Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

I know, we are getting so close!! :cool1: I can't wait!

Have fun on your vacation. :goodvibes Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hi there!! Long time no "see". I'm so glad you're here!

I hope you get caught up soon and join us each day! :goodvibes In the second post of the thread there are links to updates, in-case you want to skip all the other chatter.

I remember when you and I (and a bunch of other Snowbirds) were at CBR at the same time! That was the last time we stayed at CBR. We are going to be staying there for half of this trip.

YAY for your 2012 trip!! :woohoo: When are you going? Where are you staying? :yay:

I'm slowly getting caught up! Love all the "chatter" so don't want to skip too much. :)

Haven't nailed down specifics on our trip yet (although that doesn't stop me from starting the planning!). It depends on our school schedule, which should come out soon after the first of the year. They're looking at changing some things around. We're looking at fall sometime. I want to stay at POR or POFQ, DH wants to stay at Pop....we'll see who wins. :lmao: I think we might go with friends who have only been one other time. I don't think they know what an obsessive planner I am! HA HA HA Gotta love the DIS!

Hello everyone! :goodvibes Happy Sunday!

I hope you are all having a good weekend. We haven't been doing much. Just hanging around the house with Jack. I think we are going to take him to the park this afternoon.

So did anyone see this announcement about the monorail not running for PM EHM? They are talking about it on the Poly thread and everyone is MAD!!

Monorails to no longer operate during Evening Extra Magic Hours
Jul 09, 2011

Beginning on July 11 2011, the Epcot monorail service will stop operation 1 hour after regular park closing, and from August 1 2011, the Magic Kingdom monorail will stop operation 1 hour after regular park closing. This means that in both cases, the monorail will not be able to return guests back to their resorts after evening Extra Magic Hours. Guests will instead be transported by bus and boats where available. Morning Extra Magic Hour service has not been affected. All indications are that this is a permanent change.

It doesn't really affect me, we never do PM EMH. But I just wanted everyone here to be aware!

Jodi will be back this week and I should hopefully have some more free time as well. So hopefully we can get this PTR rolling again! :thumbsup2

I wanted to go in the fall this year, but it just didn't work out with the school schedule. I'd like to go in October sometime and do MNSSHP.

I vote for POR out of those 3 resorts. :thumbsup2

Happy Sunday to You too!

I read that about the monorail and thought about you right away. We have done PM EMH on occasion but if I was still booked at CR I might be upset. I can see the point some were complaining about that I read, having to drag double strollers on a bus, but of course if I had little ones I doubt I would be staying for pm EMH anyhow.

I suddenly realized today that when I added visiting AK back in our schedule after switching to WL I had us eating at Yak & Yeti for lunch and 'Ohanas for dinner, similar style meals :confused3....... so I quickly checked the crowd calendars and ended up switching our DHS and AK days around.

Oh and I am at 100 Days today ! Double Digit Tomorrow

Have fun with Jack and your DSs at the park, it is a beautiful day here, I just came in from being out in the yard with Bella.

It seems like there are more and more cuts like that. I hate to see it. I understand they are trying to keep costs down, but it is frustrating for guests when they are depending on something like that and then find out it's not available.

However, it does have the wheels turning in my mind. Now I'm thinking that for them to do something like that, it must mean that attendance is low on EMH evenings. And if there is one thing I LOVE at WDW it's low attendance! :lmao: We have never done one single EMH morning or evening. We have never even been to a park on a day that it had EMH, but maybe I need to try it out this time and see if my theory is right.

Yeah I guess I can see why people are upset, but it's not like they are stuck with no transportation back to their resort. Maybe I'd be mad if I actually went to PM EMH! :confused3:rotfl:

Glad you got your schedule all straightened out! :thumbsup2 Again.

Congrats on 100 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

We went to the park for a few hours. Jack had a blast. He's sound asleep now!

