What I miss ar WDW

Re: Inner Space losing its space to StarTours... there is a nod to it in the first part of the scene as the StarSpeeder 3000 is leaving the hangar, and it swerves to miss a control booth...there's a small "Miniature-izer" in the lower part of the screen... Very cool. :)

Check it out:

As for the Dark Side of the DL Resort that Darth Eisner, Grand Admiral Pressler and Moff Harriss developed... We go there to ride Soarin', Screamin, ToT, and to get corn dogs. :) When we have out of town guests, we tough it out for their benefit, painting on smiles and "enjoying" our magical day...

See ya

I don't remember the Buena Park Deer Park. If it's what it sounds like, though, I doubt if my aunt and uncle would have brought us there. Being from Oregon we would have laughed at that. :) I bet my DH knows what you're talking about.

Anyone ever go to that Alligator Farm across the street from Knott's? Long gone now...

I vaguely remember the existence of the Alligator farm- for whatever reason my parents refused to take me. There was also the park across from Knotts with the miniature Independence Hall.

The Buena Park Deer Park was heavy on shows. I remember a bird show and there was a Japanese theme to the park.

Where did they build DTD? I came across it on the DL site and emailed some friends because I was scratching my head and wondering what in the world was DTD. I didn't get an answer.

Even though I have never seen it I can't still can't believe that a theme park was built in the Parking Lot.

The first time I went to WDW (I was in college) I called my dad who lived in Capistrano and was raving about Disney and what impressed me was that when you rode the monorail you didn't see Anahiem. He thought I was a little nuts. That's the thing with DL, if you know where to look between the trees, you see reality.

I never got to River Country, so I can't say that I miss it, but the way everyone talks about it, I wish it was still open!

I do miss 20,000 Leagues, the parade at Epcot, the True Colors movie at Honey I Shrunk the Audience, the "ride" entering into the Living Seas, and the original shows at MGM - there was one my mom did where she was "in" a scene from I Love Lucy and there were other people from the audience that got to do different scenes as well - it was very cool!

Great thread - it really brings back memories!

You should've called CPS on them.... :)

That's still there, and it has always been a part of the Knott's property...(that's how they justified school field trips (along with the Pan for Gold...)

DTD is in the western part of the parking lot and on a bridge area that goes across the street that divided DL from the hotel. It's almost imperceptible that you're on a bridge , as it'svery wide and covered with outdoor vending carts...you know: bouncy-bouncy balls on a string, temp tattoos, hair wraps...

The rest of DTD is in the area that used to house those villa-type rooms at the DL Hotel... The monorail station is (I think) in the exact same place that it used to be, but now that place is NOT in/attached to the DL Hotel. It's in the middle of DTD. It really looks very nice, though.

Come visit again!

definitely the Skyride at WDW-MK (too bad never got to ride them at DL-MK)

And at AK I miss the boats that transported you on the Rivers of Discovery... I thought this was a great way to get around w/o walking/crowds, also gave a different perspective on the park
