Word of caution for anyone flying right now.

We were off the Wonder at 730am, waited 10 minutes for a Lyft and were at the airport before 8am for 1000 am flight. We have TSA precheck and only carry ons. In normal circumstances we would have been sitting in the airport lounge by 815 waiting for our flight. TSA pre-check was closed and the TSA line was snaked around the airport and out the parking garage. It was a 2 hour line. We arrived at the gate 3 minutes after departure time. Luckily SW was holding the flight since so many people were late. We ended up pushing back about 1020. We go really lucky. I was not expecting this at a small airport. We had no problems at our large home airport flying to San Diego. Just be prepared for anything.

It’s so YMMV right now and online estimated times are in some cases crap. Look for info direct from the airport on social media plus check the news for your airport as local media/social media is basically the most up to date you can get.

Or just get to the airport 4 hours early and if security is a breeze have a meal and a few beers.

In most cases yes but SAN options are so bad… but maybe not, by beer 3 who cares anyway?!

I mentioned it on the transportation thread, but the women sitting next to us missed her earlier flight. She arrived 2 hours early and she had clear. The clear line was as long as the standard line. I have considered getting it, but not so sure anymore.

I would NEVER pay cash for Clear, I just have it because it’s free with my annual fee credit card. When things are bad Clear is as backed up as Pre-Check or worse because it’s “free” on so many credit cards.

Clear has gotten so popular I haven’t even used it in probably the last 2 years because pre-check is moving just as fast or faster. And Clear people have to pull out their ID more frequently to pass the TSA officers after Clear got in trouble with the government so even the hassle free part isn’t guaranteed anymore.

I have a few credit cards I could get it through for free, but just haven't taken the time. TSA pre-check has always worked well for me. I guess the new thing is touch-less TSA pre-check. TSA pre-check is also free with a lot of credit cards, but the lines still seem to be shorter then the regular lines.
