DVC Point Transfer Rules

More transfer help please? 30 year DVC member. My next potential transfer UY is Oct 2027. I am guessing the points transferred in have to be Oct 2027 or later points is that correct? Do any points banked into 2027 count?

Thank you!! :badpc:

No they don’t have to be Oct 2027, just 2027 points.

It’s based on the points one is getting…so, you can get Feb 2027 points and then it counts as your 2027 transfer, even though those points can be used on dates that fall in your Oct UY because points don’t change when transferred.

I saw an ad on Facebook today about a company that will purchase DVC transfer points and pay you in 24 hours. I won't give specifics as to not cause censorship issues. My question is HOW can they do that given the limitations on transfers? Can't their account only receive 1 transfer in? Otherwise they would have to have hundreds of accounts, right?

Lots of LLC memberships or standing customer requests.

And they wouldn't be able to transfer them back out because of the limitations on number of transfers, so would have to rent the points out instead.

Each membership can receive or transfer out once per UY. However You, me and the LLC’s can have many many memberships.

You have 1 membership per UY. That assumes they are deeded the same.

If they aren’t deeded the same the number increases exponentially. I don’t know how many ways you can hold a property.

Almost. Just because you have multiple memberships doesn't allow you multiple transfers. If you transfer between 2 of your memberships they seem to treat that as 1 transfer, but if you tried to transfer points out of 2 of your different memberships to strangers there is verbiage in the rules that they could use to stop you.

They specify that transfer rules apply both to club members (the person) and the club memberships

"During a given Use Year, only one (1) Transfer per Club Member or Club membership, either as Transferee or Transferor, will be permitted."

So as soon as a club member (owner/person) makes 1 transfer, they have now used their 1 maximum transfer and their other memberships may be locked out of doing transfers for that year as well. So it would have to be a different person calling AND a different membership. So possibly like the spouse of the person heading the LLC that called for a transfer from Membership 1 could call for a transfer in Membership 2, as long as they are a member on membership 2.

IE it takes a second membership and a second member on the title to possibly be eligible for more transfers

Unless the rules recently changed, the text you wrote( I highlighted) at least until now have meant 1 transfer per club membership. The membership is not plural. You can indeed get 1 transfer per UY/membership. Since I own multiple memberships I can get multiple transfers in or out or a combination hereof. Maybe the keyword is "OR", if you only have 1 membership it basically means the same. If you have multiple then the "OR" kicks-in and allows you 1 transfer per UY.

With the changes last year, transfers done between your own memberships now counts towards your 1 transfer. However that was per membership/UY not per member.

Not sure this part is quite correct still. If you have 2 memberships and transfer between them then they still are counting that as 1 single transfer as it is 1 transaction total.

But if you as a single member (with a single login) have a bunch of different memberships on your account because their use years start at different times, they by rule do not have to allow you to do transfers in all of them, they could stop you after a single transaction as you have reached your 1 per Club Member limit before you met your 1 per Membership limit. (Now they could still not enforce that part, just like they used to not enforce any limit at all when transferring between your own contracts even while there was always technically a 1 time limit)

Now you may be able to get around that as others have said if the "club members" are just the names of different LLCs or if there is a second member/spouse that is also on the additional contracts that can use their transfer on the remaining contract(s) as well.
