Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

YAY -- You're back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Well yes if Jack-Jack the urinator doesn't straighten up I just might ship him out to you!! :rotfl:

I'm glad the wedding went well and you got to go to the beach and do some shopping on your trip! :thumbsup2

Great Epcot reviews. :goodvibes It's so strange though that we have such differing opinions on a lot of places there -- Sunshine Seasons, Electric Umbrella, Boulangerie, Kaki Gori, etc. :rotfl: Who knew. :confused3:laughing:

When I just read "Jack-Jack the urinator" I had to laugh it brought back a memory of a neighbor we had who named their puppy "puddles" you can guess why :rotfl:

Welcome back Jo!

Shelly, I was thinking that same thing, that you and Jo are very opposite when it comes to food!

Jack Jack the urinator!!! :rotfl: Oh my! I needed a good laugh this morning! I'm still snickering over that one! I have to say though that I solved the mystery of house breaking a puppy, quite by accident. When we got our chihuahua two years ago, I was so dreading the training. Our old dog that we have was so hard to train that I thought I would strangle her before it was over. I bet it took two years with her before she never had another accident! I nearly lost my mind! :faint: But she redeemed herself big time with the new puppy. We would send the puppy out with our old dog and every time to old dog peed, the puppy would have to go pee right on top of it! It was hilarious! But I swear to you that our old dog house broke our puppy in a matter of about two days! :rotfl: I am not joking! She has never had an accident since then! :worship: The puppy would just follow behind the old dog and do whatever she did. I was amazed! So my suggestion would be to borrow a friend's dog for the weekend and let the big dog whip Jack into shape!

Good Morning everyone!

I am here and exhausted. Why is it that on the second day back from vacation it all hits you and you feel like a truck ran you slap over???:lmao:

Ahhhhhh, those puppy days of training are so hard to handle. Jack-Jack the Urinator ..... ;) I'm sure Beau is happy to share his name with the lad!:lmao: Sheila CAN'T have first dibs on the pup................... I helped give him his first nickname!!:rolleyes1 He loves his Auntie Jo,,,,, I know he does!! ::yes::

popcorn::

Well yes, we do have differing opinions on food and restaurants don't we?? I still have to go back to catch up with everyone and see what all has been talked about.

This being away business has been rough on my DIS time.

I have a nail appt this morning and then I will be back to yap.

I just don't know how anyone (or any dog!) could have to pee so much. :faint: It is so frustrating!

That is hilarious about your dogs!! :rotfl: I bet that does work. It's their instinct to want to pee where other dogs do!

Well I'll let you and Sheila duke it out for the little urinator!!

Yes he loves his Auntie Jo very much! :lovestruc

I have to run to the school real quick this morning and then I will be back to chat too. See you then! :hyper2:

rinky tinky...I have heard that somewhere!! I know you were happy about it,...heard Chi's are hard to house train...we have had 2 other small dogs and they absolutely refused to go outside....we would walk around out there for an eternity and they would come right into the carpet and pee & poo!!! It was awful...Mike said no more puppies...Annie was full grown so that was awesome for us!
Shelly..hopefully the little guy is just excited and will settle down...do you have him in a crate? I have read and talked to many people who say the crate is the way to go..not the pads...course, every dog is diff...but if we ever get another puppy it's gonna be crate training.

Well Jack doesn't refuse to pee outside or anything like that. He pees anywhere he feels like it.

Yes, we are crate training. But maybe we aren't doing it right. :confused3 IDK. I've read so many articles about house training and each one contradicts the last. So it's all very confusing!

So we just got back from the school. And we took Jack. And now DS12 says "Jack is a chick magnet"!! I think every girl in the place was all over him (he was holding Jack :rotfl:)!