You are probably right, attendance must be on the low side for PM EMH for them to do this. Maybe you should give it a try! ::yes:: :rotfl: We've never gone to a PM EMH, but have done the AM a few times. We did AM EMH at AK in November, but we didn't get there until about 8:35-8:40. And still we got to ride EE with no waiting 6 times in a row (well DS12 did, I only rode 1 or 2 times)!!

I guess we're not ambitious enough to stay for the PM EMH. :upsidedow I like to follow the rule of going to the park that has PM EMH the next morning! :)

WOW!! I haven't heard this...seems to me that it would be easier/faster to run the mono to those resorts and not buses...well,...we haven't been doing evening hours anyway..but I wonder if this means party events too?

Goodmorning, Shelly, and Jo - if you're here - and all of your PTR readers! :wave2:

I feel like I have been away forever! I did manage to check in a couple of times while I was on vacation, but it still feels like I have missed a lot!

Shelly, Jack is adorable! :cutie: I hope I didn't jinx you when I said it would be crazy when you're tending to a newborn. So you've had Jack for a week now.....I hope he is sleeping more and peeing less! I've never even had a dog, but I know from my DSis that they are very time-consuming when you first bring them home. The pics of your boys with Jack on the ride home are precious! They look made for each other.

I hope your DS is over his bout of bronchitis and that the boys are able to enjoy their summer playing with Jack and doing whatever else summer has to offer. :goodvibes

We got back yesterday from our week at the beach. This was the anti-Disney vacation. That doesn't mean I am anti-Disney, but that our trip was the complete opposite of our past trips to WDW. We stayed in a townhome right on the beach, and in 7 days I left the house only twice - once when DH and I went to the grocery store and once when he and I went to buy me some new sunglasses (Polarized, very important for future reference) and attempt to eat out. Apparently, there are too few restaurants for the number of people looking to eat dinner out. :upsidedow No thanks, 1 to 1 1/2 hours is too long to wait. Cheese and crackers doesn't sound so bad after all!

Every morning we were out on the beach by 8:00 or so, and we basically stayed out there until late afternoon. The weather was great, if by great you mean HOT and not a drop of rain. We had a big tent to sit under, or else I wouldn't have lasted for more than an hour. With my fair skin, fair hair and blue eyes, I would have fried on the first day without the tent and SPF 50! The water was crystal clear and so calm up until Saturday, and we could just float on rafts without getting beat up by the waves. We found lots of pretty shells, too. When we weren't in the water we were just relaxing in our beach chairs. I actually read an entire book from start to finish! I know that sounds pathetic, but I have a hard time just sitting for a length of time and concentrating on a book. I really think I am an undiagnosed adult with ADD. But it was a good book and it made me want to try to do some more reading at home. My DH had to outdo me though, and read 2 books before I finished my one!

We chose the week we did because it was the Blue Angels week in Pensacola Beach. I hadn't seen the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds since I was a little girl, so I was completely unaware of what it was all about. Wow! That's the best word to describe it. The Angels flew over at least 4 days, but the main show was on Saturday. I can't believe the things those pilots can do! It takes your breath away the way they come screaming so low over the roofs of the condos and then straight up into the sky until you can't even see them. They fly upside down, sideways, straight at each other, and turning over. It is really scary to watch at times! :scared1: But it was really an exciting thing to see!

My kitty did really well on the trip, too. The ride up there wasn't so great with him, and I will just leave it at that! But once we got to the condo, he was pretty easy to handle. He had his own room, how could he complain? Coming home, he was great. He stayed in my lap the entire 4 hours and was pretty calm and quiet.

I can't believe your trips are so close to being here! Less than 7 weeks now, right? Is all the shopping done yet? ;) What did your DH decide on the flip flops?

On the Epcot dining......we have only been to a few of the places you have gone to. We have had lunch at LC, dinner at SAI, and dinner at Teppan Edo. I remember liking them all and would probably go back. We've had CS at Liberty Inn, Tangierine Cafe, and Yorkshire County Fish Shop. I think I'd like to try some different places, though, including Via Napoli, Marrakesh, and Akershus.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July! That seems so long ago now! Jodi, I hope the wedding was beautiful and happy! :goodvibes And I hope you have some pics to share when you get home. Shelly, please keep the pics of Jack coming!

