Where's the sunken Mickey?

On the DCL video they show the sunken Mickey that you can see while snorkeling...is it found when you're on the regular snorkeling trail? My son is so excited about seeing that!!

Unless they moved it, it is located about 3/4 of the way back right in the middle. It's really kinda far out. I was tired when I reache dit but got some great photos.

Thanks! I hope it's not too far for the kids to make it there...they'd be disappointed not to see it.

Before you go in the water look at the map at the waters edge. It tells you where it is located.

You can ask a lifeguard when you get out there. Its halfway between the red A and B bouys.

(And unless your kids are pretty strong swimmers, its really far out. I almost turned back - and I had a struggle getting back in.)

Jeri, or Mary, or Crisi, sounds like it might be good to use flippers if it's out that far (especially for not-so-stong swimmers), do they rent flippers on CC?
I know you can rent snorkel gear, but I'd rather not have to pack our flippers, they take up a lot of room.

They do rent flippers at CC. My DD (7) made the trip with my Mom back in October. So it can be done by younger children

Your very welcome Mike! We actually did pack flippers, and we used them at Chaankanab, as the water was quite choppy. You are correct though, what a PITA they were to pack!

I'm a 52yo, overweight, out of shape guy and I made it out to the sunken Mickey without too much trouble. I had to see it and wish that I had an underwater camera to get a good shot of it.

The rented flippers helped a lot.

We bring our own mask and snorkel and yes you can rent the flippers there and the life vests are mandatory and free for use.

I'm not what you can a very experienced snorkeler at all (I needed a mask with my perscription in it and hadn't snorkeled in over 10 years) and I was able to make it. Part of the beauty is taking your time and relaxing as part of it - not making it a race.

Best advice - head out early. You have the lagoon pretty much to yourself and the water isn't full of kicked-up sand.

Does anyone remember how much it was to rent these flippers? I got all my kids masks and snorkles for Xmas, but no flippers. I only have one child who would qualify for childs rate..the rest are older than 9. Thanks..Melissa

lol @ Randy! And thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'm a stong swimmer myself, but as Mary said, why wear yourself out, you're on vacation relax. But flipper do make long snorkels easier.
My problem is always getting back, after I look at my watch (always be sure they're waterproof) and realize I should have been back in 10 minutes ago. lol!

Okay...looking into snorkeling on CC further, I see there's two trails. Let me guess..the sunken Mickey's not in the beginner's trail, is it? How deep is the water out in the advanced swimmer's trail? I'm just a little concerned about my 7 yr old out there...he's a decent swimmer.
