What perks do you miss out on by renting (not DVC member)?

If I rent thru Disney CRO or expedia, do I get to do all the same things at the resorts as members? I'm specifically interested in Vero. What perks do members get over renters? Cheaper mini golf and fishing? I don't want to read all about Vero from this forum if it differs from what I can do as a renter. Thanks.

If you book through CRO you will not get member perks at any of the DVC resorts. If you rent from a member, you MIGHT get member perks if they honor the room key card that will say "member".

The people staying on our points have never had any problems getting the perks just by showing hte room key that says DVC member on it wether it be a dining discount or what have you.

The only advantage of going thru CRO is daily housekeeping.

Forgot to add this perk.....Your back will like it since your wallet won't be as heavy to lug around or as thick when you sit down ;)

There are no significant lost opportunities for VB if you stay through CRO. You do pick up the daily housekeeping. There are a few minor perks that you'll lose out on like the discount mini golf, but nothing of consequence. You're wallet may be lighter or not depending on when you go, etc. The cheapest way to get in for a week about half the year is through an II exchange.

Thanks, that was what I was looking for........ WHAT I'd be missing. OK, discount on mini-golf, anything else? Can my kids join whatever activities are going on?

Yes. Your kids can join the activites. (You do have to sign up for some of them and the number of spaces is limited for some things, so sign up early. They don't "save" spacs for DVC members).

Even though we are DVC members, we have booked 2 different VB stays through CRO. We noticed no difference in treatment. There may be a few discounts that are just for members, but other than that, there were no activites/programs just for members.

best wishes -