OK, I'm off to tackle a huge pile of sandy laundry. There was a W/D in the condo, but I only washed when we needed clean towels. So now I am paying for it!

Shelly - That Taco Salad looks really good. I definitely want to try that the next time we are at MK. I can't believe how young your boys look in those pictures! Great WDW memories.

Jo - Have a safe trip!

T-Bird - This is our first Alaskan cruise. We will be on the Island Princess. We really like Princess cruises and have been on several of them. Cruising is a wonderful and relaxing experience. I highly recommend it! PM me if you want more info or have any questions.

- Sea :cool1:

Thanks, Sea! :goodvibes I have heard from several people who recommend Princess cruises, so I'm glad to hear that you like them, too. I hope you have a great time, and I would love to hear about your trip when you get back. Please let me know if you are doing a TR on any boards!

Hey Shawna!

From what they are saying on the Poly thread it sounds like the change will include the parties. Which I think is a bad idea!

You're ticker starts with a 3!!! :dance3:

Good morning Teri. :goodvibes Welcome back!

I'm so glad to hear that your vacation was so nice. I hope I'm saying the same thing when we get back from WDW. But the heat sure does have me worried. :scared1:

Too bad you didn't get to eat out. I wonder why they don't have more restaurants? I wouldn't wait an hour to an hour & a half either. :sad2:

I bet the Blue Angels was a really neat thing to see!

Well Jack is sleeping more, but not peeing less. :upsidedow Good grief. I guess water goes through a 4 lb body pretty quickly. :scared1: :rotfl:

DS is feeling much better. Thanks.

Yep, we are under 7 WEEKS!! :cool1: Is the shopping done? I doubt it!

DH returned his flip flops.

I haven't heard from Jodi in about 2 days, but I am assuming she is home or very close to being home by now. Hopefully she will check in soon.

Hope you get the laundry done fast!

I'm so glad to hear that your vacation was so nice. I hope I'm saying the same thing when we get back from WDW. But the heat sure does have me worried. :scared1:

We were lucky to be able to get in the water to cool off, and the breeze was pretty constant. But I don't remember a beach vacation when we didn't have a little rain. Maybe you will get some of those typical afternoon showers to cool things off.

Too bad you didn't get to eat out. I wonder why they don't have more restaurants? I wouldn't wait an hour to an hour & a half either. :sad2:

I remember from trips in the past that all restaurants on the beach are really crowded at dinner time. :confused3 Pensacola Beach is a pretty small and narrow strip of land, so there aren't a whole lot of places really nearby. We could have gone across the bridge to the mainland and found some more places, but I was happy enough to eat what we had in the condo. DH did pick up a Subway. This was the night we went to get me some new sunglasses. I don't know if it was the sun, the salt water, or the suncsreen, and I couldn't even tell if it was the outside or the inside of my eyes. But they burned like heck, and I wasn't too disappointed to skip eating out.

I bet the Blue Angels was a really neat thing to see!

It was awesome! Very thrilling!

Well Jack is sleeping more, but not peeing less. :upsidedow Good grief. I guess water goes through a 4 lb body pretty quickly. :scared1: :rotfl:

How are you attempting to train him? Do you bring him outside a lot or use those pee pads? I hope it gets better soon!

DS is feeling much better. Thanks.

I'm glad to hear that!

Yep, we are under 7 WEEKS!! :cool1: Is the shopping done? I doubt it!

It was a dumb question. :guilty:

DH returned his flip flops.

Another dumb question.

I hope so! I know we all miss her.

Hope you get the laundry done fast!

It'll get done......fast, I'm not so sure! ;)

I'm going to go ahead and move onto DHS Dining today....

We had dinner at Hollywood & Vine once, several years back. I actually don't remember too much about it, other than it was a buffet and we thought it was just okay. Sorry, no pics.

