Wk of Dec 2--WISH Walking/Running Club

Cecelia - I'd go fro windbreaker pants if you've got 'em.

Krista - Whereas I think the seam in my tights would not be so comfy.

Hey all!
Maherae, Thanks for sharing your fearsabout running with me! So cool you met the Penguin and asked him about training!
DH and I keep reading and rereading MFM!!
Idid not run today and feel guilty, but just needed a day for myself. I do feel well rested for the first time in weeks!

Hope everyone's runs are good this weekend. DH is out of town so we will run on Sunday not Saturday. I am glad it is a shorter run!

It is really getting close now isn't it!!
THanks for all your great words of encouragement and wisdom!
Nancy

OK! THis underwear thing is cracking me up...no pun :rotfl2:
No but really...like Krista siad...do you guys wear undies under your tights??? :confused3 HOW?
My shorts have built in underwear and with tights I wear NOTHING! TMI! :p

Judy...I have always wore my underarmer (SP??) tights except for the year that it was super HOT! I think that was 05. I am really cold natured though.

:teacher: Let's see. Undies on. Pretty much same as any other day. Then, don tights. Not all that hard. :confused3 Been doing it since I was 11 or 12.

Wow! a potty trainig nightmare!

OMG!! You guys are cracking me up. :rotfl2: I wore 2 pair of pants last year the top ones were throw aways that I kept on until about mile 6-7. I wore my LS marathon shirt we got in the bag. It was stinkin cold! And I had been training in that weather but it was very cold to be haning around in. I also had a big fleece sweatshirt I wore at the start & then put in my gear bag. I also needed it for the end.

I'm going to bring clothes for all possibilities. January in Florida is never predictabe.

Talk about germs, I am subbing at an elementary school that has the stomach virus & strep running rampant!!! The kids & teachers are dropping like pukin' flies! (pretty picture huh?)

My training is barely there with all that's going on & my ankle still bothering me.

Off to basketball practice!

Continue with the underwear talk :teeth:

Last year, I wore running tights/pants of Howard's but the seam down the front of the legs irritated my legs with the friction in the cold. Over them, I wore a pair of sweatpants that were from my 65 pound heavier days. On the top, I think I wore the long sleeved race shirt and then my WISH shirt on top of that and 2 throwaway sweatshirts again many sizes too big. I peeled off the oversized sweatpants and one of the sweatshirts before the start and then the other sweatshirt within the first mile. I was wayyy too warm by the finish, so I am disinclined this year to wear a long sleeved tee as the bottom layer.
Oh, and I found a pair of wicking underwear on junonia before the 1/2 last year and have used them for events -- I "save" them for events because I haven't been able to find another pair since then.
My plan this year is panties, bike shorts, running skirt (with the shorts cut out of them) and throwaway sweat pants. Top will be jogging undergarment, WISH shirt, throwaway long sleeve tee, and one or two throwaway sweatshirts. An old blanket will go with me to the start, first for stretching on the ground and then to wrap myself and fellow WISHers in, if necessary.
Oh, and I was on the junonia website today and found really cute wigwam brand wicking socks in lime green! I LOVE this brand ever since I borrowed a pair of Howard's recently and how cool is is that they had lime green? :teeth:

Cam--Under Armor makes moisture wicking undies, you can get them at Dick's Sporting Goods or on-line. They even make moisture wicking thongs. :rolleyes1

I ain't wearin no thong! :lmao:

I do wear UA compression shorts under my running shorts. Wicks the sweat away and they're pretty comfy. They're also good for keeping things from juggling around, if you know what I mean. :teeth:

I'll bring along a little of everything and make a decision Friday night. :)

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh, ya'll are TOO MUCH !!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

My eyes!! My mind!!! Zebra butts, lime nose hairs, and commando..oh my!! We still have 4 weeks to go and we are barely hanging on..

Princess Nancy, I couldn't figure out why I had fears about running with you! :rotfl: Ask anyone, I'll walk with all ya'll and talk..and talk..and talk....

