Where to get dollars these days!?

Ramsdens was 1.6710 yesterday

Who are Ramsdens? Only one I have heard of are Harry Ramsdens but they are Fish & Chips

Ok, just Googled, never heard of them but they have one 5 miles away from us https://www.ramsdensforcash.co.uk/buy-it/travel-money/ Only 1.6531 this morning but still slightly better than Money shop at 1.6485

Thomas Global Exchange - they always have the best rate I can find, and for those outside of London they do deliver http://www.thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk/

They are quoting $1.6756 this morning which is still very good

I don't know why Wayne but the rates in their shop always seem to be higher than are shown online. This has happened every time I used them this year. Just looked online and it is showing 1.6531 in Cwmbran, phoned the shop and they said they're offering 1.6711, got to be good

are there fees or higher fees at the shop ?

because the rate might be better, but if there are higher fees, then the amount of $$$ you get in the end will be less than the amount you'd get at a lower rate without fees. iyswim

No they didn't charge me any fees.

If you look at my last post I just edited it to show the rate showing online and the rate they're giving in the shop. What also does not make any sense to me is that five miles down the road in Newport, the same company are only giving 1.6570 in the shop, yet Cwmbran are giving 1.6711.

Very rare you get an exchange charging fees in the UK. Infact I am not sure I have ever seen fees (only when abroad)

No they didn't charge me any fees. If you look at my last post I just edited it to show the rate showing online and the rate they're giving in the shop. We noticed this too, I got mine from the money shop in Cwmbran as I changed the majority but the boys had saved some money and wanted it in dollars. I was very happy with 1.67

To be honest there's never a lot of difference between Ramsdens and the money shop, they both always give good rates.

Nice to see someone else getting their dollars in Cwmbran lol. Are you from Cwmbran or do you just shop here?

Always get best rates in cwmbran plus i can squeeze in a bit more holiday shopping From Caerleon but live in Risca these days

Help, I've just noticed the exchange rate dipped a bit today so am now panicing I've left it too late to get my dollars before a more normal rate resumes!

Where does everyone else get their currency from these days? I'd prefer somewhere to walk into, but I suppose I could order online - but delivery will be awkward!

I used a comparison website and always find that Travel FX come up with the best rate. You can pay by bank transfer or by taking the cash into the bank and they send them in the mail. They're offering $1.6635 as of today which is far better than you'll get on the high street

Thomas Cook have an app called "What's the Rate?" I used that last year to order and collect at an excellent rate. Just looked, currently the dollar is 1.6430

Trying the Debenhams service today for Euros. I posted about it a few months back.
Did a search on the link I posted on first page of this thread, its the best rate available locally to me at 1.2001 (Interbank 1.2245) plus you get a £5 Debenhams voucher for using MoneySavingExpert.com
All you do is print the voucher and take to branch with cash, will post later if they honour the rate and voucher.

Back to square one. Even though the Debenhams website says they have an exchange at their meadowhall store they don't. Will try again sometime.
