What Happens at the Beach Club... Travels with Teens, Take Two, (PTR) 4/6 p. 29

I can totally understand why you see wedding parties on almost all of your trips.....you stay at the most beautiful places which are perfect for weddings!

I don't blame you one bit for stopping for Photopass pictures. Like you said, Moms are the ones who are usually left out of the pictures because we are behind the camera.

Catching up on a few TR's while I sit on the patio here in Marco.

I'm glad you got to see Teena and spend a bit of time with her.

Great job on spotting the bride.

I love that walk over to the International Gateway.

And why shouldn't you take PP pictures? I have a secret weapon with Mark. If he doesn't stop, I won't ride It's a Slow Boat to China or Dumbo. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I love Spaceship Earth too (sentimental reasons for my dad). I promise not to tell Ben. And I love that you used your fists to make Mickey ears. :goodvibes

OK, taking a temporary break from puppy preparations to catch up and try to be a better friend! LOVE the photos of you and Teena - so happy and great picture of both of you. Most of our photos with Teena have been so rushed, so I can appreciate the calm of that photo moment! And how fun to run into YCFan! Another great photo of some very happy women (who again, look quite relaxed.)

Won't tell Ben! But he will have another chance next spring, right? I'll try to hop over to the BC thread soon, because we might be returning to the BOG list for Easter weekend!!!!

Thanks for posting more bride stalking pictures. I should probably pre post the ones I got from May. This bride was super stunning. I could not stop taking pictures of her!

Yay for finally getting into a park!

Love the pictures from the new camera - beautiful!

And I agree that a trip on SE is essential with every entrance into Epcot. It's such a classic! Love it!

Glad you stopped to pose for a PP pic or two! It's nice to be solo sometimes, isn't it. Just go with the flow!

Sorry I have been absent for the last few days. Had some family drama.

My dear dad, who is generally of pretty sound mind and body for his 81 years, thought it was a good idea to participate in a 5K Walk for the cancer center at the local hospital in 85 degree heat on Sunday. Well, he passed out and lost consciousness and ended up with an overnight stay in the very hospital he was walking for.

Thankfully, lots of nurses were around him when it happened. After a battery of tests, no medical issues were found and the diagnosis was fainting, probably due to dehydration.

Fortunately, nothing was broken, he isn't sore but his face and hands are full of some pretty nasty abrasions.

His spirits and his sense of humor, as always, remain intact.

The place in Mexico we have been going to for the past several years is definitely a great place for a destination wedding.

A gal needs a few photos of herself for her Facebook profile photo!

:lmao:

I have enjoyed following along with your Disney/Marco trip on FB. Sounds like a wonderful time!

:goodvibes

My Mark is a pretty good sport about the pictures. The boys are getting there. But it was so much easier when it was just me! ;)

I know that Spaceship Earth means a lot to you!

So excited about your new addition!!! :dogdance:

I have a picture of me and Teena together from our first meeting, but the light in the lobby ruined the picture. :(

This one is definitely a keeper.

It was a blast running into people I "knew" even if I hadn't met them yet. We will be seeing more of YCFan, and others, in upcoming installments!

Yes, Ben and I will be headed to Disney for his class trip in June.

:yay:

Bride Stalking is a fun hobby!

It was great to make it into EPCOT, especially since I didn't think I was going to be going to any parks during my trip.

It is weird that we usually have to go out on our way to ride Spaceship Earth since we are often entering through the International Gateway, not the front of the park.

It was smart of me to get some PP pictures early on, because by the time I was done with EPCOT that afternoon, I was a sweaty mess!

Your dad must be a very active guy to even contemplate a 5K. Do you think he would have been fine if the weather was nice and cool instead of hot?

I'm glad that he is okay. :goodvibes

Sending get well wishes to your Dad. Glad his injuries weren't serious and delighted his sense of humour remains intact :goodvibes
Hope he makes a very swift recovery :)

Glad it was just dehydration and he isn't too badly hurt Dee  I can't do a 5K in the heat, good for Dad..but he needs to take it a little more easy. :flower3: More  what a fright it must have been for all of you!!!

