What would you name a black kitten?/Update post #80

My black kitty is Blackie - not very original, I know - but I actually named him before I "owned" him. (Was feeding him as a feral stray in my backyard for a few months - got tired of referring to him as "the little black stray I am feeding" and just started calling him Blackie. Once I decided to take him in - the name had already stuck

At the time, it didn't occur to me that his name rhymed with my housecat's name - Mackey. Now when I call for one of them, they both come running - I guess all they hear is "ackey"

Maybe you might want to wait a day or two once you bring the kitty home to see if his/her personality makes the naming process easier.

our black kitty is named midnight.. but we call him FB for short.. (furry butt )

We might be adding a little black kitten to our family. We saw him at the humane society and we all fell in love. We are waiting on approval right now so we hope it goes through. The name he has been given right now is "Axe," but I don't see us keeping that one.

So, what would you name him?

My friend had a cat name Psycho. He wasn't too friendly with people, very jumpy. He lived a really long time.

I had a black cat as a kid named Pepper. My current black cat's name is Luke (but that's the name he came with and knows very well), but I call him my black panther. A coworker has a black cat named Shadow.

My black cat is named Shadow. I named her shadow because when she was a kitten she would follow me everywhere. She is now 19 years old

Hum - I never really considered a Shadow to be black. We named our Grey cat Shadow -- because she follows us around the house.

We had a black and a white cat at the same time -- we named them Ebony and Ivory.

Our black cat's name is Morticia. We call her Tish. I was thinking of calling her Hallie (like Hallowe'en) .

So, if I got a black male kitten, I think I'd either name him Elias (nickname Eli) or Nigel.

Named a former adult black shelter cat "Magic". That lasted about a day and 1/2 until she named herself: Shadow (followed me EVERYWHERE).

I've had pretty good luck waiting until they're home to name 'em - let their personalities dictate. One white kitten (who shot up in the air when spooked) became "Popcorn" (aka Poppers, Mr. Pop). DH once had a siamese that resembled "Yoda".
