Wk of Mar 16 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Well... as promised I am still here and making it a point to post on a regular basis!! I even joined one of the teams to make sure I don't disappear again!! Seems as if it were meant to be! Today as DH and I were getting ready to run some errands he decided to tell me to go ahead and sign up for the Minnie. Previously he had been dead set against me doing ANY Disney races for a while. Maybe it was seeing me face when my Completion Certificate came from Disney today, but whatever it is I am THRILLED!!

Mel - Awesome Tattoo!! I love it! I already have a "tramp stamp" but really want another tattoo, something for my running. I just haven't found one yet. Your is so cool!!

Stephanie - Don't feel bad. I have been bailing on LR's since being back from Disney too!! Now that I am training for the Minnie I have something to get me back out there!!

Kelley - Congratulations for both DS and DD!!

Stacie - Holy Cow!! And here I thought my DH was great for agreeing to let us go to the Minnie Marathon!! I would die for a Garmin (okay not literally).

Dana

Hi Team :)

Wow...quiet around these parts!

Scott, Shan, Cecilia, Carol A...and other INGers: You guys must be getting excited. The race is right around the corner. Glad that they are putting Atlanta back together again after a very SCARY weekend! Since I can't get to the race to cheer on Scott in person...I'm going to be tracking him. I hope they have that option anyway. Wish I could be there to cheer you all on!

Dana: Nice to see you! And you've had some smokin' fast paces lately. I don't think you missed a beat since the Marathon! WTG!!! :thumbsup2

Stacie: You're going to do awesome in the half! It's always great though to hear good stories about races to help us with the confidence.

Debra: WOW! I'm sooo happy for you that you not only had a GREAT run..but also some great XT too. That's awesome news. Do you think it's the influence of Chi running? I've felt really really good after my runs when in the past I've felt achey and generally not good. I believe in the Chi! ; )

Jen: Cool on the new TM!!!! Hope you got a totally tricked out version :).

As for me....I had a GREAT run today...and the best part is that I hit the pace I want to hover around for the Minnie!!! I went out for an easy run and finished the first 3 miles in 26:36...a very solid pace for me! I then decided to slow it down and recover for a mile so I finished the entire run in 36:17! :yay: I was SHOCKED needless to say..since I had just taught a harder level Pilates Class AND spent an 75 min with my Pilates Trainer doing some advanced reformer work. It was really a pleasant surprise and I firmly belive all the the Chi Running principles that I've been applying to my runs are the main reason I had so much success today! I'm pretty tired now as I just got back from teaching another Pilates class this evening...but I'm feeling great about the days' activities! Tomorrow I hope to get on the bike trainer since it's supposed to rain all day :(.

Have a good evening everyone!

GOOD EVENING TEAM :upsidedow

OK I could handle the bad run on Saturday but another one today is pushing it.:sad2: But while I was dragging myself the last 1.5 miles I had a revelation  the weeks that I was pumping out my fast runs that actually felt good I was doing at least one day a week of some really good speed work on the treadmill at the gym. So guess who will definately be doing that at least one day a week again. Plus I have not been eating enough :rolleyes1

OK so not feeling so positive tonight. I'm not totally discouraged but just a little...... unmotivated.

Hey y'all!

Haven't been out here much - sorry, lots of work these past few weeks. Hope everyone is doing well...

But here is what I did instead of posting:

DD5 calls it Daddy's Firebird :goodvibes

And here is it with a Peep to judge the size:

So DW and I got inked - I declined their offer to get Mickey with a chainsaw :scared1:

See ya,
Jeff

Hi WISH Team!

Jeff, nice BIG bird. Nice peep too!

Angie, sorry you've had 2 stonkers now. WISHing you get it figured.

WWDave, oh you had a Judy moment on TM, better than having a Carrie moment I'm thinking.

Bill, OMG! Great post!

Mel, sorry about the stonker b/c it's HOT there. Damp rainy season now. Flood warnings here.

Kristi, what's this I hear, You've registered! :yay:

Jen, good luck with TM shopping.

Stacie, love the story of the 71 y/o doing so well in the event. Encouraging to me too.

Debra, good job on the post C25K w/o. You're doing it!

Dana, good for you keeping that promice. It's good to have you here.

Amy, congrats on your run today.

Notice, I'm not reporting anything today. Looks like I'm doing every/other day stuff. So tomorrow...

