Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD: I cannot wait to see the new nighttime parade… only 25 days until we’re back in WDW We also have MNSSHP tickets for end of August so it will be my first time seeing Boo to You, as it was rained off last time we were there. So exciting! I’ll pick my favourite once I’ve seen both!

SAFD: Now that our kids are older, I'm not much of a parade person. If it's going by we might stop to watch, but is not something we plan for. I do like the Boo to You parade and, while it's been a minute since I have seen it, I recall liking the Christmas party parade too, or at least the gingerbread men and the reindeer. I am sure we will check the new nighttime parade out at some point. I do appreciate that they are sunning that one the opposite way (starting on Main St. and ending by Tianna's) so that it doesn't make it even more of a nightmare trying to get out at the end of the night.

SAFD: When the kids were young we used to do parades - they loved the Stars & Motor Cars parade at DHS and SpectroMagic. Since they've been older we've skipped parades to get more attractions in.

If I had to bring back one, it would be SpectroMagic even though I personally prefer the MSEP. SpectroMagic brings back a lot of memories of my kids dancing to the music when they were not even 10 years old.

SAFD: I really enjoyed Boo to You! but I also enjoyed the pop-up cavalcades they did during covid (likely influenced by how excited DD got seeing the princesses, and the fact that it wasn't wall-to-wall people)

Yes! Cavalcades were one of the best ideas Disney ever had

SAFD: well I love a parade. We would use FP for the parade. My favorites are both retired. Tapestry of Nations and Jammin in the Jungle at AK. Both parks are terrible for a parade but loved them. Yep will stop for any parade.

Oh wait. If we’re talking about parades past and present, I have to pick the Stars of the Saga motorcade during Star Wars Weekends (RIP).

SAFD: I wasn’t going to answer, cause parades are generally a meh thing for me. But if we include past parades, then definitely Tapestry of Nations. I have a fond memory of impressing some non-Disney friends with this parade. Second to that would be the Toy Story Parade at MGM Studios (cause it still was) Thanksgiving 1995–the release of the 1st movie. Listening to Randy Newman’s Strange Things play while the floats came by and the Green Army men marched was a special kind of Disney Magic.

Growing up in a coastal California town that never saw actual winter/snow, going to Disneyland at Christmas time and getting to see the Christmas parade followed by “snow” and White Christmas playing while standing in the middle of Main Street; I absolutely loved it!

I will always have a very special place for The Main Street Electrical Parade as well, when I hear that music I am 10 again! But now that then girls are older we don’t usually stop for the parades. We would for the Christmas parade but it is part of the Party, which we do not buy a ticket for.

Now I will sound old - that parade used to just be part of your ticket and was open to everyone! Short rant over. Looking forward to watching the new parade, I think I can talk the family into watching.

SAFD: We are also not very big parade people. If we catch a parade going by (trapped by said parade) we will watch it. But we usually see a parade as a time where lines for rides may be shorter. We are going to our first MNSSHP on September 26th. I think we will definitely take some time to watch the Boo to You parade. For older parades, I grew up going to Disneyland and always loved the Main Street Electrical Parade. That will always have nostalgia with me. So anytime they bring back a version of it, I will make an effort to watch it.

They still do the Christmas parade during the day once the parties are over!

My favorite parade is the Electrical Water Pageant. I remember it from my first visit in 1978(?) staying at Fort Wilderness. I am glad they still do it. Was fun to see it Marathon Weekend

they *have* restocked at least the hoodies/jackets/spirit jerseys one time already. not sure what they'll do as far as pins, etc.

Anywho, I finally caved and grabbed a 10K and half marathon bib from TeamFORCE because 23 people from my running group will be there and the FOMO just got to be too much. So, I'll see y'all in January!

Before starting a new thread, figure I'll ask this group . Has anyone stayed at OKW for a race weekend? I've done many RD races but always stayed at either monorial resorts or options that are super close to the Race transportation. Wondering how good/bad it is if we get a room all the way in the back of the resort when needing to catch the bus in the morning for the race.

Yes, LOTS of folks here have. They do run an internal bus, but if you miss it, it may be faster to walk to the main stop at HH than wait for the loop. If you have a car but don't want to drive all the way to the race, you could drive to HH and park or have someone in your party drop you there.

There are also lots of other DISers planning to stay there, and we're including that info in our Amazing Spreadsheet(tm) that will go out a bit before the race. I suspect there will be some who plan to drive with room in their vehicles, too.