Tiffj, keep your hands washed and the Airborne/Zicam going!! Mickey is calling you!!!

Carrie How's the gym coming? or rather, your experiences with the machines? The first time is always the hardest..and you've got that done. :thumbsup2

Krista -- I am outrageously flattered that you think they'd make a size that would fit me.

I am with Anne -- :rotfl2: :lmao: :happytv: (this guy needs to be sitting in front of a computer!) :rotfl: pirate:  popcorn:: :rolleyes1

OMG - you guys! I am sitting here howling like a maniac! :lmao:

I for one, am with Krista & Christa - commando!!! :rotfl2:

Zebra butt has to be the line of the week. I think I am going to use that at work tomorrow! :rotfl:

I didnt' xt today - got busy with life & errands...

The undies are cracking me up!

I am getting some great tips on what to wear for my full. The cold didn't bother me for the half last year.

I figure it will be pretty warm by the end of my full, I plan on using every minute!

I did my 20 miler today, OMG what have I got myself into!!! I am actually feeling pretty good, funny thing is my butt hurts more than anything. I think I need some really tight tights to keep it from jiggling around.

Getting Goofy nervous!!

For those who asked what to wear at the start of the race, this is what people from south FL look like when it's 35 degrees outside at 4am.

And, since we're asking, commando all the way  I usually wear tights with shorts over them...don't need a third layer

All I can say is it's going to be an interesting WISH team photo this year :thumbsup2

As for keeping warm before the race: check out Target when they mark down the Christmas throw blankets. I bought a ton of them a couple years ago when the were marked down from $10 to $1! I still have a few, and they are Chad's (and now my) throw away blankets for keeping warm in the corrals.

If memory serves, I saw the blankets that cheap again last year too.

Yeah, yeah. I meant undies with running tights and shorts. :p

MickeySP - :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Yeah, my butt tends to hurt too. Must be that extra layer I wear. lol :teeth:

Anne - Thanks for asking about the gym. I actually made most of my faux pas (sp?) in my hotel gym in Houston last month, so I thought I'd be teh experienced one. ;) I've been power house cleanign the last 2 nigths, though and have not been cak. (yes, the house is that bad. ) WIll go back tomorrow.

Christa - Any decision on that half?

Vic - :rotfl:

Lily - The way we're heading, someone (or maybe everyone) will get banned by teh time taper madness really hits. ;) CAn you put in a good word with teh powers that be for us and get us off on temporary insanity? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK, DH and I deceided that we did nto have time for the gym last night. Plus my hip was really botehring me adn I knew that house cleaning and up and down the stairs would eb hardd enough w/o adding a work out. Excuses, I know, but I was hurting pretty bad after 2.5 hours of power cleaning, so I think it was the right choice. I don't know how it feels today as it's still frozen from icing on the way to work. If it's ok at the end of the day, I'll do 8 on teh TM tomorrow. If not, I'll do teh eliptical for 1.5 hours :scared:.

BTW, when did Vic's nose hairs go lime???? How'd I miss that?

Stranded in Philly on business (please don't get me started on US Air) working on 3 hours of sleep, but I had to comment on the underwear issue!!! :confused3

Commando for sure. :thumbsup2 I have never thought about wearing anything under spandex tights or running shorts with a built-in liner. I would feel like I was wearing a diaper or something.

I am so very jealous of all I have been missing around here due to vacation and business travel. I am doing a 20 miler tomorrow (if US Air can actually get me back home today) and promise to once again be a full-time WISH'er next week once my life is back to being relatively normal again.

I really have missed this thread and I hope you guys are doing wonderfully. I haven't even had time to skim posts or I would comment.

Best of luck to all in their training and LR's this weekend. :cheer2: :cool1:

TOO FUNNY!
I meant that wearing undies under running tights would seem to be very uncomfortable. B/C the tights are, well, tight.......so what is the reason for wearing them.....

this says it best....

No 1/2 for me this weekend....mean DH has an issue with us not having $$$$
