I bought 100 points in Bay Lake towers about a month or so ago.
why didnt i get a cruise?
IMO that was a real shaft.
If i had known, I could have waited two months to add on and gotten a free cruise.
I really feel slated.
What am i missing here?:confused3

Incentives change all the time. If the cruise was on top of DPs you might be able to fight to get it, but since you received DPs as your incentive, unfortunately I don't think there is much ground for a change. I was fortunate that we hadn't signed our paperwork yet. I'm sure incentives will continue to get better if the economy worsens and I'll be bummed that I didn't get that deal too.

Can't blame the guides either, mine didn't know about the cruise incentive until she heard my voicemail. Info travels quick on the DIS. Often quicker than DVC's internal communications...
Her assumption was that DVC had probably planned to roll out with the Jan 15 min add on/pricing changes, but couldn't get through Legal in time.

That's how it's been with the deals. You never know what's coming next or if you should wait.

Incentives come, incentives go. I purchased 150 points at the Grand Californian 2 weeks back and was happy with the developer points. It seems like the cruise incentive in place of the the developer points came out 2 days after we purchased but we had already put in a ressie at the GC using the developer points. We love cruising and truly love DCL, but it wasn't meant to be. I wasn't going to get into a screaming match about fair/unfair because it's really all one's own perception about what fair is.

Hey, you could wait a few more months and see what the next set of incentives are....and then wait for a few more months to hear about the next set. It could go on and on. Someone is always going to get a better deal if you continually second guess what you might (should have) get (gotten).

I read somewherer that someone who got developer points called and was able to switch to the cruise. If you did not use them yet, you might want to check.

I just bought last Saturday at BLT and didn't want the cruise because I teach and can't make any of the dates. I aksed for the developer points and that is what I got.

I believe you'd only be able to switch if you hadn't signed your docs yet or were within the 10 day window to cancel your contract and start fresh. A few of us on the VGC thread did switch, but all were w/in those timeframes. I did hear that when BLT was first sold not even DPs were offered, and those members were able to get the DPs even though they had already closed, but that's a little bit different...

I didnt get anything!
I just got my regular allotment of points for this year.
At least I think? My UY is March, so I used March as my add on.
My points will come on in March.

The promotion was sent out to existing members, to pass on to friends and family.

I'd certainly give them a call though...

I AM an existing member. This was my third add on.

I was on the February 1st cruise, which was the first one to announce the new incentives and the DVC guide was really excited to share them. For members adding on 100 points, they offered the free 3 day cruise, just like they're offering to everyone now. But on the cruise they were also offering a free 4 day cruise if you added 125 points or a free 7 day cruise if you added on 200 points! Great incentives. I think we're going to be seeing more incentives since sales are down.

I know this info doesn't help you, sorry, just wanted to share.

You can certainly call your guide and ask. No harm in that.

Realistically, though, I don't see where it's a case of getting cheated out of something. Those kinds of promotions come and go all the time. Occasionally it's a free vacation. Sometimes it's a free AP. Sometimes you get 'em, sometimes you miss 'em.

To me, it's no different from buying a TV at Best Buy, and then a month later they're giving away a DVD player with a TV purchase. I'd be disappointed, sure, but I wouldn't expect Best Buy to give me a free DVD player because I bought a TV a month before the sale started.

Members who added on to BLT before the matching DP promotion have been able to later call and get the points. I heard you have to call and ask, they aren't proactively making it retroactive.

We bought our DVC on a 7 day cruise in December and was given DP. Trust me I wish we would have waited because I would have preferred another cruise to the DP.
