WISH Away the Pounds June Challenge -- Starting a Successful Summer!

Just need to post how proud I am of myself!!

Had a totally healthy and OP lunch! I think I mentioned in the past that lunches while at work are one of my biggest problems. I like the social aspect of going out with people and since I live alone, having company for one meal of the day matters and I am lucky that a number of my colleagues actually are very good friends. BUT it is difficult to plan for and there are so many temptations and then for whatever strange reason the usual lunch hour here at work is 11:30am!! I usually am in the office from 9am to 6pm, so eating lunch that early is totally crazy. And we are totally free as to when to take our lunch break, so there is no need for that early eating.

Today nobody of my usual friends was availabe and instead of just going with just someone to the work cafeteria, I decided to go for a later lunch at 1:15pm and went to a new place that has a "design your own salad" option. Had lettuce, ruccola, tomato, mango and chicken with their low fat house vinaigrette and a piece of homemade wheat bread. It was delicious, not high in points (so that I was able to have a small cappuccino as a treat afterwards) and now makes me happy and motivated!

I also feel that I am starting to get used to eating less again. Yesterday I did well until in the evening I started to snack on my muesli-mix (dry, out of the box...). That was not good, but at least not tooooo bad either.

Good morning all! Thank you SO MUCH for all of the wonderful birthday wishes! I really appreciate it and I feel so loved!

I had lots of fun Facebook wishes yesterday too.... both my DH and my DD posted pictures of me and such and of course, DS popped on to say happy birthday to his old Mom as well.

I managed to visit my parents, my MIL, and my daughter in one day. I brought my Mom, MIL, and DD each a pink rose to let them know that they are special in my life. And my DD wrote me the MOST AMAZING letter! I will ask her permission to share some of it here, but the gist of it was a "50 reasons I think my mom is great" list and what an amazing list it was! I didn't realize I was so wonderful!:rotfl: I've got my pictures from our weekend birthday adventures on the computer finally and I'll share those here tonight.

I'm working today thru Friday, but I'm pretty sure I'll have time to pop on here late today while my class is in Special or during movie time this afternoon. I'll read and reply and answer the QOTD then... for now, I've gotta dash and get ready for 3rd grade! It's gonna be a HOT ONE today, as this classroom is on the sunny end of the building and my classroom temperature is already 80 degrees!! Hope we can find a way to stay cool and comfortable!

Good morning, friends! :)

Happy birthday, Pamela! A day late, but I hope you're still enjoying your new number! :dance3:

QOTD Tuesday: Well, we looove Disney. Of course. Last summer, we went to San Francisco and then drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica before heading to Anaheim and Disneyland for a few days. It was amazing. But this summer we're going to Aulani! I might have a new favorite in a month or so...

QOTD Wednesday: Woo hoo for actually getting up at 615 and being out the door running at 6:30! It was already 75 degrees out, and I felt every bit of those 3.1 miles, but I'm so glad I did it!

I'm leaving this afternoon for a short work trip, and I'm trying to plan ahead to keep up the good momentum I have going here. Tonight I'll see a girlfriend who lives near my hotel. Tomorrow morning, I have a very short run on my Dumbo training schedule, so I've packed my running stuff for the fitness center. Also packing a banana, a Luna bar, and a Graze snack for breakfast and a morning snack so that I avoid the temptation of the hotel cafe/room service. I think I'll be able to get lunch on my own, so I shouldn't be subject to the meeting food, but I need to figure out my best options in the area. Then I head back, and I can do Subway for dinner before rehearsal. So hopefully I can find a good salad place for lunch and stay totally OP tomorrow! Definitely planning on a glass or two of wine tonight, though. ;)

Then it's back here for half a day, and we're off to Charlottesville for the weekend! We're meeting my dad and a long-time family friend there, and we're taking the kids to Monticello. The history geek in me is so excited - I haven't been since I was about DD9's age, and they're both really into Thomas Jefferson and this era of American History. We're back early Sunday to say farewell to our wonderful UU minister. Too many goodbyes these days for my taste, but I wouldn't want to miss this. And there is that small matter of the solo I'm singing during the service!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week...I'm planning to finish this week strong and get my Friday morning WI done on time!