Ark builders, can ya swing by here and pick up me and DH? We've got flood warnings around these parts tonight.

Jeff, I kinda thought you might get a running mustang with Mickey riding on it. Nice art work though, looks like you had a good artist.

Impressed Panda:hippie:

Lily--We'll send you the ark once we're finished with it. Some parts of our state got 8 inches of rain yesterday!:scared1:

Jeff--Nice artwork!:thumbsup2 You and Mel now get the "cool parent" awards!

Well, we'll see what happens this afternoon for my workout. I've rested the knee (minus a little bike trainer), so we'll see. Really nervous about it, b/c I really want nothing to be wrong. Okay, gotta hit the road. Have a great Wednesday all!

GOOD MORNING TEAM

After my stonker last night got up this morning and did 3 at gym on treadmill before body pump. It was much better.

Lily PLEASE DON'T FLOAT AWAY!!! I'm glad your recovery is coming along
Stephaniepixiedust: for your knee!! Let us know how it goes this afternoon.
Amy AWESOME workout!!! Last year my goal was to keep up with Stephanie at MINNIE but she won't be there. If I could keep up with you at that pace I would be VERY happy.:)
Dana Glad to see you here and VERY excited that you are coming to MINNIE, maybe if I didn't get side tracked by back surgery for a while I could have kept up with you at MINNIE

OK sorry team but I actually have to get some work done.

Plus I have not been eating enough :rolleyes1

Yeah, I found out the hard way that not eating enough can really hurt your running. Lucky for me, I have a great Dh who has been calling me every day at lunch time to remind me to stop and eat. The leg pain is better but I am still struggling with every run. This too shall pass.

Meanwhile, they have found multiple cancers in my Dad. This is round 4 with the big C monster. It doesn't look good forhim getting to watch me run the MCM after all. I had really hoped he could see me run at least one marathon.

MAJOR :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I really don't know what else to say but I am so sorry and much pixiedust: and prayers going out for you.

No training for me today. Rest day. :)

And I hate to rub this in (Kristi) but I got my finisher's certificate yesterday. :thumbsup2

Debra - Thanks for your kind words. :goodvibes And yes, we are VERY excited about BCV! I've been meaning to tell you, your posts are so impressive. Its obvious you put a lot of thought and work into them. That's very kind and supportive of you.

Confused on the TM Panda - Those paws must have been smokin'! :woohoo:

Dana
- Oh that is wonderful! :yay: Yay! I'm so glad you're coming.

Jen - Did you pick out a TM yet? Oh how very exciting!

Angie - You're such a thin little thing, I can't imagine you eat much anyway, but you MUST eat something when you are training. Please.

Jeff - COOL! :cool2: And OMG you are SOOOO funny! :lmao: A peep! How festive of you!

Cecilia - I'm sorry but I just can't relate to your "not remembering to eat" problem. OMG No! Oh Cecilia...I'm so sorry to read this about your dad. MAJOR prayers and :wizard: coming his way! :grouphug:

Still looking for Steve and Kristi.....Worrying now.....:guilty:

Judy - Don't ya' just love the rest days? I've become very fond of my Monday days of couch sitting & recovering! Congrats on getting your certificate.

AlohaJeff
- hmm...running, golfing and thin mints...sounds like we have the creation of a new event there! sign me up!

Cecilia
- Hope that leg pain goes away soon...don't need it acting up during the half. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, it sounds like he's in quite a battle...best wishes to you and your family.

Angie - Nice recovery from the stonker! I'm gonna send some hunger pains up your way..I've been a victim of the opposite lately, I can't stop eating!

Stephanie
- How's that knee holding up for you? I think you are smart going easy on it.

Lily - Did you survive the flooding??

Jeff & Mel
- Cool tattoos! Pretty neat that you got similar but different ones.

Dana - Way to go on signing up for the Minnie! Looks like we'll have a HUGE WISH representation at the events :)

Debra
- Wow...awesome workouts!! Nothing like that feeling you get afterwards. I'm assuming the tiredness has passed?

Stacie - How's the Minnie training coming along? Also, what kind of gel did you try? There are some big differences in how they taste...just curious :goodvibes:

Shan - How's taper madness treating you??

