Worst room you've ever gotten?

Yeah I have had something broken in a lot of the rooms I have had. Usually it is just a broken outlet or two that are too loose and won't charge anything. I have also had some sliding shower doors that won't stay closed and the worst thing was the dishwasher in a BRV room that wasn't attached to the counter/cabinets. If you opened the door and then slid the bottom rack out the entire dishwasher tilted forward and emptied its contents onto the floor

Basically any time the CM says the room is ready after receiving a text saying room is not ready then figure there is something wrong with the room. In that case I would always ask about the focus of the room for us, which in the OP's situation was the view. If they think that room was a theme park view, then there is an issue. Of course, the Tower is new so room view reassignments will happen.

Worst roo. b
Poly-"lake view" was first floor with bungalows blocking and we were at an end cap Morea with housekeeping area-door to get to elevators ect. so lots of noise/traffic. BTW I love the endcap with ferries so I guess my noise acceptance can be argued! LOL Not horrible, but when you pay "those points" annoying. That room category has since been changed. We moved rooms.
BLT-grandvilla. Views of marina-gorgeous. However the room was so beaten up-huge dents in stainless steel fridge, looked like someone threw baseballs at it. Furniture scratched/worn really bad, the carpet was thread bear and had wrinkles so we were tripping. We had brought people so it was a bit embarrassing.
AK-Kidani The fridge wouldn't close-had to throw out food it was warm after we returned from a park day. The queen pullout was so bad even the topper they brought did not help. Understand my son is always on the queen pullout and never had a problem before and the twin chair/bed was broken so there was a bend in the bed, my daughter was not comfortable with that. No resolution for that.
We have been members since 2012 so not a bad run if those were the really only ones that stand out.

Damn, that's disappointing to hear about the BLT grand villa. I was actually kind of hoping to make that a regular place eventually my family stays at. Since I have 300+ of RIV was planning to use that for a 2BR for 5+ days a night and then pick up a 150 ish pointer BLT with alternate banking with a 150 points Poly for a Grand Villa/2BR penthouse 2 nights a year. The new refurb seems nice, I just hope it lasts.

This was easily our worst experience. Poly 'lake view' room with the blocked view (bungalows) and the ferry horn going off from early morning until a couple hours after MK closing. Sadly, for as much as we love the Poly resort, that experience meant we're not staying there DVC again - until the Tower - might give that a try when we can get something at 7 months.....

We got allocated the handicap accessible room at VGF. It was a nightmare kitchen worktops too low wardrobe not tall enough to hang my dresses handicap ironing board.

Our Feb 2025 trip to Jambo House. Split stay with 6 nights BRV, 6 Jambo and 2 CC cabins.

Good and bad. Had my in-laws for their first resort experience in a 2 BR lockoff. The one BR portion had only one sink and a very small vanity unlike many of the other 1 BRs. Jambo feels, to me, much like a military style dorm. Not at all what I would consider deluxe. But the pros, no question, was the Savannah view having 5 giraffes visit throughout our 6 days.

BRV was, surprisingly to me, amazing. I loved it. Only negative was that I did not realize that the 5th floor 1BRs have the pullout couch instead of the Murphy beds. Ours girls didn’t complain, but I hate that I”missed” that one. We could have moved, but they loved having the corner view room with all the windows.

Sometimes it just works out differently than you planned it…and that’s ok.

I’ve been lucky not to get any really bad rooms. I’d say my 2001 stay at OKW in building 28. Trees blocked the view and made the room dark.

Our worst was BWV. We booked a boardwalk view studio and ended up looking at the sidewalk/grass area outside the back entrance to the resort. It was super depressing especially for my DH who had been wanting to stay at BWV forever, and this was definitely not looking at the boardwalk from that side angle.

Do you remember that room number? Are you talking about the Village Green area where they put the Xmas tree and have the artificial turf?

Sorry your family didn't get to enjoy the Boardwalk view.

When i checked in the people who checked me in said “oh its a water view” at which point I was like uhhh its supposed to be a theme park view but sure. And then they told me it was a first floor room and I was like well great 😑 so much for my 7th floor or higher request. And THEN when I got into the room thats when I found out it didn’t have any view of a theme park it was also an accessible room which just made me laugh at that point. I was listening to an old DVC podcast and they pretty much said if you’re more specific and give room numbers they’re more likely to fill your requests but that the exact opposite happens with Poly which ended up being true. I’m not sure why I bother with room requests anymore, I seem to frequently get the opposite of what I request.
I'm sorry this has happened again. It's almost as if they feel if they keep doing this people will give up and put up. Bad room descriptions have happened at so many resorts to include BWV, BLT, AK Jambo, and now Poly Tower, may be more but not jumping in my head right now.

During my recent end of February trip to BWV I got the exact rooms I requested. I felt 'lucky'. Now, I have to say I've rarely requested any room in the past, just usually a specific area. Room was a Boardwalk View 2 bedroom lockoff.

