Reunion resort or other options in two months

My nephew has come up with the idea of going down to Disney over the Jewish holiday long weekend in September, since the NYC schools are closed. Great idea, but late planning.

The place they’ve identified is Reunion Resort. I’m not familiar with it, but I’ve seen it mentioned favorably in some other posts here. Is there anything they.need to know about it? Or other suggestions in a similar price range?

The family is father, mother, 6yo daughter, almost 9yo daughter, 20 yo (step)son and his girlfriend, so at least two rooms. Five nights, 3 days at WDW, one at Universal, and yes, they know that’s not enough and that they should have given me a year to plan ahead for them. I haven’t stayed off property since the 80s or early 90s, so I’m not familiar with the options. I think it’s too late for them to get the All Stars, and I don’t think they’re interested in doing their own cooking except perhaps for breakfast.

Thanks for any advice.

We haven’t stayed at the reunion in about five years. However, we love it! If we didn’t stay at Disney it would be the reunion. My suggestion is that even if you want a condo choose vacation rentals on their website. If you choose a hotel condo you roll the dice with what you get. Not all condos are amazing. When you choose vacation rental and choose the specific condo or home you want then you are actually getting the one you chose. We have stayed at condos and done the homes. If staying in condo choose north or south villas. Very close to water park. If you choose a reunion home through Vrbo then def make sure that it states membership privileges. Otherwise you don’t get golf access or water park access.

Thanks for your info.

Is there a compelling reason to rent a car for this purpose? Or will the resort’s shuttle be good enough, given the age of the kids?

I would not stay offsite without a car, especially that far.

Shuttles are VERY VERY limited, you need to make reservations, so very restrictive. You'll need to do transfers to MK or AK. Also I do not believe they go to Universal and it is 20 miles away.
