Will Disney follow Royal and not require vaccines?

CDC will eventually drop all restrictions and will cruise like normal, guidance will be to just assume everyone is vaccinated and put up a sign that says, “CDC strongly suggests unvaccinated guests wear a face covering”

Thats my hunch.
That is the sign that is at businesses around me now. Most used to require masks, now they just place this sign in the window.

DeSantis stood firm and the cruise lines are doing what he wanted. We are fully vaccinated and will happily show our vaccine cards to get on a disney cruise. We are going to book one in august if they are sailing by then. In addition to our 8 night in October.

I do think Disney will follow suit. I would be totally fine showing my vaccine card to skip testing. Also, this way my kids can just be tested as well as the couple adults that don’t want or can’t get the vaccine. If they don’t follow them at least we have Royal Caribbean as a backup option. Are these summer cruises up on their website yet?

I guess what I don’t get is how is showing your card to skip testing any different than providing proof of vaccine.

I may get the vaccine at some point but my 16 year old does not want it. He’s had Covid and I feel like he should make his own decision. He may change his mind down the road if it’s required for international travel, but I’m not making the decision for him.

If this vaccine does have long term adverse effects there going to be a lot of kids mad at their parents.

Meh. Same could be said of getting adverse effects from Covid, for those whose parents didn't have them get the vaccine. It would be wrong for a child to be angry at the parent for just following public health advice, anyway. Although, I suppose that these days one should never underestimate people's ability to get offended and angry at things that were not meant as harm.

Very true.
This is what I’m hoping. I assume unless the CDC extends the order the cruise lines can follow whatever policies they feel are needed to keep passengers safe. I have the December 5th 7 night cruise booked on the Fantasy and hope masks and reservations for the pools are not required. We also want to explore the ports on our own.

I’m so happy to see things finally moving along. I really miss DCL!!
I read somewhere that if the state of emergency is cancelled then the cso is automatically cancelled. I’m not sure if it’s true I read a lot of stuff some of it’s a accurate and some of its not.

I don't really think that is the way the law is worded, nor the intent. Everyone can cruise, vaccine or no vaccine. No one is being excluded or discriminated against. No one is being denied service. But the cruise lines absolutely have the right to deny you boarding if you are infected with Covid.

The cruise lines (and CDC) require that you test negative prior to boarding. If you are vaccinated, you can be exempt from the test (This is more a perk of having the vaccine rather than a discrimination against those who don't) It is entirely your choice (100% voluntary) to show the card and skip the test. Anyone who is not vaccinated, or if you are vaccinated but for personal reasons choose not to provide that data about yourself, you can still cruise if you are Covid negative. As long as they "ask" you for proof of vaccination, but do not "require" proof of vaccination, you can cruise.

I think after Nov 1 it all goes away.
I am inclined to agree with DCLMP on this one (Although there might be some SLIGHT wiggle room on that exact date.

I think this whole thing can be separate into short term (now thru Nov) and long term (after Nov)

In the short term, some cruise lines will try and require vaccines (either outside of FL, or willing to be fined in FL and try to deal with that fine later). Experiences on cruise ships will either be back to "normal" for those vaccine required ones, and not so normal (masks, social distancing, etc) on the cruises where vaccines are not required. Some cruise lines may even try to have different experiences onboard for those who are willing to show proof of vaccine (show your card, get a colored wristband, get to walk around with no mask, or dine in a special restaurant, etc). For what it's worth, I don't really see DCL doing this special experience thing. Too hard to police, but until they tell us, who knows.

Once we hit Nov 1, things change, partially because the CSO is set to expire but also because at that point the vaccine may be open to more ages, especially young kids. At that point, if anyone who wants a vaccine can get one, then it is much more about personal choice. Too afraid to cruise without a vaccine? Get one. Once you are protected, doesn't really matter who else on the ship is or is not vaccinated. That is their choice.

My only reason for saying there may be wiggle room is that Nov 1 date might push out slightly if the vaccine isnt' available yet to young kids. I can see them extending the CSO, but maybe by a month or 2 at the most. My hope is that by Nov 1, everyone can get a vaccine if they want it, the CSO expires, and life goes back to normal.

We’re on that cruise too! I’ll be shocked if masks are required by then. I think physical distancing in the shows, dining, may still be a thing….but if masks have been dropped pretty much everywhere else by then (and we’re trending that way)….it will be impossible to get people to wear them on their vacation!!

Yes…my understanding is that it’s a whichever comes first thing….Nov 1st or no longer state of emergency. Now, if nov 1st comes and there’s still a SOE, they could extend….but my gut says that won’t happen.

I just really, really hope they put some protocols in place if there happens to be a covid outbreak on a cruise, or even if just a few people test positive, and they let people know said protocol beforehand. The last thing I want is for my cruise to have to end prematurely because unvaccinated guests tested positive returning from a port.

Or if a vaccinated guest tests positive...because that is also still possible...

They are less likely to be testing vaccinated people.
I get that, however the poster I quoted insinuated that their cruise could be cut short by unvaxxed cruisers, when in fact the virus can also be spread by vaxxed cruisers. I was simply making a point.

However, I do think if you are going to test unvaxxed, then faxed should be tested as well since they as well can spread the virus, right?

Vaccinated people are much less likely to catch or spread Covid, so no, I don't think that is necessary.
But they still can though, correct?
So if were going to be thorough then we should be…. no reason to single out others if everyone can still contract and spread it, jab or no jab…

Most US states have quickly and quietly become 100% back to normal. My area had a few stores that still required masks last week now the only signs I see are saying that masks are not required and people should not complain if they see others without them. A full 180. I think cruising will quickly go back to normal also. Some countries may require testing or quarantining after travel though.

Unless anybody is cruising in the next few months I wouldn’t worry about any of this. I’m optimistic in 6 months we’re not even talking about Covid anymore. I’m saving my money for multiple cruises in 2022.😁