QOTD Tuesday June 17th: What is your favorite summer vacation destination?

Mini Challenge: 10 minutes of physical activity! We can all find time to move for 10 minutes, whether its in the morning before work, during a break, or in the evening. If you want to go for more, that's great!

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

Well, because it is tradition and we always have lots of fun, I'll say that my top two summer vacation destinations are East Sandwich Beach in Sandwich, MA (on Cape Cod) for July 4th (actually, usually the 3rd-5th at least) and Great East Lake in Wakefield, NH. We have been spending July 4th on the Cape since 2001 (with DH's family) and it is always wonderful. Depending on when the 4th falls, sometimes we are there for nearly a week and sometimes we are there for just a day or two, but it is always so much fun! Tons of fireworks, yummy eats AND healthy eats, some shopping, playing and bonfires on the beach and SUN!

Our summer family vacation week on the lake has taken place since the summer I was pregnant with DD, so 19 years this summer! It is USUALLY my family, my brother and his family, my parents, my aunt and uncle (who are my mom's sister and my father's brother) and my double first cousins and both of their families! So 21 of us all together if we all attend, but as the cousins get older and busier, there have been some summers lately where at least one of them is missing. Sadly, this year, that will be DD. She will only be able to be there for part of the week, as she will still be doing her internship in Boston two days that week.

Over the years we have had to make a few changes... sometimes we are together in one (large) cottage and other times we are in two that are next door... but last summer and this summer we are in two cottages that are NOT together... but we can boat or kayak the distance or of course drive to each other's camp.

QOTD Wednesday June 18th:
Its Woo Hoo Wednesday! Its time to share any healthy living moments you've had this past week. :cool1:

Mini Challenge: Its also Water Wednesday! Be sure to drink your water!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone!

WOWza.... hard to come up with healthy moments I've had this week! :rotfl2: So far it has been full of birthday cake, cheese cake, cocktails, and yummy-but-fattening restaurant meals! I guess I'll say that I made the healthy choices when I could (like breakfast at home) and splurged when it seemed appropriate.... so I tried to find a good BALANCE and still enjoy my birthday goodies! And the remaining birthday cake will hit the trash today if DS doesn't eat it.... I know that is sad and wasteful, but necessary.

And it is currently 83 degrees in my classroom, so I am DEFINITELY drinking my water today! And tomorrow is field day and I am in charge of kickball for 6 hours, so I'll be drinking tomorrow as well!

My students are watching The Lego Movie and I'm trying NOT to watch it because I want to take DS to see it at the cheap theater next week on the first day of summer vacation! I know I'll enjoy it once, but it isn't something I want to see twice in a row!

Good job finishing STRONG! ...........P

Morning all and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! Yes, today I turn the big 5-0! :thumbsup2 And I truly don't feel it! I feel better and look better than I did in my 30's (if I may say so myself ;) ).

I'm off to do some visiting (my Mom, daughter, and possibly MIL) and let these folks know how important they are to me!

I cannot predict food for today, but after splurging here and there for the last three days, I really need to keep the eating in check! But hey, you only turn 50 once, so if I splurge again today, so be it! But of COURSE, you can rest assured that I WILL be RIGHT BACK ON TRACK starting with breakfast tomorrow morning.

I am dashing off for now (gotta hang laundry before I leave.... time, tide, and dirty clothes wait for no man... or woman! :rotfl: ). TTYL...............P

Its Woo Hoo Wednesday! Its time to share any healthy living moments you've had this past week. :cool1:

Mini Challenge: Its also Water Wednesday! Be sure to drink your water!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone!

My woo hoo is that I am trying very hard to avoid added sugars in foods (well, and sugar in general) and it is making me feel so much better!

