I thought of all people, you great DVC'ers are the ones to ask! I'm staying at a 1 bedroom suite at OKW next Sept/Oct with a toddler and am unsure what, if any requests I should make with a toddler - so walking too much will be an issue, quietness, pool and possibly a water view? Any recommendations on what I should request, with the understanding I may get none of them? Thanks!

Call and see if you can reserve a Hospitality House 1 bedroom. This wont cost any more points, but it is a separate category and will put you fairly close to the main pool, store, restaurant, and other facilities. It is the 8 buildings closest to the Hospitality House. It actually puts you within waking distance of two convenient bus stops: Peninsular Road which is one of the first stops on the way in, and the Hospitality House stop which is the last stop before the bus goes out to the parks. Good Luck.

P.S. If you cannot get this category, I would recommend requesting a room close to the Old Turtle Pond pool. It's a little larger pool than the pther quiet pools, has a snack bar and a playground, and also is not too far from a bus stop which falls pretty much in the middle of the resort bus stop route.

The OP, I believe, is a cash guest through CRO, as their sig indicates OKW with free dining.

As the previous poster indicated, near Hospitality House (which means yo are closer to the main pool, resort store, check-in, etc.) is a separate booking category, at least on points. I'm really not sure how it works for CRO reservations. There is one main pool, and 3 quiet pools at OKW. All of them have a sandy childrens play area and hot tub. There are 5 bus stops throughout OKW, so really there aren't any "awful" locations. I assume this trip s you, your DH and toddler? If so, it probably won't make any difference as to how many bathroom entrances there are, but bldgs 29 and under (this includes the near HH category) have one entrance to the bathroom, through the master bedroom. Bldgs 30 and over have 2 entrances, through the bedroom and through the laundry room. Bldgs 30 and higher include the Turtle Pond and South Point areas.

The best water view rooms are in bldgs. 45, 46 and 55.

Remember that only 3 bldgs, 62, 63 & 64 have elevators, and these are often used for those with mobility issues. You can request a ground floor room, but the stairs have a gentle rise with a landing every 1/2 flight.

I'm sure you'll love OKW!

thanks for the information. it helps a lot. yes, we are paying guests and it's just dh, I and baby. if we get a ground floor room, how is the noise level if we have someone above us? and if we ask for one of the buildings wtih a good water view, is it a long walk to the hospitality house? and do any of the "hospitality house" buildings have water views? thanks again for the info - we're excited about staying at OKW!

I have found all the "homes" to be very quiet, especially compared to the other resorts. We have been on all levels, and IMO there isn't a bad place to be. The upper floors do require stair climbing, so keep that in mind with a toddler.

The canal views aren't a far walk to the main area, but you can always hop a bus to the front building. We have been in a few buildings that have had us at a water trap...not certain if that is what you mean by water view ;) but those were nice in the morning with ducks and otters swimming about.

Have fun...we love our "home."

Having stayed at OKW twice now, my biggest recommendation is to try and place yourself somewhere off of the bus route. The first year we were there, we wanted to be close to a bus stop - for obvious reasons. But what we didn't consider was the noise that comes with that!!! Buses buses buses! Late into the night! It drove me insane! The second year we corrected this - we'd much rather walk a little further to the bus stop and have the peace and quiet. And no matter where you are, your walk to a bus stop really isn't bad at all - even at the furthest point away.

Just something to consider. Good luck! You'll love it there!
