What is the customary gift for a quinceañera?

my DD was invited to her first quinceanera. What is the customary gift for a friend to bring? If it’s money, is there a standard amount that is appropriate? We are in the Chicago suburbs.

Any other etiquette or things DD should know to expect ahead of time?

We live in a part of the US where quinceneras are VERY common. It used to be that $15 in new bank money was common, that was when that amount was worth lots more. Nowadays, no customary gift. And no special etiquette or other things-it's just like a wedding reception, but usually with lots of attendants (15 damas and their escorts).

My DD went to her first quince a few weeks ago. She gave $50. It was a black tie only affair. She wasn’t particularly close with the girl, but other friends who are close with her gave $100.

We live in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Speaking of Quincenera's, I received a save the date for one that is early summer 2019, I had no idea people sent save the dates for anything else but weddings.

I say $50 for a friend is a very nice gift.

I would do either $50 or a nice necklace with a charm of something she likes.

A week at WDW? :confused3

$50. That is crazy. I think I would pass. Unless it was a very very close life long BFF. Do you give that much for a firends regular 15th birthday? Or a Sweet 16 too?

$50 was the standard gift for a sweet 16 invite when my kids were invited to them.
$54 for bar/bat mitzvahs.

We never received a quincenera invite but since they seem to be bigger occasions with large catered parties I would have gone with $50.

Very close friends would get a little more.

It's a birthday party. To me it wouldn't matter if they choose to have a big celebration or pizza & cake. I would not give a class mate $50 for their birthday. I think I budgeted $15 or maybe $25 if it was a close friend. My daughter went to a one of these (it would have been 13 years ago) but I know we did not give anything close to $50.

It’s not just a “birthday party” for people that celebrate quinces as part of their culture. It’s a much bigger deal, almost like a wedding.

These are huge milestone parties where larger gifts are customary, where we live.