Oh my.... :lmao:

I'm so NOT ready for those days! DS is 8....and the girls flock to him already. Not ready for pre-teen! :)

My DH said the same thing about Bella when we would take her in the car and I would run into the store leaving Bella with him. Too Funny

Oh no. Maybe this is why my boys want a dog!
Jack is adorable, Shelly. Hope he gets the knack of outside-only pottygoing soon! I totally sympathize...we recently went though potty training with DD! You know what worked for her--we told her we weren't going back to Disneyland (Paris) until she was out of diapers. Would that work for Jack?

Well, I guess they already knew he was cute, and smart, and funny. And now they've seen that he has a soft and vulnerable side. So he's the ideal man! ;)

Good morning! Trying to get caught up and back in the groove.

So I need to post my DHS dining experiences---- and whadda' ya know--- Shelly and I are on the opposite ends of the spectrum again.:goodvibes What's that saying? Opposites attract??? It certainly is true with us.

Dining in DHS:

In my opinion, there aren’t enough choices in DHS. We have been to a few TS restaurants but none of them stand out in our minds as exceptional. If we are in DHS and we want a TS meal, we leave the park.

That said, our experiences:

The Writer’s Stop:

What we ordered:

Coffee - regular or decaf $1.89
Flavored Syrup $.50
Cappuccino / Cafe Latte $3.19
Espresso $2.69
Double Espresso $3.69
Mochaccino / Mocha Latte $3.69
Hot Chocolate $1.89
Iced Cappuccino / Iced Latte $3.19
Iced Mochaccino / Iced Mocha Latte $3.69
Frozen Drink $3.69
Bottled Water $2.50
Soda $2.89
Powerade $2.89
Milk $1.89
Chocolate Milk $2.19
Assorted Cookies and Pastries:
Cupcake $2.95
Seasonal Muffin $2.95
Banana Nut Muffin $2.95
Chocolate Chip Muffin $3.25
Blueberry Muffin $2.95
Apple Cinnamon Muffin $2
Mickey Mouse Crisped Rice Treat - with chocolate covered ears $3.50

Thoughts: Depending on who is with us- whether it is an adults only trip or a kids in tow trip, the things we purchase vary. The kids get muffins and hot chocolate or chocolate milk, we get coffee. We like to come here after getting in a couple of rides in the mornings, and at night we enjoy grabbing a cup of coffee from here and sitting outside of ABC Commissary. Coffee is always very good. Muffins are too. Rating: 5 out of 5.

Hollywood Brown Derby:

What we ordered:

Curly Spinach, Watercress, Strawberry Salad - with Affinée Blue Cheese, Walnuts, and a Cranberry Vanilla Vinaigrette $9.00

Blue Lump Crab Cake - with Potato Crust, Green Cabbage Slaw, Cognac-Mustard Sauce, and Rémoulade $12.00

Duck Two Ways - Poached Duck Magret wrapped in Swiss Chard, Mushroom Vegetable Couscous, and a crispy Leg Confit Spring Roll with spicy Onion Jam $30.00

Char-grilled Filet of Beef - over White Truffle Whipped Potatoes, Mushroom Ragout, and Red Wine Reduction 6 oz $36.00 or 8 oz. $40.00

Thoughts: If you are on DDP this is a 2 credit meal. I don’t think it is worth spending that much for it. The restaurant itself is neat- I enjoyed the atmosphere- you feel like you have been in a time machine and truly are back in the Golden Age of Hollywood. It is a nice calm break from the crowded craziness in the park. The food is good, but expensive IMO for what you get.
We’ve never returned. Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Sci Fi Dine In Theater:

What we ordered:

Seven Bean Beef Chili - with shredded cheddar, pico de gallo, and tortilla strips $6.99

Smoked Turkey Sandwich - smoked turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato with avocado mayonnaise on multigrain bread served with cucumber salad $12.99

Cheese Pizza - served with veggies and sliced apples $8.99 (kids meal)

Thoughts: We have been to this restaurant twice- once on our Honeymoon, the other time with the kids in 2008. I have said it before, I’ll say it again- Mark has a really rough time when we hit DHS. He is usually right in the middle of dealing with a crisis at work when we go and he spends the whole day on the phone. Our last visit to Sci Fi was one of those times. Needless to say, the experience was not a joyous occasion. My Smoked Turkey Sandwich was sort of slimy feeling and soggy, the kids had milkshakes which they enjoyed and Mark had the chili and nothing else. The atmosphere here is really cool, I like it a lot; I just don’t feel that what we have ordered here has ever been good. Rating: 2 out of 5.