It's so hot and humid here that I am gulping down the water!

Good evening!

QOTD June 16, 2014:
We have lots of "tips and tricks" threads all over the DIS, everything from FP+ to resorts to dining. If we had a healthy lifestyle "tips and tricks" thread, what would be your contribution?

Mini challenge: Plan your meals for the week. If you already did this you are ahead of the game!

If there are any lurkers out there who would like to participate, please feel free to share! :thumbsup2

1. Plan and track your food.
2. Try new exercises. You'll never know what you may end up loving!
3. Drink water, water, water.
4. Realize that nothing happens overnight and losing weight is a process, so don't give up!

Wow your race is here already, Jill! :cool2: Sounds like you are enjoying your summer so far although I think you are as busy as you are during the school year. ;)

Yes! Sunday is race day then I need to start running again for a 1/2 in October! I haven't been running since we are walking this half so my body will probably kill me when I start back up!

Lisa and I are proof that you can make lifelong friends thanks to the DIS. We "met" right here on the WISH boards and did the first Tinkerbell Half together in 2012. We've seen each other at one Disney park or another every year since. :cool2:

So awesome! I feel like I know everyone here and have been through some good and tough times with a lot of you. I talk about my dis friends to DH all the time :)

My healthy tip is have a Plan B for a healthy meal on those days when life gets in the way of your original plan. ::yes::

Yes! This is an excellent tip!

I had a great loss last week and received my 10% and 25 pound award at WW yesterday! :cool1: I will definitely make my goal for the month for the first time in a long time. :yay:

:sulley: Congrats!

Good job getting that exercise in! :thumbsup2

Wow...this is tough because we try new places each year and love them all. If I could only go one place (other than WDW) I would say Topsail Island, NC. I love it there. It's so laid back and not real touristy. Plus, it's not too bad of a drive from PA.

