What would you name a black kitten?/Update post #80

We might be adding a little black kitten to our family. We saw him at the humane society and we all fell in love. We are waiting on approval right now so we hope it goes through. The name he has been given right now is "Axe," but I don't see us keeping that one.

So, what would you name him?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, Disney-themed or not, anything goes.

So far my kids are thinking Panther, Batman and Thriller (lol).

I used to have a black cat named Kashka. My parents have one named Ethel Anna (named after my great aunt). I doubt those names appeal much to you, though.

Some other names that work for a black cat: Shadow, Olive, Jafar, Raven, Ninja, Vader, Inky, Jack, Sweep, Sharpie, Corvus, Silhouette, Hoodoo.

My mom named her's Waldo, as in "where's Waldo?" because he blended into their dark blue couch so well it is really hard to see him sitting on it

I like Thriller . We had a black cat once. Her name was Mischief. Suited her well!

Independence-found him around the 4th of July...we called him Indy

The black/white cat is named Josie. After one of my favorite cartoons as a child, Josie and the Pussycats. We had other cats when we brought her home. So, it was a fitting name. Plus, there is a black/white cat in the cartoon. But, that was a boy cat, named Sebastien.

When we got 2 kittens in Jan. 02, we named the gray one Sully and the all black one Boo. (DD picked out their names. ) Sadly when Boo went missing after a few years and we replaced her with a rescued kitten we called her Boo Boo, or Boo 2. That was quickly shortened to just Boo. I think Boo is a great name for a black cat.

I've had other black ones-they were named Kitty (not original, I know); Marcel, Marceau, Roseanna, and my grandma had one named Smokey.

Other cat names we have used are Tiger (Lily); Goose (she was a silly little goose!); and we currently have one named Monkey! When we got her (she's a Himmy) we thought she was a boy. When we got her fixed they told us she was a girl so her official name at the vet's is Monkey Princess, but we just call her Monkey. She's a beautiful cat, but kind of skitzy! We still have Sully and he's a beautiful, big, gray cat. He has some Russian Blue in him.

Good luck! And if you've never had a black cat before make sure you don't let it out near Halloween. Many shelters won't even adopt out black cats close to it.
