Hi Everyone-
Well, I managed to run my 6 miles today. This was by far my toughest run mentally. It was WAY WAY harder than the 10 miles I ran yesterday. I had been warned that the next two weeks were going to be tough but this was brutal. Making it worse was that it was on a treadmill. Here is how it went:
2.4 miles: I am hating life and running. Everything from the hips down aches a little. I cut the TM to a WALK and drink some powerade. I decide I will just run 3 miles. I crank up the speed to get it over with.
3.2 miles: oops I got distracted by the news and forgot to stop at 3. Might as well run 4 and try to salvage my pace for the day. Spend next .6 miles trying to figure out how long it will take me to get to a 10 mpm pace.
3.8 miles: I have almost regained my 10 mpm pace so I will go to 5. Crank up the speed a little to regain my pace faster.
4.9 miles: My favorite song is about to come on. Who programed my MP3 player? I will keep going so I can listen....Crank up the speed so I can run to the beat.
By the way, the aches went away at about mile 4. Which fits in with exactly what I was told to expect. I ended up running the 6 in 58 minutes for a pace of 9:40. Not to shabby for someone who was ready to quit at mile 2.