I know this is a day late, and I didn't know about this mini challenge until today, but I did walk with my sister yesterday. Then DS8 wanted to play wiffle ball at 1:30 in the afternoon in the heat and humidity! We played and had a good time laughing...and sweating!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am catching up but need to run to get DS11 from camp. So I'm going to post this so I don't lose it and I'll be back on later to chat :)
Wonderful progress everyone!
Good Morning everyone!
We are going to have a public holiday tomorrow, so today already feels like Friday. But you still have two more days until weigh-in day! :goodvibes
QOTD:
I think my good thing I did this week was starting to go running again. Need to go for another run today. Hopefully will get it done. I often find it difficult in the evenings to motivate myself to go out again. The good thing is that since the days are so long right now (sundown is at 9:30pm or later), I can go for a late run in the daylight. Need to make use of that time of the year before days are getting shorter again in a few days!
mini-challenge: That's one I never struggle with!! I am really good about drinking lots and lots of water! :thumbsup2 And I just bought a new cartridge for my sodaclub machine here at work, so that makes drinking water at work more interesting again as well!
Great job running in the evenings! That's a tough one for me. I have been going on a few evening walks lately, which has been nice.
QOTD:
Healthy living in the past three days has been completely bypassing that plate of cake my sister left on my counter. Unwrapped it last night in a moment of weakness but then realized that it wasn't worth it and wrapped it back up. My sister looked at me like I was crazy yesterday when she came over and the cake was still there. Cake doesn't last long in our house.
I stepped on the scale this morning in an attempt to keep myself motivated and I am EXTREMELY happy with the progress. My friend who is also on this challenge with me said her pants are falling off and her stomach is getting smaller. We text each other pretty much with every meal and tell each other what we are eating to kind of help keep us motivated and accounted for.
I still have 59 lbs to go before my goal weight but I am so close to my goal for this month and there is still almost two weeks left. Motivated Motivated Motivated.
Just have to say thanks to this thread because even though I don't post often....life gets in the way....I still don't think I would be doing this great without reading all the great stuff here.
I think my biggest healthy change lately is portion control. Knowing I don't NEED that second helping of whatever it is I am eating. Long road ahead but it's great to know I am not on it alone.
You are making amazing progress! :cool1: Congratulations!
Just need to post how proud I am of myself!!
:woohoo: look at all those pretty colors! :rainbow:
:woohoo: I'm going to the River Walk this morning for the first time in a long time since it is still cold and rainy here. :umbrella:
Water Wednesday is no problem for me and I did manage to get 1 AP yesterday so I am counting that as my 10 minutes. ::yes::
Kudos to you for running after work, Magdalene! :thumbsup2 I really struggle with evening runs myself. I love the idea of the sodaclub machine at work. :love: Enjoy your day off! :flower3:
How did I miss Lisa's post?! :goodvibes Woo hoo for getting to River Walk today.
We just found out our neighborhood is having a garage sale this weekend so I am in an organizing frenzy. I will be happy to get rid of some more of this stuff! There are a few things that don't fit into this house and I would be so happy to see them go.
It is an incredible lake..... not too many tourists/weekly visitors, so the lake is SUPER quiet from M-Thursday. So lovely and peaceful and the loon calls are frequent and haunting! I will ALWAYS associate the sounds of loons with summers on this lake. Glad it has another fan!
QOTD Thursday June 19th: What is your favorite source of healthy recipes? Do you have a particular cookbook, website, magazine, or blog that you enjoy?
Mini Challenge: Research a new recipe to try or choose a new fruit or vegetable to try.
I love PINTEREST for finding good healthy recipes that can suit my WHOLE family (low carb, no poultry or nuts, no seafood, low cal....phew!) I also follow a few blogs. One thing I do is create my own recipes by recreating another recipe that might have an ingredient or two that we don't eat. If a recipe sounds great but includes chicken, I often substitute lean pork loin. If it calls for lots of butter or oil, I find ways to do with less. If it calls for cheese I try to use lowfat cheese, nonfat greek yogurt, or just less "real" cheese.
I try to incorporate a new recipe into the plans at least once every 7-10 days... ideally once a week. And if the recipe is successful I usually share it here on the recipe thread. I have not planned my meals for the last 7 days or so because we were here and there, but school ends tomorrow for DS and I so it will be back to meal planning for the summer!
Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday Pamela! Sorry I am a few days late. Hope it was a wonderful day! xoxo :goodvibes
Thank you! It was a wonderful several days.... celebrated with DD on Saturday, with my family and my folks on Sunday, worked Monday but the men took me out for a quick dinner, and then I celebrated again on the actual day, Tuesday! Glad I don't turn 50 more often though..... too much cake and beer!!:rotfl2:
********************
Morning all! Here at school and today is Field Day... so I'll get my exercise today! Thank GOODNESS that the hotter days have passed for now and today will only be in the 70's, so we will be WARM but not miserably so. I have on my sunscreen and deodorant and have a full thermos of iced green tea, so I should be all set!
BTW, I found an ACTIVE job for the summer! I'll be working hard, moving furniture, mulch, etc here at the school! It pays the same as a day subbing and it is gong to burn calories!! WIN-WIN! I'll be buff and tanned by September! :) Plus DS can work with me (at a slightly lower pay, but still good for a teen). He isn't delighted with the idea, but I think it is great!
