Good morning team!! Happy Friday!!!
Have I said lately how much I love you guys? Seriously, I do, and I love that we are training for this marathon together. I remember last year before the Wish dinner I felt indifferent about meeting, I was glad to meet, but if we didn't make it, it wouldn't be the end of the world. This year is totally different, I am so excited to meet every one on Friday, cheer on those doing the half on Saturday, run with those doing the full on Sunday, and celebrate with every one on Monday. The difference? I think we have a real connection this year, we're all friends. We can get on here and bring our problems and fears and somebody has the answer and every one is supportive and encouraging. We can share our victories and disappointments. And we all know we can laugh and have fun together. I am so glad I have my Wish Team!!
Okay, mushy time over! Who wants to hear my dingbat story? I think I see a hand, so here goes...you know how I hurt my IT band on Saturday and I have had IT band issues in the past, so I already had an ITBS band for my knee. On Tuesday, about 5-6 minutes into my run, I realized that I forgot to get my ITBS band out of our running drawer (we have a drawer in our dresser that hold all of our running junk--Garmins, mp3 players, chargers, Body Glide, etc), so I stopped the treadmill and went upstairs to get my band. There was only one band in there, so I grabbed it and put it on. I thought it felt funny, I didn't remember there being a metal plate in the band and it was tiny!! I'm a fairly small person, I weigh 115lbs, so my legs are small, but I could hardly get the band around my leg--it was so tight! I got back on the treadmill and ran a couple more minutes and had to stop because I knew something was not right with this band. Back upstairs I went and searched the drawer, but I couldn't find anything else, so I finished my 3.5 miles with this band pinched around my lower thigh. I got off the treadmill, took the band off and I had marks on my leg because the band was so tight, but my IT band didn't hurt, so I didn't really question it, I did show Stephen the mark on my leg, but I don't really think he was paying attention. Fast forward to yesterday and my 4 mile run (by the way it was a good run, ran slower again, ave 11:26 miles, but zero pain) with my "ITBS band", again it was super tight and I had to stop 2 or 3 times to take it off and let my leg get some relief from the tightness. I thought to myself, how can I run for 5+ hours with this band on my leg when it's cutting off my circulation after 45 minutes? After my run, I went upstairs to change my clothes and I laid my band on the dresser. Later in the evening when Stephen and I were getting ready for bed, Stephen picks up my ITBS band and asks why I was running with that. I said "it's my band for ITBS", well Stephen started rolling on the floor, laughing and said "that's not an ITBS band, that's a band for runners knee--it goes BELOW your knee!!! here's your ITBS band" and he proceeds to dig my band out of a gym bag.
That's why the other band was so tight!! It's made for a smaller part of the leg!!! I was so happy to see my correct ITBS band--big and stretchy!!!!! I swear my hair is not blonde! (Sorry Heather and all of the other blondes out there!)
Dave--How 'bout them Stillers???? Why couldn't they have played like that all year?? I truly think Ben is 100% now and that's the difference.
Vic--You are a riot! Why didn't you find us sooner??
