Why are the value rooms not available for a few weeks?

I have just booked four days in a value studio and three in a one bedroom for next winter. Are the value studios being refurbished? The answer may have been posted earlier so sorry if this is repetition. Does anyone know what they will be doing or replacing?

Due to Resort construction, the Value Studios at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House are not available for stays from December 2019 through late January 2020.

The rooms were already remodeled. This construction must be resort related.

People that asked DVC about this, a couple months back, were told it was specific construction at the resort will need for them to be closed. The rooms themselves are not being remolded, if I recall correctly.

Do you mean in Dec & January? That's the timeframes that DVC finally announced refurb after everyone was trying to book them for weeks.

Correct but I was just clarifying it wasn’t room renovations that DVC is claiming. They are claiming it is general resort renovations causing the area they are in to be closed off.

Oh I was asking the OP when they were booking because we are well past the 11 month window for the time DVC is claiming it will take almost 8 weeks to refurb around the Value room area. If they just booked I'm wondering if they're referring to a different time.

(I still can't believe the Dec-Jan when the rest of these hotel is supposed to be done in what? 4 months or so? )

Sorry I missed that. All that you say I get too, doesn't make sense that it will be so long (after the renovations are done).

Last August the RAT suddenly had lots of AKV Jambo villas available for booking for fall/Dec. when previously there had been none. I kept expecting to hear about overbooking due to a computer glitch, but it never happened. Somehow those villas were not available to book at 11 or 7 months but suddenly became available at 1-4 months.

Now, for the second year in a row, we have a set of AKV Jambo villas with inventory questions - I’d really like to see what’s going on with the inventory, it all seems so odd.

I know DVC claims it is due to a construction project and I was one of the home resort owners shut out because of it. What I don't understand about their explanation is why it hasn't affected 1 bedroom value rooms. Seems to me they are in the same halls, are they not?

Don't mean to wear the tin foil hat but I was suspicious before people starting getting the ""construction" explanations and I still am now.

Next door and connecting. 10 of the Value Studios connect with their neighboring Value 1-Bedroom to make a Value 2-Bedroom Lockoff.

There are also 8 Dedicated Value Studios (as well as Dedicated Standard & Savanna View Studios). JH doesn't have any Dedicated 1 or 2 Bedroom Villas.

Exactly - so why does the DVC announcement states it is only affecting value studios? I'm not aiming that at you; it's a rhetorical question . . . it's just the explanation as to why no value studios available seems so suspect.

The 1 bedrooms were also not available for booking. Why the notice only says studios is sloppy and incorrect. But then it was also done last minute after the fact too. Everything about it was handled badly.

Got it. When I was contacted by DVC about the issue a few months, she said she had checked and saw that several 2 bedroom values were successfully booked for that time period. This was before they came up with the construction notice. So how was that possible? Was she, "me - shocked", misrepresenting the inventory to me. :cutie:

I expect Disney who controls the construction at Jambo House changed the dates the construction was being done, not even thinking about DVC members booking at the 11 month mark. I also wonder if the problems with AKV rooms suddenly become available in August 2019 is because they had been held back for scheduled construction and then released when Disney changed the dates.

We pass that hat around a lot. Might be time to make a new one. :D

It's good to be skeptical of the odd things we see going on. Member services is not aware of issues until we say something, and they're all too quick to dismiss oddities in the system.

That makes the most sense to me!

The original block-out period, during which no value rooms were available to reserve, was Dec 3, 2019 to Jan 27, 2020. The OP seems to be talking about a different time and in seeking a 7 night reservation period was only able to get studios for four of those nights and a 1BR for 3. That also may mean the OP was trying to reserve less than 11 months out because one could not have done both reservations at exactly 11 months out from desired arrival date, e.g., OP's mention of "winter" could mean Feb or most of March, but not April. So possibly the lack of studio availability for three of the nights was because they were already booked full since the studios often fill for nights at or even before exactly 11 months out. If, in fact, the reservation was made for time before the block-out period ended, then that would mean the the block-out period has been modified or eliminated.