Off to put my lunch in the fridge and get started with my day! TTYL........P
I like the social aspect of going out with people and since I live alone, having company for one meal of the day matters and I am lucky that a number of my colleagues actually are very good friends. BUT it is difficult to plan for and there are so many temptations and then for whatever strange reason the usual lunch hour here at work is 11:30am!! I usually am in the office from 9am to 6pm, so eating lunch that early is totally crazy. And we are totally free as to when to take our lunch break, so there is no need for that early eating.
Today nobody of my usual friends was availabe and instead of just going with just someone to the work cafeteria, I decided to go for a later lunch at 1:15pm and went to a new place that has a "design your own salad" option. Had lettuce, ruccola, tomato, mango and chicken with their low fat house vinaigrette and a piece of homemade wheat bread. It was delicious, not high in points (so that I was able to have a small cappuccino as a treat afterwards) and now makes me happy and motivated!
I also feel that I am starting to get used to eating less again. Yesterday I did well until in the evening I started to snack on my muesli-mix (dry, out of the box...). That was not good, but at least not tooooo bad either.
Kudos to you for having an OP lunch and finding a new spot to enjoy one, Magdalene! :thumbsup2 One step at a time! ::yes::
Good morning all! Thank you SO MUCH for all of the wonderful birthday wishes! I really appreciate it and I feel so loved!
I had lots of fun Facebook wishes yesterday too.... both my DH and my DD posted pictures of me and such and of course, DS popped on to say happy birthday to his old Mom as well.
I managed to visit my parents, my MIL, and my daughter in one day. I brought my Mom, MIL, and DD each a pink rose to let them know that they are special in my life. And my DD wrote me the MOST AMAZING letter! I will ask her permission to share some of it here, but the gist of it was a "50 reasons I think my mom is great" list and what an amazing list it was! I didn't realize I was so wonderful!:rotfl: I've got my pictures from our weekend birthday adventures on the computer finally and I'll share those here tonight.
I'm working today thru Friday, but I'm pretty sure I'll have time to pop on here late today while my class is in Special or during movie time this afternoon. I'll read and reply and answer the QOTD then... for now, I've gotta dash and get ready for 3rd grade! It's gonna be a HOT ONE today, as this classroom is on the sunny end of the building and my classroom temperature is already 80 degrees!! Hope we can find a way to stay cool and comfortable!
TTYL..........P
Sounds like you had a great birthday, Pamela! :cool2: Hope that you don't roast outside during field day today. :beach:
Good morning, friends! :)
Happy birthday, Pamela! A day late, but I hope you're still enjoying your new number! :dance3:
QOTD Tuesday: Well, we looove Disney. Of course. Last summer, we went to San Francisco and then drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica before heading to Anaheim and Disneyland for a few days. It was amazing. But this summer we're going to Aulani! I might have a new favorite in a month or so...
QOTD Wednesday: Woo hoo for actually getting up at 615 and being out the door running at 6:30! It was already 75 degrees out, and I felt every bit of those 3.1 miles, but I'm so glad I did it!
I'm leaving this afternoon for a short work trip, and I'm trying to plan ahead to keep up the good momentum I have going here. Tonight I'll see a girlfriend who lives near my hotel. Tomorrow morning, I have a very short run on my Dumbo training schedule, so I've packed my running stuff for the fitness center. Also packing a banana, a Luna bar, and a Graze snack for breakfast and a morning snack so that I avoid the temptation of the hotel cafe/room service. I think I'll be able to get lunch on my own, so I shouldn't be subject to the meeting food, but I need to figure out my best options in the area. Then I head back, and I can do Subway for dinner before rehearsal. So hopefully I can find a good salad place for lunch and stay totally OP tomorrow! Definitely planning on a glass or two of wine tonight, though. ;)
Then it's back here for half a day, and we're off to Charlottesville for the weekend! We're meeting my dad and a long-time family friend there, and we're taking the kids to Monticello. The history geek in me is so excited - I haven't been since I was about DD9's age, and they're both really into Thomas Jefferson and this era of American History. We're back early Sunday to say farewell to our wonderful UU minister. Too many goodbyes these days for my taste, but I wouldn't want to miss this. And there is that small matter of the solo I'm singing during the service!
Wowza, busy, busy week-end ahead for you, Liz! I'm sure you will sing like an :angel: Can't wait to hear all about your visit to Aulani! It will be a blast! :beach:
My woo hoo is that I am trying very hard to avoid added sugars in foods (well, and sugar in general) and it is making me feel so much better!
It's so hot and humid here that I am gulping down the water!
1. Plan and track your food.
2. Try new exercises. You'll never know what you may end up loving!
3. Drink water, water, water.
4. Realize that nothing happens overnight and losing weight is a process, so don't give up!
Wow...this is tough because we try new places each year and love them all. If I could only go one place (other than WDW) I would say Topsail Island, NC. I love it there. It's so laid back and not real touristy. Plus, it's not too bad of a drive from PA.
I know this is a day late, and I didn't know about this mini challenge until today, but I did walk with my sister yesterday. Then DS8 wanted to play wiffle ball at 1:30 in the afternoon in the heat and humidity! We played and had a good time laughing...and sweating!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am catching up but need to run to get DS11 from camp. So I'm going to post this so I don't lose it and I'll be back on later to chat :)