When I'm alone, I will usually be happy to get a 1st floor room. I'm at the point of ownership where it doesn't matter what the view is as I've seen them all and convenience is more important to me. I won't be booking any theme park rooms unless it's the only thing left available. When grand kids are there, it's where's the pool? They are still young and don't really spend time gazing at anything off the balcony other than to say 'can we go there?'. I just want the quickest trip to my car, the buses if necessary, out the back to DHS and off to Epcot. Usually works out for me as I can get this without a request, lol as it's not what most want.

Hey everyone, I just checked into the Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Resort. I booked a theme park view studio for 1 night for 39 points per night back in December. Some time last week, I requested to be placed on floor 7 or higher. I'm not sure who I hurt or what I did to deserve this but I ended up with a first floor accessible room. No view of Magic Kingdom whatsoever. Attached is the room view we got. Plenty of people walking by I promise. Also attached is the accessible shower we did not request. Pretty disappointed since this was just a one night staycation. I know the 7th floor or higher was never guaranteed, but being given a room that clearly does not have a view of Magic Kingdom and is also an accessible room when paying 39 points a night for a studio is unacceptable. They did finally agree to give me 300 dollars as compensation but I was kind of hoping to use this trip to help the wife see why we should own at Poly and I'll admit it's left a sour taste. Anyways, it just made me wonder what were some of your least favorite rooms you were assigned? View attachment 943388

That's unacceptable. The points chart for this resort is very high, and to call that a TPV is ridiculous, what about the famous "guest experience"? Clearly that wasn't a consideration when classifying these rooms. I was excited about the new tower until I saw the points chart. I'm glad that put me off. Sorry you had to deal with that. I hope you have better luck in future. The worst I've ever had doesn't even compare. It was a Savannah view room at AKV Jambo where we had a view of a large circular fenced area of dirt. The only animal we saw was a lonely ostrich pecking it's way around that fence. The room was great though (new at the time) and close to the lobby.

Studio room at beach club villas immediately next to the elevators. I'm not normally sensitive to that kind of thing, and my husband sleeps through anything. We were both up all night long from elevator noise. It was insane. Never heard anything like it. They moved us to a standard room in the main hotel the next day without any issue.
We’ve also had the BCV near elevator racket experience. In our case, we had a 1BD and the master bedroom wasn’t too terrible but the kids were sleeping in the living room and the cranking was loud (and unsettling) from about 5AM until 1AM, we now request rooms away from the elevator.

The ferry horn is *so loud* if you are not an early riser (but maybe helpful if you have kids it’s hard to wake in the AM 🤣). We were thrilled to get a lake view room at BPK instead of the standard room we booked but ultimately didn’t enjoy the view enough to offset the terrible night’s sleep (we are not rope droppers).

Last weekend we stayed in the first floor in VGC and had a similar issue— except it’s the theme park music coming from DCA itself. With the door closed the music isn’t too audible but the base (I think) pulses through the whole room at short intervals. We’ve had rooms in that block before and typically they turn the music off between midnight and 2AM, but somebody forgot to turn it off last Friday and I was stirring awake all night.

@intamin — I hope that DVC takes care of your family and appreciate you taking the time to try to prevent the rest of us from arriving to a TPV only to realize it’s a lake view with no theme park (especially at the breathtaking TP premium). I personally would be happy to get back $300/night for a view downgrade, but that’s because I’m the kind of point miser who would never book TPV in the first place. 🤪 They should not be baiting and switching the big point spenders!

I'm not even typically a big point spender, I'm a value studio type of person 🥹 but I was hoping for just one night to have a really nice view and relax at the resort and convince her to consider Poly as our next home and unfortunately it's done the opposite. Funnily the best part of our staycation was relaxing in the lazy river at Blizzard Beach before we actually checked into Poly.

The weird thing for us at BCV with our 1BDR was that we weren't even what I would have considered "close" to the elevators. For us it was the motors were down the hall and directly overhead our bedroom side of the 1BDR. It was the winding up and spinning down that was nearly constant ebb and flow of sounds. Took days for them to move us and I was a zombie for those few days. So now I'm not just afraid of being near elevators but also being on a top floor even if we're not "close" to the elevators.

Definitely does not make me want buy into BCV!

We stay at BCV 2-3 times each year. I'd say we've run into a room with 'noise' issues (elevator mostly) about 1 in 10 trips. I expect at all the resorts there are those rooms that have elevator noise, or the HVAC is noisy, or the ice machine is across the hall.... But most of our experiences, especially BCV, have been pretty good. We've been more annoyed with the occasional family groups (adults and kids) yelling to each other going down the hall returning at midnight or leaving at 6AM to start their day - and it doesn't matter which resort it is. You can't overcome that loud rudeness.

One thing we have found helps a little is putting a bunched towel beneath the door at BCV (I think we’ve done it at BWV also)— definitely helps absorb a little bit of the hallway sound. We also travel with a white noise (rain) app and I try to have a few pairs of earplugs just in case. I get so little sleep on WDW vacations I need to maximize it!
