Okay if you had the option between these two, which would you pick?

Poly, Garden View, 10 days

or

Animal Kingdom Lodge, CL, 10 days

First we had AKL booked (savannah view) then we changed to Poly (garden view) and now we are thinking of AKL CL. We just cannot make up our minds! We switched to the Poly because the one thing we dislike about AKL is transportation, but when I crunched some numbers I noticed AKL CL and Poly GV come out about the same money wise for us. I can't decide if the transportation wins out over CL or not (since I've never stayed at either of these resorts, nor have I ever stayed CL).

Any opinions?

Personally, my vote would be for the Poly. But here is something to consider in your calculations. CL offers food during certain periods of the day and from what I've heard...it can be a lot! So, you may end up spending less on breakfast, dinner and snacks than you would staying at the Polynesian. Something to consider! In my opinion though, the transportation and theming at the Poly cannot be beat!

We stayed at Poly before and I love the atmosphere. Actually always stayed there when the kids were young. We stayed at AK savanna view once (not CL) and I loved it. It was for our anniversary AND it was right after 911 so it was a more relaxed trip. We didn't have any problems witih the buses but there weren't too many people in the parks those days. If you don't have young kids with you I'd vote for AKL - CL.

Hmmm... This is hard.

If I was basing my decision on location/transportation, I would go with the Poly because of the monorail and proximity to MK.
However, I really would like to stay at AKL, mostly because of the theme and the idea of seeing animals at my resort. Also, staying at a standard room at AKL is much cheaper than the Poly.

I don't know, I'd probably pick AKL... but I'm not sure!!

Honestly, we weren't able to decide on this one, so we're doing a split-stay between them. Some time at AKL CL and some time at Poly (CL, too). With 10 days for your vacation, you might want to consider this.

We're going to AKL, BB, and DHS while at AKL.
We're going to MK, EP, TL while at the Poly.

Best of both worlds!:)

I like the idea of splitting the stay also. We have stayed at both and liked them both very much. I think if I had to pick one for a longer stay I would prefer Poly. Just seemed like there was more to do and get to easily from there. For a few days it's not such a big deal, but for 10 days I think the seclusion of Animal Kingdom would get to me. It's not just the one bus out or back each day, but when we go for longer visits we sometimes like to break up the day and do different things. It just seems to me that the Poly gives you more options.

I would go Polynesian Garden View because I think it's a better overall location then the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I like their theme a lot more and they have better transportation options.

Regardless of where you stay you still have to rely on busses at some time. I honestly don't see them as a problem. I've used the busses from AKL and never had a problem -- in fact I prefer the busses there than at Poly or the other MK resorts because they all share busses with other resorts. The busses at AKL share with no other resort. I also like that fact that AKL is all indoor. You don't have to go outside to get to the main building which is really nice if it is raining for really hot. The pool at Poly is way to small for the size of the resort and very often way to crowded to enjoy while the pool at AKL is huge and even on really busy days doesn't seem crowded. Finally, what better way to eat breakfast than on your balcony looking at the animals. I'd stay at AKL.

We have stayed at both, love the Poly and would go back there GV over AKL CL anyday....

reason I say that is the AKL is just too far from the action for us. If we were ever to go back to the AKL it would have to be CL because of the Sunrise Safari, totally made the stay there worth it. We were there for 5 days and did not have one bit of trouble with the transportation.