Oh my goodness, Dee! I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. Bless his heart, he was trying to do something good and he ended up in the hospital. Praying that he continues to recover quickly.

5 minutes to walk to Epcot. I'm just still so in awe of that. Next year, Dee! That will be me! I won't tell Ben about your solo ride on SE. I love that ride!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, but glad he's ok and in good spirits.

So I'm all caught up with this thread! I have to say that after Dee and I were done running around Stormalong Bay scaring the life guards I had more time in the pool with Janet Mom and Tara(k).

We pretty much were behaving ourselves so I have to wonder if Dee isn't a (Bad) influence on me. I will say that I was encouraged in my shenanigans and promises were made that if I posed for this picture or that picture a 'Beet and goat cheese' salad would be brought back to the Beach Club for me.

I never got the salad BTW!
Pbbbttttt...... :sad2:+

Janet Mom was a very GOOD INFLUENCE on ME! While we were in the pool she was giving me helpful tips like "Stop breathing when you go UNDER water" and "Stop hitting people with your pool noodles". I got in way less trouble when Janet Mom was around. She even knew what to do when we got stuck in a corner in the lazy river! There I was, just spinning in slow circles, not getting anywhere and she starts to yell "Kick your legs, KICK your legs!!"

She was a total pro in the Lazy river department. It made me wonder if she doesn't spend all her time knitting and swimming in some sort of Canadian version of a water park.

I wasn't allowed on the pool tubes after that time in the pool with Dee but I have to wonder if perhaps Janet Mom would have been able to keep me from getting stuck in them. She probably would have known to turn me over when I
was upside down on the tube...

MAYBE we will just have to take advantage of that MAGICAL offer for our next VACATION when we TRAVEL to Orlando and try again...

In other news I have been busy getting ready for my next trip down to the world on Oct 15th. I am meeting up with friends but we are staying all over. Some of us are at Pop and others have DVC so they are at the Beach Club Villas. I will just have to peep through the bushes and watch them when they go in Stormalong Bay. :sad2::sad: Perhaps I will drag a palm tree back and decorate the pool at Pop in a feeble attempt to transform that concrete wasteland into a lush oasis like it is at the Beach Club. Maybe I'll even get one of those blow up alligator rafts and scare the bejesus out of the Pop life guards! The possibilities are endless...

Ninja Mom -

DH should have read your rules on how to enter a pool tube gracefully. I was afraid he was going to flip over with his "plop into it backward" technique. :upsidedow. It was a good thing I had read your instructions and therefore avoided any embarrassing situations. ;)

Yes NM, all I do all day is knit in our pool. Fortunately, September was warmer than much of the summer, so it has still been quite easy to keep up my swimming practices. In the winter months, as it gets colder and the water firms up, keeping afloat is much easier. That's when I get most of my knitting done as I don't have to multi-task as much with the whole floating and kicking things. Now that October is here, I must start working on knitting my butt warmer as sitting on the ice in December can get quite chilly.

In addition to being a better influence around the pool, I would have totally brought you that salad had I known you wanted it.

but she was overcome by temptation and ate it on the way back to the resort.

You know... I never thought about trying to get in to the WINTER OLYMPICS with the Synchronized Pool Tube Team.... but now that you have revealed your cold weather pool tube secrets I think you may be on to something. Keeping afloat when the water freezes IS much easier! We could just scoot around the ice in our tubes but we will have to calculate the coefficient of drag due to our butt cheeks.

One day the world will realize just how much work goes into living the life of a Synchronized Pool Tube Athlete... The toll it takes on our families, the long hours at the pool bar and our constantly chapped butt cheeks.

I like to think that our sacrifices are not in vain, and that the artistic merit we bring to the world will be an inspiration to all of the uncoordinated and unglamorous people everywhere!

