I request.

This is very unfortunate and sorry it left a bad taste from your stay

I don’t think this would have worked for you but if I think there is a risk of getting a bad room I try to get there early and once they allocate you a room I check to see if it’s one of the less ideal rooms and leave it with them to find an alternative

E.g. had a parking lot view at Pago Pago (assigned by checking in at the desk at 12pm) and after a couple of hours I heard they could move that to Moorea, still resort view but much more relaxing from the balcony

Our worst view ever was at Kidani, We had a 2 bedroom savanna view. It was right at the edge of the savanna by the pool. We had a better view of the pools bathrooms than any animals. No one came all the way down to the fence edges. Plus all the noise from the pools, during the day you had the games and music , during early morning you had the noise from the cleaning crew at the pool.

Ironically, the worst room I ever was assigned was for a cash reservation to Poly, before there was DVC there. The room was supposed to be marina view. It was the last room on one end of the Fiji longhouse. The view was of very overgrown vegetation. It was so dense that you could barely see through it. Walking out on the balcony was like walking into a forest. I marched down the front desk and demanded to be moved immediately. Fortunately, I was able to move down the hall to a room with a better view.

Yeah I called member services who basically told me since I checked in it's out of their hands. The member services person I spoke to was very nice and she agreed for the number of points we're paying and as a DVC member herself this is not okay and she herself said that this number of points could get you 2 nights at a resort. But essentially she told me to go back and ask for a supervisor. So I went back and did just that. No other villas available at Grand Flo or Bay Lake. They offered me the standard studio rate in the tower which was a difference of 9 points or 300 dollars. I would've taken a TPV at BLT but they sadly did not have that so I settled for the 300 dollars. If they send me a survey, I will definitely be voicing my frustration. Under no circumstances should anybody paying for a TPV room at the Poly tower be put into the 1st floor in an accessible room without a view of said theme park.
That is what I was noticing. The rooms that they walk you through for the tour are considered theme park view, and no theme park can be viewed. I hope they do some reassignments, otherwise that can get pricey with having to accommodate everyone

At least your room was the size you booked and at the same resort. I’d take a crappy view over being given the choice to downsize your room or downgrade resorts.

Ive wondered how the view reclassification works. Does Disney have to eat the cost of the points since the room view didn’t exist to justify the points they sold or do they just rebalance the cost by changing points of the room views overall? I really feel like this is happening enough if they pocket the points and just rebalance it’s some sort of fraud. They shouldn’t be able to constantly sell rooms as having a view it doesn’t and pocket the money from the points that never should have existed.

I thought this little blue spire was the tip of the castle but instead it's Space Mountain.
That meets the letter of the law, unfortunately. From the point chart:
Theme Park view includes at least a partial view of Magic Kingdom Park.

Even though this is technically true, I suspect there will be some view reassignments as was done at BLT and AKV-K.

Back to the OP's question. I'm currently sitting in 5625 at OKW, a lockoff 1BR, which overlooks the corner of Peninsular and South Point on one side, but a lovely view of the woods on the other. I think I had one in Turtle Pond once which was worse, but not by much, and as bad views go it's still just fine. The studio side would have been much worse; they front the road directly.

Wow. I thought my dumpster view at BRV was bad, that is ridiculous.
Lol, I've been in that studio. Down at the end of the hall?

Our other 'worst' was a standard view at Aulani with a view of a roof. Which, technically, was a standard view. But honestly, we don't hang out in the room very much.

Spoke to member services again for them to formally file a complaint and ask for a reclassification of the room in question which now that I'm no longer in the room is 8108
If you haven't done so already, write to Member Satisfaction. Written feedbak tends to carry more weight.

Get to sit and relax and see what bus passes. Can step right outside your front door and jump on, at bus stop, after it turns around just down the street. 😃
