WOC-Fastpass Availability

Hi! WOC newbie here! Read through many of the pages on the "stickie" on these boards, but didn't really see my question answered: I read that you can avoid doing the dining package (I have an autistic son who just doesn't do "fancy" food!), by heading over to the fastpass area in Cali Adventure first thing and getting a fastpass for a color coded section. In the description it said "7 AM". We are staying only in a Good Neighbor hotel, not on site. Is that 7 AM opening only for onsite guests? For you WOC vets, is getting to the fastpass machine at regular guest opening early enough to get a fastpass? We would really like to avoid the dining package, but also don't want to miss WOC. Frankly, this whole thing about sections, views, railings, etc. sounds rather overwhelming! thank you!!!

I just checked park hours for when we will be there - the end of June. Didn't realize they were up yet. Looks like there will be 2 WOC shows each night. That should help, right? Figure if we get there an hour or so before opening, line up in the "esplanade" (took me a while to figure out what THAT was! ), then at opening to right to that specific fast pass machine. Hopefully we will be able to avoid the dining package. Am I on track with this? Thanks!

The fast pass machine opens at the same time as the regular park (not magic morning/early entry) hours each day, and they don't run out for hours. I think around 3pm lately?

Thank you so much! That makes me feel better! I think we should be ok by just grabbing fast passes, and avoiding the dinner package.

Right here on wdwinfo. I clicked on theme parks, then park hours. And it let me go to June. Maybe they aren't official. Maybe they just listed hours based on previous years.

Boy, do I feel stupid!! I just double checked and it goes from December 2013, to January 2013!! So the hours I thought I saw were from June 2013, not 2014! Thanks for catching that for me!