Mama Melrose:

What we ordered:??????

It’s been so long (2005 or 2006?) I don’t think much of it is on the menu anymore. I do remember ordering:

Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana - over Spaghetti $16.99.

I think Mark got salmon which isn’t on the menu anymore. The kids had pizza. None of it was enjoyable or even halfway good to any of us. Service was S-L-O-W-W-W-W. Way too long when you have a young child who can’t sit still for a long drawn out meal.

Thoughts: We’ve never returned. For awhile it was our worst experience at a WDW restaurant- until we ate at Nine Dragons in Epcot. It has been long enough that I might like to try it once more, but if it’s bad again I fear I’ll never hear the end of it from those in my party who are scarred for life. Yes FOR LIFE. We are dramatic. Rating: 2 out of 5.

Studio Catering Company

What we ordered:

Greek Salad with Olive and Feta Vinaigrette $6.49

Also, we usually get a Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich to share. (although it is no longer on the menu).

Kids get nuggets or PB&J.

Thoughts: We always have eaten here for a CS restaurant. While it is not great, it does the job of filling empty tummies. Rating: 3 out of 5.

Toy Story Pizza Planet:

What we ordered:

Pepperoni Pizza - with Mixed greens salad $8.29

Cheese Pizza - with Mixed Greens Salad $7.79

Thoughts: It’s just pizza. Not great but the kids enjoy it. Rating: 3 out of 5.

And that’s dining with us in DHS!

Shelly--- it's a good thing you aren't bringing Jack- Jack on vacation to WDW---- the girls would never be able to contain themselves. :lmao: MC already thinks your DS12 is adorable.:goodvibes Belle would fall head over heels and we already know that can't happen---- she and your youngest are already "arranged".:rotfl2:

Good Morning All -

Good update on DHS dining Jo -

I tend to agree pretty much with what you had to say about Brown Derby the only time we ate there was back in 1997? paying OOP and no one was really thrilled with the meal, plus for a DH with a hollow leg and two very hungry 18yr olds the portions just did not do at all. We are giving it another shot this Oct, I doubt it is worth the 2 DP credits but DH did not really want to eat anywhere else. I think we have tried eveyplace in DHS back when it was MGM but I do want to check out the Writers Stop this trip.

Last trip we took the friendship boat over to BW and lunched at ESPN I am thinking maybe of heading over there and trying BRGW, just not sure yet.

DHS is definately restaurant challenged IMHO

Sheila--- Writers Stop is YUMMY! I love it there. I think my coffee of choice this time however, will be frozen. No drinking a steaming cup when it's hotter than heck.

We did the same as you before- took the boat to the Boardwalk for supper. It's how I discovered BRG. We needed a TS and it was the only place that was open for us- (no reservations). Walked right in and enjoyed it a lot. I came back and told Shelly about it-- and she went and liked it. So we do have ONE restaurant that we agree on.:goodvibes

That's one in a row.
:rotfl2:

Well,...I have GOT to find the Writers Stop for my Mike!! He is a coffee man...I know he will be thrilled to go there...last trip we had to find something for lunch on our 2nd DHS day so we went to Hollywood and Vine and were very impressed with the food! It was buffet style, but it didn't have that look or taste of "I've-sat-here-all-day" thing you usually see! Of course, it was filled with families of smaller kids for the Little Einsteins, but it was still good...especially if you just can't swing Toy Story Pizza 2 days in a row!