Jill

Hope things have cooled down a bit in your neck of the wood, Jill, especially before your race. Good luck to you and your DSis this week-end! I know you will rock it! :rockband:

How did I miss Lisa's post?! :goodvibes Woo hoo for getting to River Walk today.

We just found out our neighborhood is having a garage sale this weekend so I am in an organizing frenzy. I will be happy to get rid of some more of this stuff! There are a few things that don't fit into this house and I would be so happy to see them go.

:woohoo: for a garage sale week-end! Hope that you get rid of everything that needs to go! :thumbsup2 It might be better to have had less notice, less time to change your mind about things in the away pile. ;)

QOTD Thursday June 19th: What is your favorite source of healthy recipes? Do you have a particular cookbook, website, magazine, or blog that you enjoy?

Mini Challenge: Research a new recipe to try or choose a new fruit or vegetable to try.

I get most of my recipe ideas from magazines -- either the magazines themselves or in my FB feed.

Here is one that showed up in my FB feed that we might try this week-end for chicken and grilled pineapple salsa. I added it to the recipe thread -- it's for Chicken with Grilled Pineapple Salsa from Family Circle.

I can always get DH to cook on the grill. :cool2:

Good luck to everyone for their weigh ins tomorrow!

I hate when I'm away from the thread for a few days. I miss so much and I only have time to skim thru to catch up.

I hope everyone is having a happy Thursday. Things are good here. DH and I are trying to figure out what we might like to do to "get away" for a bit. Maybe a all-out vacation and maybe just a day off work to hang out. Building the house really took a toll on DH because he was having to do all of the supervision that our general contractor should have been doing. Every little detail had to be monitored because, as we came to find out, we had gotten into business with a very inattentive contractor. A couple of the sub-contractors were outstanding but some were, apparently, just cheap and didn't give a hoot. Anyway, the point is, DH needs to disconnect from the house and all the not-quite-finished items that seem to keep cropping up. So... whether it's a weekend in San Antonio or heading up to the Winstar in Oklahoma... we could definitely use some time out of town.

Better get back to work. Hope y'all have a great day. :goodvibes

Okay.... I made it through KICKBALL on Field Day.... 5 games of kickball with 3rd graders. I was the pitcher for all of the games and I played hard! Definitely got some exercise in today! And it is warm, but no oppressively hot. Glad I had on sunscreen though, because there was NO shade and the sun is bright today.

After school we head north to pick up DD's car (aka the kids' car) from the repair shop (it was having some ignition issues... hopefully nothing major) and then home. Burgers on the grill for the men (unless they are sick to death of burgers) and a veggie burger for me.

I've decided that I WILL be weighing in tomorrow. I was going to cut myself some slack for the week, since it has been my birthday treats week but I think it is important that I face the music, get a real handle on exactly how much damage I did, and then move forward. Besides, if I make some real progress in the right direction next week, I might not even realize it if I don't know where I am THIS week. I know that the number will NOT be pretty.... in fact, I already had a small gain from my "end-of-juice-fast" weigh in on Friday to my "just another peek" on the scale on Saturday.