We have had dinner at Mama Melrose 2 times, in 2008 & 2009. Both times we had the Fantasmic package. We really enjoyed our first experience there. The atmosphere is very nice and the food was very good. The second time was nice but not as good as the first time. Both times service was extremely slow. But we had heard that prior to going and were ready for it.

We have had lunch once and dinner twice at Sci-Fi Dine In. Over the last few years this has become a favorite for our family and we are definitely heading back this summer! We have had excellent service and really enjoyed the atmosphere there. And the milkshakes are the best!

Despite all of the bad things we had heard about ABC Commissary, we decided to give it a try a few trips ago. It was okay. We just got burgers and fries. The buns were soggy. Yuck! The service was very good and the CM's were very friendly. We probably won't hurry back.

Sometimes we stop at Min & Bill's Dockside Diner for a quick snack too! And last year we hit a little snack cart by the tip board in DHS and got some yummy treats (at about 10am!!).

Our summer dining plans for DHS are to have dinner at Sci-Fi again! That is our only ADR at DHS. Since we will probably spend at least 2 half days there we will need to find a CS to eat at. . . Not sure on that one yet. Any suggestions?

Hey Teri!

I forgot to comment about your kitty in my other post. I'm so glad he did so well for most of the trip. I hope he wasn't too sick on the way there. You're right, he couldn't complain too much if he had his own room!! I wish I had my own room on vacation!

Yes, we started training Jack as soon as we got him home. He did great the first few days with only a few accidents. Then things went downhill. I don't know if he started to get comfortable with us and decided he could pee anywhere or what. :scared: We take him out every half hour or so, and right after eating or drinking. So we are constantly taking him out. Which isn't too bad when we rotate it between the 3 of us (and 4 when DH is home), but DS9 is starting to lose interest. He was in tears the other night and when I asked him what was wrong he said that he was getting tired of Jack and was really missing our dog. I know how he is feeling. It is a big change and I hope we didn't jump into this too soon. I told him to try to love & accept Jack for who he is and not to expect him to be like our dog we had his whole life.

Aww, that makes me want to cry! Bless his heart. I don't know how much you can play/tease with him, but I was thinking maybe you could say something about how when he was a baby, all he did was sleep, eat, and pee too. But you stuck it out, and look how much fun he is now! Or maybe that Charlie was the same way when he was a puppy, but look how great he turned out. If he finds things funny, he might be able to laugh and agree that he needs to give Jack a chance to get settled and become fun and not just work. Also, that it's OK to miss Charlie, and that Jack would probably have loved Charlie, too. I don't think you jumped into it too soon. Those feelings were bound to come up no matter when you got a new dog. And it worked out practically for you to get him now, when y'all are home but not right before your trip. I think he will turn out even better with all the attention you are able to give him now. Anything that cute just has to be sweet, too! I'm sure that things will get better day by day. :goodvibes

Hi Shelly!
Great DHS dining update! I enjoyed reading your thoughts.
We are actually eating at Mama Melrose tonight! We drove up to WDW this morning from my in-laws in Marco Island. We hit EPCOT at around 12:30, and we just got back to the BWI. It was quite humid, but it wasn't too bad. We are going to head out again at around 6 and go to Mama Melrose and EMH at DHS.
Hope you are having a good day!

Afternoon ladies! I talked to Jodi about an hour ago and she was almost home! :goodvibes

Hey Lauren!! I am so jealous that you are headed to DHS and Mama Melrose!!

How were the crowds at Epcot? How is the BWI? :cloud9:

It is hot and humid here today. Hotter than WDW. :faint:

Have a great night! :thumbsup2

Thanks Teri. I will definitely try some of those tips. It is hard for me though because I know exactly how he is feeling. I am having some of the same feelings myself. But I'm not giving up. Jack is too cute and sweet not to love! :lovestruc

We have "sandbox time" everyday when he gets up from his nap around 1:00. He just loves it! He digs like crazy. Today he made a WDW sand castle!!