Amy - GREAT JOB!! That run was awesome. Seems like relaxing and incorporating some Chi running principles has really taken you to a new level. Can't wait to see what we can do come Minnie weekend....which leads me to:

I've finally taken the plunge and signed up for the ING Georgia Half Marathon. I've been struggling with the decision based on the fact that I've run ALL of my halfs and fulls with Amy. We're a team, she's the best running partner in the world and it will be very strange not having her out there with me. Being a local event, it doesn't have the hoopla and excitement that the events we travel to do, so that was a bit of an aid in the decision. I'm sure some of you are thinking "what's the big deal"...but Amy and I share a close bond in relation to running/training and it's something I hold close to my heart. I just wanted to publicly thank her for the awesome support and understanding...I would not be where I am today without her.

Sappiness over...I completed my 6.2 miler yesterday in 55:31 (8:57mpm). The weather was awesome and it was a good run for me as a whole. I think things are lining up for me to have a strong 5k this weekend. Tonight will bring 30-45 minutes of cross training, probably a combo of the elliptical and stationary bike.

I hope everyone is having a great week!! Sorry for the lengthy post!

Hi everyone

Forced rest day...for good reasons and bad. The good is that I'm babysitting my adorable 4 month old niece! :goodvibes She's so precious :). The bad is that later today I have to go to a memorial service for a friend who passed after a long battle with brain cancer :(. So it's a bittersweet day for me. The rest will be good for my body though as I'm really feeling the 3 + hours of exercise I did yesterday.

Scott:  Congrats on taking the plunge. You're going to do awesome!!!

Cecilia: I'm so terribly sorry to hear about your father's struggle. I'll keep you in my thoughts...I was really hoping you'd get to run MCM with him there (saw your post on the Philly thread). He sounds like an incredible fighter though...so I'll continue to send tons of PD that he remains as comfortable as possible as he continues to battle that ugly disease :(.

Judy: You got your certificate!!! :thumbsup2 How cool!!!! Still waiting for mine.

Angie: OMG...you won't need to keep up with me girl...you're sooo speedy!!! I predict an incredible Minnie race time for you :). And you deserve it after the back issues you struggled with this past year!!

Stephanie: Sending lots of PD and Hugs your way....hoping that knee issue has resolved itself! Just don't push and take it easy if needed.

Scott I completely understand your sappiness :flower3: my DH TOTALLY pushed me to where I got by MINNIE last year. We had such a good push - but not too hard - relationship in our running. The only time I broke 7 minute miles was on some runs we had where he thought he was going to beat me!!! :) just kidding

It makes me so sad to not have him to be able to train with me anymore and believe it or not I have a hard time pushing myself sometimes without him there. It is going to be REALLY hard to train for my first full next year without him, but at least I have you guys.

Thanks for sending the hunger pains, it worked, after my workout this morning I ate a bannana, strawberries and some KASHI oatmeal. Wow that will hold me over all day :rotfl:
Amy Thanks for the encouragement, I hope your right I was very proud of what I accomplished at MINNIE last year. (It wass my first race by myself - without DH )
Judy Thanks for the compliment and you are right I don't eat that much but I'm HONESTLY not hungry most of the time, I always feel like I'm force feeding myself.

OK back to work again.

Cecilia - I am so sorry to hear what you and your famly are facing right now. I am sending tons of  and pixiedust: your way!!

Angie - Don't feel bad. I tend to forget to eat sometimes too. Granted, there are days when all I do is eat, so I guess it evens itself out in the wash!!

Ok, just got done working out for today. 30 minutes XT, mostly squats and lunges. Then a 4 mile run on the treadmill in 29:04!! Which comes out to like a 7:16 mile!! Where that came from I have no idea, but I'll take it!! Also, who was it that started the highlighting workouts in green? Whoever it is, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I started doing that about two weeks ago and it really helps me make sure I complete my workout. Who knew the idea of a red dot could be so motivating... maybe that's why Michael's teacher uses green yellow and red dots!!

Dana

Cecelia - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Dana - Congrats on teh great run!

Jeff - Nice art!

Angie - Glad you did ebtter today!

Dave - That's why I don't do math in my head while running!

Amy - WTG on teh great run!

Scott - I'm lost w/o my racing partner (dh). COngrats for getting over that and signing up!

Debra - Way to go!

Steohanie - Hoep that knee holds up for oyu!

Forget to eat??? Oh, I wish. :( The rest of my family had that problem adn I do understand that it is a problem. Just wish Ileaned that way alittle more. ;)

Did my yoga last night. Think she took it rally easy on us, but that was good. Gonna' try to run tonight. It's brrr chilly outside, though. :(