Off to enjoy my iced tea and maybe pop into a classroom where they are watching a movie (my class is in art).... my choices are Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Pixar Shorts.... obviously lots of GREAT choices! ;) ................P

It does sound like it is important for your DH to get AWAY from the house. If he is like me, he absolutely will NOT be able to relax while at home. There is no such thing as an "at home" vacation for me.... I just can't ignore things that need to be done! I think that is why I LOVE my Disney vacations.... they are my only TRUE vacations! Even on our family lake vacations, I'm still in charge of some shopping, cooking and plenty of dishes and cleaning! Maybe you could find a Groupon or something on Priceline and get a short-but-sweet trip away on the cheap?? .................P

I usually use Pinterest and SkinnyTaste. I love trying new recipes so I'll have no problem with the mini challenge :)

Morning all! Here at school and today is Field Day... so I'll get my exercise today! Thank GOODNESS that the hotter days have passed for now and today will only be in the 70's, so we will be WARM but not miserably so. I have on my sunscreen and deodorant and have a full thermos of iced green tea, so I should be all set!

BTW, I found an ACTIVE job for the summer! I'll be working hard, moving furniture, mulch, etc here at the school! It pays the same as a day subbing and it is gong to burn calories!! WIN-WIN! I'll be buff and tanned by September! :) Plus DS can work with me (at a slightly lower pay, but still good for a teen). He isn't delighted with the idea, but I think it is great!

Off to put my lunch in the fridge and get started with my day! TTYL........P

Glad it was cooler for field day and glad you had fun!

Congrats on the job! I could totally see DS not being happy if I told him I signed him up for that :rotfl2:

A getaway sounds like just what you and DH need. It'll be a great mental break from the house!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Checking in quickly :)
Not much going on in my neck of the woods, so not too much to say. Don't tell DH that, though. He claims I never stop talking ;)
Have a great night and maybe next time I'm back I'll have more to share!
Jill
Friday is weigh in day, so be sure to PM your weight (in the subject line) to Flossbolna. I can't wait to hear about everyone's progress.
QOTD Friday June 20th:
What is your vacation diet strategy? Do you stay on plan, plan for a few indulgences and then get right back on plan as soon as the vacation is over, or do you go completely off plan?
Mini Challenge: It's Friday! Time to indulge in a favorite stress relieving non food related activity. You've earned it!
On a vacation I USUALLY plan for a few indulgences and but stay on track otherwise. For example, during our family vacations, I don't do all the cooking and food planning, so if it is someone else's night to cook, I try to be sure to stay OP for my breakfast and lunch so that I can indulge at dinner. And unless the dessert is something I LOVE, I skip it. Just because it is vacation, doesn't mean I MUST eat dessert. Homemade cookies (my mom's lumberjacks) or a lemon meringue pie.... ALL DAY LONG!:love: But boxed brownie mix or store bought ice cream.... nothing special and I will skip it.
I also try to keep up some sort of exercise schedule while on vacation (other than a Disney vacation). I try to at least get in a run/walk 3-4 days during the week!
Tonight's non-food related activity? Not sure yet... I'll let you know!
***************************
MOrning all and HAPPY FRIDAY! My last official day of school for the year!! WOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it is DS's last day of finals as well, so I'm sure he will be a happy camper today!
Well, I braved it and got on the scale this morning to face the damage I did during all of the birthday shenanigans and I will say that I was pleasantly surprised! Sure, I gained.... but not nearly the amount I envisioned! Less than 2 pounds from last Saturday's weight! I'll take it considering my list of food offenses is extensive! Not one, but TWO reuben sandwiches with a side of sweet potato fries (Saturday and Tuesday), not one but TWO birthday cakes (cheesecake from DD on Saturday and white cake with lemon curd filling from my Mom on Sunday), a mocktail and two light beers on Saturday, a light beer on Sunday, and a softserve cone after my reuben on Tuesday. YIKES! It looks even worse now that I listed it all!!:eek:
Moving forward from all of that sugar is proving to be tough....my body is craving it! Thankfully it is fruit season, so that helps!
Off to pack my last school lunch of the year! DS doesn't need a lunch since he will be home by lunch time!...................P