Good Afternoon

Good update on the DHS Dining. I think we have eaten at everyplace in DHS at least once if not more times and funny thing is I can honestly say I do not truely have a favorite, but if I had to pick one it would be 50's Prime Time and only because I loved the meatloaf there . In fact I would be happy eating there in October but DH said what about Brown Derby so I made an ADR for there instead. We ate at BD back the year we went with DS and his BF, the food was good but there just was not enough of it to satisfy two 18yr old boys.

I hope check out the Writers Stop? is that what it is called? Books and coffee , if DH should be a lil grumpy that will cheer him up.

Glad to hear your DS's bronchitis is better, nothing worse than being sick when it is hot.

I felt so bad when I read about your DS(9) crying over Jack and missing your other dog. It has to be so hard when you had a pet your entire life and then to lose them. I know my youngest when he lost his cat and then our dog at age 19, which he had had for most of his life age 2 and on shocked me when he said when he had kids he wasn't letting them have pets it was too hard when they died. He changed his mind a few years later when he met his gf/wife and she had a dog. In fact for his 28th B-Day we got him another dog after he had seen it and fell in love. I guess what I am saying is it will get better for your DS(9) and you too

Also after having 3 dogs I have come to the conclusion that they are just like children and will get trained when they are ready, not when you are
:rotfl:

Love the new pics of Jack and Jack's castle, glad to see he is a fan of Disney too.

Double Digits for Me !!!!:banana::banana:

DHS leaves some to be desired when it comes to food doesn't it, especially CS? We are planning on eating at Starring Rolls on our next trip. I've heard really good things about the food there. Maybe you could give it a try too. I think it is primarily a sandwich shop.

We have eaten at Pizza Planet, Fairfax Fare, Mama Melrose and Sci-Fi. PP and FF were just ok. We liked Sci-Fi and MM though and would eat there again. I would consider trying 50's but my DD is so shy that I think the teasing might bother her. We might try it when she's older and she "gets it".

Got a few questions for you on the Fantasmic Package... did you think it was worth it? Did it save you time by not having to wait in line so long? Was the area that you had to sit in a good spot? (I've read it is way off in the corner) We have the F! package booked for MM this time, but I'm debating weather or not it is worth if or if we should just get in line like everyone else and save that dining credit. I also don't know if it would be worth it if Disney extends the nightly showings of F! into October.

So sorry to hear that your DS is having a hard time adjusting to a new dog. That's a hard one. It is a bittersweet thing isn't it? I'm sure once the puppy adjusts, your DS will too.

I LOVE the Disney sand castle!!!! :)

AWW!! Your poor little guy!:sad1: That made me sad for him..he's such a sweetie! Those darn puppies are frustrating..which is why we are still putting off getting doggie #2!!! I love our dog, but the kids would love another one..I am not, nor have I ever been obessed or a super pet/dog lover...but our dog was house trained and has never chewed anything! So, I don't want to push it! I have tried to many times and the 2 dogs that were really promising were stolen!!! In 2 diff neighborhoods! it was just crazy!! speaking of dogs,..we are taking her in tomorrow to have her teeth cleaned at the Vet...they said for her appt last year to get it done soon,...it's almost been a year already!!!! I really intended to do it after christmas, but I totally forgot about it...hopefully she'll do well....

Poor kid! I understand what he's feeling. It's one of the reasons I'm not ready for a pet right now. It's just so much work!

DHS Dining -
We've eaten at ABC Commissary, Toluca Turkey Legs (only DH), Studio Catering Co, and Pizza Planet (also some places when I went with my parents, but I don't remember exactly, because it wasn't "planned"). For TS we've eaten at Sci Fi Dine In, 50s Prime Time, and the Brown Derby.
On our next trip, we'll likely try Hollywood & Vine (breakfast with characters) and the Starring Rolls Cafe (it's always closed when we want to eat there).

That would leave only Mama Melrose's for Table Service on a future trip. We'll probably return to all the ones we've already done at some point for lack of variety, but Sci Fi Dine In is the most likely, because DH likes it so much. It's not my favorite, but I won't mind going back.
