Worst room you've ever gotten?

Wow! You are nicer than I am - i would want my points back. 300.00 is not compensation for that. They will probably need to redo their std. View rooms and reallocate accordingly.
I'm in the process of trying to discuss it with member relations after the email I sent. They called me once but I was working at that time. Since then it has been several weeks and I've left 3 voicemails that have not been returned.

Disney probably plans to adjust the BS TPV rooms at the tower at some point. Probably the plan from the get go. But it's nice I suppose for them to have the standard views at the lower point requirements to help sell the place, knowing that in the future they will raise the standard and other views to compensate for the BS TPV rooms. Wonder if they will pull this crap with Lakeside Lodge?

Since they tried to inflate the point charts with that lock off premium BS and failed, I think they will try anything to inflate the point requirements at the DVC resorts for thier benefit. Or anything that will result in even more profit for them with DVC. They just know that they have to go about it in a way that they can get away with it now, since the members will call them out on it.

Again, nothing wrong with DVC setting whatever point chart they want for a new project.

It’s nothing related to or even like what happened in 2020.

However, when they decide views, they should be at least what most would agree fit that category and why this situation doesn’t.

Views are definitely subjective and what I might feel is an issue, others may not.

I think it’s a stress to say first floors is TPV, and maybe they will find they need to change the words if they want other qualities to define it.

It’s why we now see SV called Resort View and all those specific wording for the next level up referred to as preferred….lots of leeway.

This is a new resort, and sometimes, they have to see how it plays out before adjusting.

I’m willing to give them time. They adjusted BLT, I’ve read they removed the trees blocking some of the TPV rooms at BPK…after feedback…

First, the dreaded 1221 which is a 2nd floor studio and also part of a lockoff. I guess now that they've been renamed "resort view," they are technically correct. It certainly wasn't "standard" for VGF because it was the other standard views are really quite good:

Ooh, I finally got this room last Nov. I arrived late and realized they put me in an accessible room. I asked politely for a room change and got this. I chuckled at the view but was glad that I didn't have to deal with a lowered bed, reduced hanging bar height in the closet, and the unusual bathroom set up.

Now I often do not state any room preference because I am always curious what we'll be assigned. If we're staying longer than one night I won't accept a first floor because every time they've been 'accessible' rooms, which I have an issue with the toilets (LOL!). I find this true if the room is 'available' upon check-in. At the BC we've had a villa with a huge balcony but I think the elevator shaft was behind our headboard. We also are always looking for the BC villa where our balcony looks out onto a 'Charlie Brown' pine tree - we've had that 3 times. SSR I might start requesting Congress again because the last two villas I kept getting lost. Our last room the bed was literally a foot from the floor, which was easy to get out, but the symmetry bothered me.

I've got to admit that I have no idea what a "Charlie Brown" pine tree is. Ironically, in our first year of DVC membership, more often than not we were given HA rooms, which we neither wanted nor needed. One time, I even asked at the front desk "Is this room HA?" "Oh, no, Ma'am" Yet when we got there-yup, it was. Now, almost 25 years later, we're requesting HA rooms. Times change.
So our "worst"-at that time-was our very first DVC stay, when we got put in a HA villa, and were told we'd have to pay a $25 room change fee to change. When I told her that I needed a tub, she laughed and said "Oh-you're DVC now-a tub is a request, not a guarantee." And when I went to charge a small purchase to my room one day, but the charge was declined, and the CM called the resort and gave the phone to me, the CM just said "Gee, I don't know why!" and hung up. We almost sold our membership after that first trip-it probably would have been one of the shortest ownerships ever.

I understand when I book a standard view room, it could be bad, it could be nice. Stayed twice at the Yacht Club, standard view, once with a view of the quiet pool, the other a view of the roof. It was just the way the dice landed and I was OK with that.

I think it was/is their plan to adjust it in a year or 2, this way they sell more overall points for the building but are able to make it appear that Resort/standard, or preferred look cheaper. When they remove some of the rooms from TPV and possible lower some preferred views DVD isn't taking those points out of their pocket, they will be distributed to raise the points cost for other rooms.
For those that think PIT is a high point cost now, wait until TPVs get downgraded.

Except total points will remain the same on sold whether they reallocate or not…and they still have the resort view and preferred view at the longhouses to consider.

Right now, they matched them so I don’t see any benefit in that has them now having different point charts.

Regardless, that is nothing new because we all know that points can go up and down as long as chart balances to total points sold.

Now would be the time for DVD to reclassify before all rooms are declared and sold.

I stil am willing to give them time to make adjustments to make rooms views match what most would think fit.

Exactly my mind set. Thinking this was intentional from the get go. Whether they reallocate or not, it's more points for them to sell and fatten thier wallet.

Worst room we have gotten was just recently at AKV-Kidani. we "splurged" on a1BR, as we usually do Studios, but it was in the middle of our 8 weeks so thought it nice to have the washer/dryer and spread out for a week. All of our other room requests were spot on (HHI/Vero/BWV/SSR/AKV-JAMBO), but we got an ADA 1 Bedroom - so the showers were funky, the tub was ADA compliant, the sink was a different height, and the room was OLD!! Much different than the Kidani -1 BR that we had several years ago.
I was happy to give it up for the Jambo Studio.

My cons about the tower itself only relate to having to walk to the GCH for the mercantile, gift shop, and most of the restaurants.
That is similar to the DVC buildings at VGF and BLT - you have a bit of a walk to get to the hustle and bustle.* I kind of like it - and am looking forward to trying PIT... someday.

*admittedly we often split-stay with RIV where it's all in 1 building and so convenient.

I’ve had the dumpster view at beach club. It was only for one night before our stay at the Riviera. I didn’t care one bit and I’m going back for a week in May at beach club. However it it could be disappointing for people who want to sit on the balcony. It was pretty noisy with laundry trucks coming in and out.

Idk why but I feel like the 1BR and up at AKV seem a lot worse than the studios. Maybe it's because the studios don't have the hideous doors that the 1/2BR does

Yes, I agree, but at least at the grand Floridian, you have a covered walkway. Not the case for Polynesian tower. I actually did do a split stay with Riviera for this trip so I was probably spoiled by that experience before moving to the Polynesian. Also, we ate at Kona Café a couple times And thought it was very mediocre. overall, I was not moved to buy poly points, at least not by this trip.

Yep. I wasn't going to mention it but the covered walkway makes everything so much easier. And we always do Riviera as the second half of a split stay because it's so much more relaxing than being in the MK area. Hubby and I are split on whether VGF or RIV are our favorite. Poor BLT was our first resale contract (first contract ever) and we are looking forward to the refurbished rooms on our next stay! Last August we were there and it was ... sad. Not much of a view and sorely in need of the refurb.
