Which home resort is the best value?

Lots of great info here, and a variety of ways to look at "value". One other item that I think makes OKW attractive is the lower per night point cost. If you were to calculate the per night cost based on a purchase price + MF's, I think OKW would compare favorably due to the lower point requirements. Especially if you had an extended contract.

That only comes into play as a home resort option if you're routinely using options that you can't get at the 7 month window, like a 3 BR GV. Otherwise, anyone reserving gets the same lower points benefit.

Just an opinion, but I like OKW. Low maintenance dues, large rooms and I prefer the design and theme of the resort.

You have to watch the end year of OKW resales. Most expire in 2042, some in 2057 (owners bought an extension). With a young family, they would probably want a later date.

SSR is 2054, AKV is 2057, BLT is 2060. BWV, BCV, VWL are 2042.

Thanks again for the info. My DH just had a mtg in Orlando and the kiddos and I went down for the day as well. I had a chance to do a quick drive through some of the properties and am leaning towards AKL. Just had the "Disney" feeling to me. :goodvibes

I still would like to do a walk through of the model units and take a longer look around the different properties when I have time. I am hoping they all have the fabulously themed pools that the regular resorts have! We like to go to the parks, but we also love just soaking up the resort amenities!

All the info everyone has given has been SO helpful! It is much appreciated! :)

For a family of four with a fifth on the way, you might want to consider any of the resorts that the one bedrooms sleep five. That would be AKV, BLT and OKW. BLT is not a bargain for purchase even on resale nor to stay there. It pains me to say that because I love BLT, but it's true.

Like others have said the villas at OKW are the largest and the points cost per night are low. AKV has value villas that the point cost per night is slightly lower than OKW, but they sleep four not five. SSR would cost less to purchase a resale than OKW and AVK, but the point cost per night is higher. BTW the standard/Savanna view rooms at Kidani Village have two bathrooms. Whereas the value and villas at Jambo House all have 1 bathroom at AKV.

I don't think you'd go wrong with choosing AKV, OKW or SSR. Just keep in mind that a member of your family will have to sleep on air mattress (that you provide) at SSR once the baby gets old enough for a bed.

For us it has been OKW and reason for that is the size of rooms, nice casual place to stay, family members of all ages have loved it. It might be the best price on re-sale market if looking for deals. Our youngest was 7 when we joined. Good luck
