Wii- Fit

I was also kinda miffed by the "do you trip comment!" I thought it was funny, playing at 1130 pm, it asked me if I had brushed my teeth for bed yet!!

but i do love it, despite fleshing out my mii character

The game is funny! All four in my family registered ourselves. It asked my son if he's considered planning a surprise party for his sister's birthday since it's coming up on Tuesday! He thought that was hilarious (she'll be 20, he's 16 so there's no party planning going on there!)

I just played mine today and it is fantastic. I have a problem exercising, but this was FUN- and HARD. I can really see myself sticking to this. I was really glad to have it for DS (9), who is getting a little overweight but very sensitive. It helped to see it on the game rather than me tell him and he is happy that the game will help him work on it in a fun way. He loves that it is password protected. I thinking setting a goal and tracking is great and will keep us all on track. BUT- I also discovered a problem with my Wii console -error message- an now I have to send it in to be repaired. Thankfully its still under warranty, but it's take 2-3 weeks. I still think its the BEST console, and we have all three (could be why a few of us NEED the WiiFit?)

Question: from everything I've read it seems like the game is very strength and balance-training based, very little of anything aerobic.

Is this true?

I know it's very hard to lose real weight without aerobic stuff.

Oh no! I say that it is very strong in aerobics! It's just that there is so much to choose from! I get worn out doing hula, super hula and running. I haven't even done the step aerobics yet but am really looking forward to trying it this weekend!

For me, personally, I am very lucky that I don't actually need to lose weight but I desperately need to tone so I prefer the strength exercises and balance as my balance really seems to be off and I never even knew it!

If you want aerobics - they are definately there!!!

I forgot the whole step aerobics thing.

Hmmm...maybe I will get one afterall.

There's even a basic step aerobics you can unlock the more minutes you've logged in that will allow you watch regular tv. The beat of the stepping can be heard through your wii remote so you can watch and listen to any show.

So I started yesterday and I did not use the attachment since I have really low carpeting, and the manual said they were for thick carpeting. I thought the scale was a bit off last night, but I went with it and continued. I decided to do another body test today and it said I had lost over 6 pounds! I knew there was no way not even with water loss could it be that much that fast, so I put on the attachments. After doing the body test again, it was right where I had expected it to be yesterday. Unfortunately, it is showing a weight gain of about 6 pounds between day 1 and 2, but at least it seems right now. We will see tomorrow.

So, I guess what I am saying is that if you have carpet, even the short stuff, use the attachments....

Mine did that today too. I thought, wow 6 pounds, really? So do you push the extenders on all the way?

Is there somewhere to look-up a fitness schedule. Like a daily 30-45 minute routine that incorporates all areas. If it's in the manual, I didn't look as I never read directions.

Thanks for the tip on the extenders. Our carpet is short and so I wasn't using them. It weighed the kids accurately but for me it had me about 15 lbs lighter than what I really am and for DH he was almost 40 lbs lighter on the Wii than he really is! Weird because the kids were accurate, all 3 of them. Anyway, I'll try adding the extenders and seeing what the deal is.

We love it already, all of us. The yoga is really great and I tried my first strength training tonight. The balance games are fun and I like the aerobic ones too! Great purchase!

There is no fitness schedule. You just have to make up one for yourself. Say OK Im gonna do this and this on Mondays, this and this on Tuesdays, etc.

anyone else get "warned" by the board not to do your fitness tests so close together? I did one at 930 pm, then the next day at 1230 am...it said i had lost 1.8 lbs (doubt it) then said not to do them so close together next time...:yay:

I preordered mine in February!!! I got it the very first day it was released, and we got it at Hollywood Video. We're good friends with the managers, and they made sure we were at the top of the list. It also could be because we were one of the first customers to preorder.

My wife is kicking butt on it. I'm still sore from some work related digging, so I haven't did much on it yet.

My 2 kids and I have been playing with this for 3 days now. I went onto it today and did a body test and it said I gained 126 pounds and my Mii got really fat and my BMI was around 55. I couldn't understand what happened and thought it malfunctioned until my son came out and pointed to me that I was logged in as my 11 yr old daughter! :rotfl: She had to re-do her body test and was congratulated for losing 126 pounds! We had a great laugh over it. My anti-exericse teenage son is doing this too but only to beat my daughter and my scores. The Miis are fun to watch and you can see other family members exercising with you on some games. I bought this on a whim at costco for $79.99, I didn't know it was out yet.

Is anyone else sore yet? My whole right side HURTS like crazy. Been hurting all day. Im DEF. not used to working out and think I either might of pulled something in my side or the yoga is REALLY working those muscles! It was from yesterday. Today I did everything all over again, trying to stretch my right side muscles a lil more thinking maybe if I stretched it some it would help it stop hurting. Nope, still hurts. I was doing one strength thing today where I had to put my arms on the wii board and my hands over on the side and lifted my body, OUCH! I felt like crying it hurt so much. When I did the half moon pose in yoga and leaned to the left stretching my right side, I was like OMG this hurts so much! I could litereally feel the muscles in my right side just pulling and stretching.

Does anyone regularly workout and find this challenging?

I exercise 5 times a week and wonder if it would be great for the days when I just don't want to drag myself out of bed before 5am.

I do enjoy Wii sports boxing on occasion for a nice cardio boost.

Thanks.

How much space do you really need in order to play most of the Wii Fit games? We have our TV in a somewhat narrow room - TV on one side, couch on the other, with only about 5 feet of space between them where we could do any Wii-ing. Plenty of space for regular Wii games, but I'm concerned about being down on the ground for the yoga and pushups, etc. Can you do them facing sideways or must it face the TV directly?

i wish that i could join in all your guys fun BUT my wii fit hasnt arrived i preordered from amazon and got the email it had shipped with estimated delivery date of 5/23 everytime that i try tracking the number on ups dot com they say that they have been notified to expect my package but no other information :confused3
