What is the customary gift for a quinceañera?

just curious for bat mitzvahs do the parents pay for it all or do they also ask friends and family to pay for certain things? and what kinda gifts are given? Just curious

99% sure it’s the parents, grandparents I don’t think it’s like a quincenara

I don't disagree that these are a big deal. They are HUGE celebrations. I have seen groups of "couples" (I assume the "court") practicing the dances they will perform during the celebration in the park. A simple birthday party does not include practicing .

Oh, yes. For one of the quinceneras DS was in, the parents hired a choreographer, and he had dance practice every Sunday for about 6 weeks beforehand. I think that in the quinceneras around here, if I remember right (it was close to 20 years ago), there were 14 couples in the "court", 14 damas and their escorts, then the honoree and her escort, making 15 couples.

It truly depends to the area and what kind of friends they are. We are western Chicago suburbs and are planning my daughter's quince now. We however are doing hers in Mexico and flying people there along with family we have there. Gift expectations are ZERO and we have stated as much.

When I had my Quincenera in Mexico, it was very much the same except people from the states did give me around 100.00 each (family) and friends that came gave me around 50.00 each. People in Mexico bought me gifts or offered assistance in planning from a distance to help my parents not to make so many trips back and forth. When I got back to home to Chicago and had my Quincenera here for people and family that could not make the trip, I was gifted mostly cash and pretty much anywhere from 50 - 100. This was all from people that came to the hall for the party. In the Mexican culture, the party is just as big as a wedding (there were over 300 people at my quince and only 75 at my Disney wedding! LOL) but in all honesty, it's all about the fun and no gifts are ever expected, we just want you to have fun and enjoy yourself. This is the main reason you will see the gift table looking so incredibly small at a Quince in Mexico compared to one here in the states.

Yes, very true. There are a few choreographed routines and the 'court' all wear coordinating dresses/suits just like bridesmaids and groomsmen. My daughter's quince is in January of 2020 and we have had the hall booked since this January and their dance practices will begin in November of 2019. We pay for all the expense of the court and the dance lessons and before she asks her court if they would like to join her, she provides a list of required dates for choreography. There are usually costume changes for the dances as well.