So glad to hear your dad is ok. I can imagine how scared you were. Well sending good vibes to you and your family :goodvibes
Thanks for the sneak peek at the Presidential suite! I can't even imagine what it would be like to actually stay there but it looks pretty fancy ;)!
Great photos with your "big girl camera" and I promise I won't tell Ben that you went on Spaceship Earth with out him!

:wave2:

Busy week at work, school (ran a movie night for 5th graders last night) and checking up on my dad.

He is doing well, wounds are healing. I had lunch with him on Thursday. He drove for the first time on Thursday morning, to go to wound care to have his finger re-bandaged.

:thumbsup2

I'm glad that he is okay. :goodvibes

That is a great question. He does exercise a few times a week, and probably could have finished the 5K under better conditions... but if I had known ahead of time he was thinking about this, I would have discouraged him.

I'm so thankful he was not seriously hurt- my dad is truly a one-in-a-million guy.

Dad is strong, Dad is smart, but Dad could have used better judgment on Sunday. :sad2:

Parents!

Thank you for your prayers. My dad has a heart of gold!!! You know what they say- The road to good intentions is paved with danger. OK, nobody says that, but I think I will start now.

;)

Thanks for thinking of my dad.

The 5 minute walk to the World Showcase is just mind-blowing! Location, Location, Location! Can't wait- I can feel the excitement in your posts.

:goodvibes

Thanks for keeping my secret just between us.

Yes, DH should read "Instructions for Entering a Pool Tube" by Ninja Mom, and do the exact OPPOSITE!

Me too! At least I knew he was ok when he called and I was glad that I was able to spend the day with him until he was discharged from the hospital.

It was nice being able to say I was in the Presidential Suite, but the lounge was really just in a small part of it. Now we are waiting (not so patiently) for pictures of the refurbished and enlarged BC concierge lounge which opened on Tuesday. Teena says it is FANTASTIC!

It was fun bringing along my fancy-smancy camera and knowing I could take my time taking pictures if I wanted to.

Mums the word on aceship-Spay rth-Eay

(wow, that's a really hard one in pig-latin)

Why are there butt cheeks in my trip report?!?

It was time for my Fast Pass, here:

I was the biggest “kid” in line to meet the characters. There were some adorable babies and pretty princesses surrounding me.

This one is from Memory Maker, the rest are my camera. I am on a Memory Maker account with someone else, and she sent me a couple of pictures, but the rest will be coming soon.

Goofy

And Minnie

All of the characters were friendly and welcoming.

:goodvibes:

This was the first time I have met characters here. I actually got confused between this location and the place where Disney Visa cardholders can meet & greet characters and get a free 5x7 picture. I asked when I finished where you get the Disney Visa photo, and they gave me the directions to the Meeting Spot in the Innoventions building. I went by, and the wait was 20 minutes for that, so I skipped it. I had another important place to go.

LUNCH!!!

My go-to to-go meal at EPCOT is here

I knew what I was ordering before arriving, heck, as soon as I booked this trip.

Roasted Beet & Goat Cheese Salad, with Candied Pecans and Honey Sherry Dressing

This is the salad I dream about!

Especially when it is followed by Sunshine Seasons Strawberry Shortcake!

MMMmmmmmmmmm!!!

When I finished my lunch, I texted a picture of my meal to Mark:

He replied back “We had lobster. We win!”

He’s right, of course.

But I’m heading to Test Track.

So there!

It was time for my Fast Pass, here:

I'm glad you went to the Character Spot for pictures with Mickey, Goofy and Minnie (and great pictures too). We've done this the last two or three trips with a five minute wait!

When I finished my lunch, I texted a picture of my meal to Mark:

He replied back “We had lobster. We win!”

He’s right, of course.

Not so sure about that; I don't care for lobster, but LOVE crab.

But I’m heading to Test Track.

So there!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:You tell him Dee!
