we just bought into SSR and I have never used any of the spas at Disney. So I was wondering, what service do people generally get?

I didn't ask that right. Sorry, I should have read my own post better. What I mean is, what do YOU like to get? Is it something different than you would get if you were at home? Does anyone get a manicure/pedicure or do you go for something different?

I understood your first question. I am wondering about the same thing. This is a good question for DVC'ers who are no longer being park commandos. We are reaching that point, and starting to think of DVC as a resort destination.

So far, I've only tried the manicure and pedicure...both at the GF. Manicure was nice...relaxing. But I absolutely LOVED the pedicure. I went at the end of our week at WDW, when my feet were feeling a little over-used. The pedicure was just the thing to perk them up and made my legs so much happier. I've noticed a treatment for tired feet/legs....can't remember what its called....revitalizing treatment or something like that. That's next on my list. Any suggestions for the full body massages????

I had a massage at GF while DD was booked for the Pirate Cruise (the though cruise never happened). It was great.

My DSIL had a message at BW this year and really enjoyed it though not the same in overall experience (ie presentation of spa v. fitness center).

I did learn they have a traveling massuse for all the DVC fitness centers so you can book anywhere. a

DW absolutely lurves spa treatments, and here's her two favorites, both kind of exotic. Number one is the hot stone massage, where stones are heated and placed on various points of your body. I don't know if SSR offers that, it's kind of a new treatment. But she says that it's absolute heaven. She's practically incoherent after one of these.

Her second favorite is the one where they pour a thin stream of warm oil on your forehead for 30 minutes or so. It sounds weird to me. DW says it's not for everyone, but it is definitely for her.

Her other advice is that if your not sure which treatment you want, just tell them what kind of outcome you're looking for when you call. By outcome, she means relaxation, generally getting the kinks out, working a certain part of the body, etc. SSR will be a world class spa and they will know what to prescribe for you.

I did one of the half day programs last summer and it was wonderful.

60 minute Keriosoftness massage (basically a full body massage with special moisturizers) Very Nice

30 minute Reflexology massage (foot massage) So good I fell asleep. I swear if I do nothing else next time I will do this!

90 minute Vitamin C facial with eye contours. I didn't like this at all and couldn't wait for it to be over. Maybe if it had been shorter I would have been happier

Basic Manicure (trim, clean, hand massage, nail polish) Was nice, but I promptly ruined the polish and had to search the resort for remover that evening.

My favorite treatment is the Cocoon Wrap, where you are covered in treated towels and sink into a special water bed that envelopes you.........:)

I had a friend tell me that although the packages are nice, by your 3rd or 4th service in a row, you have reached your relaxation peak so you dont enjoy the later services as much. She said she would definitely break hers up next time. (she received it as a gift from her DH)

I do like having a service and then enjoying the spa amenities such as the fitness center, steam room, sauna, whirlpool, lounge and read a magazine and then use the vanity to get ready. I can spend a good 3-5 hours in there easy! Does SSR have all of this?

I've had manicures and pedicures at what is now the Spa at SSR as well as reflexology. All were great. As Nette said, the reflexology is wonderful...talk about your feet feeling better. Jenny did a wonderful job with manicures and pedicures. I also did a 1/2 day program called Bed of Roses...facial, body massage and wrap with this wonderful rose fragranced "product" as well as manicure or pedicure...can't remember which was included cause I added the other. The products used for this were from a different line than those used by the GF spa. It sounds as if Nicki Bryan (sp?) salons might be doing the SSR Spa now, so I'm afraid those products won't be offered.:(

I love the hot stone massage. That is just fabulous.

most places are offering the hot stone massage. I have heard of the warm oil on the forehead treatment but I don't think it is offered at any of the spas at Disney yet.

Usually (I'm a guy) I limit myself to a nice massage. Recently, however, my wife talked me into a massage-for-two (at another resort) that included an exfoliating rub. I thought it was the silliest damn thing on earth--until it actually started, at which point I like it so much that I think I started to purr.
