Will Disney follow Royal and not require vaccines?

I've disagreed with you on almost everything else, but this I am in full agreement with.:thumbsup2
Texas passed the same law as Florida and it was signed today. Carnival says they are evaluating it. Are they going to have to walk it back again?

carnival will let people know about Florida cruises on Friday. I’m sure after the market closes. They are giving people the option to cancel by Monday. Phone lines will be jammed this weekend.

All this drama for people with cruises booked this Summer. I feel bad for them. I’m glad it’s not me. It would never be me because I don’t have the patience for it.

It’s interesting to follow though and it’s offering a nice distraction from some not so good things going on in my life.

The Texas law has no effect on Carnival or cruising. Unlike the FL law that has a monetary fine, the TX law states:

A business that fails to comply with this subsection is not eligible to receive a grant or enter into a contract payable with state funds.

So I believe Carnival and other Cruise Lines are in the clear on this.

This all makes me glad my cruise isn't until next year

The new law goes further than the executive order. It bans businesses from operating if they try to mandate vaccines. It was a bi-partisan bill with overwhelming support. Carnival says there is a loophole they may be able to get around. Even if Carnival can get around the new law why in the world would you try to restart cruises with vaccine mandates in states that don't want vaccine mandates? There are so many states they could have restarted from that would have welcomed mandates.

It's such a bad PR move in my opinion. Carnival could also have waited until the hearing on Thursday. They really need to stop making press releases. Disney is smart sitting on the sidelines watching how this plays out.
