Okay everyone....

Tell me the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you.

You only get to tell about ONE thing... so choose wisely. :teeth:

What a great question, DD!

I think if I had to pick one single thing, I would choose my husband and his kindness when my mother was sick. Having lost my father just a few years prior, our whole family was just coming apart at the seams when my mother was so sick. DH took over, he helped her with everything from getting her affairs in order to taking her to the doctors (sometimes having to physically carrying her out of the house) to putting up with my severe depression while it was happening and after she died. I always knew I married the right guy, but that sealed it for me.

Guess I should post mine! :p

One of many nice things that others have done for me....

Several years ago after waiting many, many years and saving my money up - I was finally able to build a small very functional barn for my horses. Up to that time, I had made do with less than adequate facilities. My best friend knew how much I ached to have that barn, and how much "sweat" I put into it - so that I not only could afford it - but because having it was so important to me.

Later that year at Christmas, I got together with my two best friends and did our annual gift exchange. My dear friend handed me a small package. Inside were two brass name plates for the horse's stalls. Their names engraved perfectly on each one. Little brass screws to mount them.

And I cried such tears of pleasure. This was not a gift of "oh geez - what do I get her?". No - it was a gift of a friend who saw into my desires and heart and knew what I needed - knew because she cared enough to look at me and see it.

Just a little thing.

Years ago when I had a near fatal car accident, a stranger, who was setting up a stand at a weekly roadside flea market, who witnessed the accident, held his hand on my shoulder and comforted me until the ambulance/rescue/fire/police could get there. I was in and out of consciousness, but I can remember seeing his face, seeing his tears, hearing him ask God for help and telling me to hang in there. I remember too how his hand felt so warm on my shoulder. I could feel his love and concern for a fellow human being flowing through his body to mine. :)

I guess one of the nicest things someone ever did for me was several years ago when I was pregnant. Times were VERY tight for us money wise. I had enough paid sick leave built up in order to take 10 weeks of leave after the baby was born. I had big plans on working until the week before the baby was born but the Dr put me on leave 8 weeks BEFORE she was born!!!! I was totally freaking out about not getting to have alot of time off after having Jennifer. I was talking to a group from work and was telling them my worries about it all and one of the girls I worked in the next dept to gave me a $50.00 bill!!!!!! I was so shocked all I could do was cry!! She told me that a stranger had done the same thing for her when she was pregnant and she had vowed to do the same for someone else!! I also will do the same for someone some day.

I think that we need to note that nicest is not necessarily most romantic, don't y'all?

SO

Nicest - I got a FEDEX box for my birthday! :):):)

Towncrier - that is one of the sweetest things I have read in a long time. :)

Sue said "Yes!" when I asked her to marry me.

I like your way of thinking, especially considering the first thing that crossed my mind was....

Joe asked me to marry him! :)

It's such a wonderful feeling to know that someone cares enough about you to want to spend the rest of his/her life with you!

Yes, it was. It was the best survey that I have ever completed. :):):)

Not bad considering it was complete and total BS. ;)

DW serenading me at our wedding...
She sang 'Have I told you lately(that I love you)'
Had me biting my lip(Inflicting pain to yourself prevents crying..:o )

That is so sweet, shep, as are all of these nice stories.

I still don't get yours, JTB. Then again, I'm up later than usual tonight, so I'm not thinking clearly. :teeth:

Let it out, Shep. We'll still respect you.

Oh my goodness Shep ... that was really BRAVE of her too! Singing in public is hard enough... but when it is an emotion filled event like your own wedding!

I love reading these.... keep em coming!

These are about to make me cry. Stop it!! No, don't. :)
